It's alarming how may of these conditions I exhibit.
This should be taught in school.

Well John, I can honestly say that I'm a bit alarmed about the number I got off that list too,  :o

;D
So what are you doing this weekend?
I'm going to BARF!!!
You're going to...wait...WHAT???

Well, the link does suggest that upwards of 70% of suffers are also *smokers*. Need I say more?

I will take issue with this one though:

--"Delusions of reference- thinking that random events convey a special meaning to you. An example is that a newspaper headline or a license plate has a hidden meaning for you to figure out. That they are signs trying to tell you something."

I was driving along thinking about a situation...should I speak out or should I let it ride. I swear the car in front of me had a bumpersticker and it said "Sit down, shut up, and hold on." Now I've had many a friend tell me to just shut up before, but this was so much more meaningful to me. I listened and you know what? The bumpersticker was right!

Based on that statement alone, I am now officiallyworried about your sanity... LOL

OK, seriously, after looking over that entire list, I came to the realization that it actually encompasses anywhere from 70 to 90 percent of the population. Congrats, we're all nuts...

I understand schizophrenia is very difficult to diagnose. Wasn't it a catch-all diagnosis for some time? As in, I don't know exactly what's wrong, but it must be something, so let's go with schizophrenia... I'm talking about a long time ago, of course.

Xantrawler

I use to work in the mental health field and schizophrenia is one of the worst mental illness you can have. This illness causes a person to have a total break with reality, if untreated. I looked over the article and the symptoms they list, as they say, are also found with many other mental health illnesses. In addition we all will exhibit these types of behaviors at one time or another. It is when they are consistent, uncontrollable or harmful that they become an issue. This is really a bad article and that surprises me as it appears to be on a site for schizophrenics and their family. For now I wouldn't worry about having a mental illness, since if you are worried you may have one that means you are OK, as a person with mental illness does not recognize they have a problem. Unless you're borderline personality disorder then you have everything. Of course your life is in a constant state of crises and turmoil. If people don't believe it, just have them ask you. You'll tell them.

I don't know...Part of me says I have it but part of me say's no.

If this were the case, then anyone with any modicum of faith would be schizophrenic, if you think about it. You know, seeing signs, hidden meanings, etc. Like the others have said, most of us will exhibit these symptoms at one time or another in our lives. Like Xantrawler said " since if you are worried you may have one that means you are OK, as a person with mental illness does not recognize they have a problem"

I thought I was crazy for a while, but then I talked myself out if it...

Of course, it was quite a fight, and I think one of me even ended up with a black eye!  8)
