You say you want a revolution...

According to my twin brother, who was at the grocery store checkout- reading the wonderfully informed tabloids- the Colorado Renaissance Festival is experiencing a "hamster rebellion." Oh no! Gasp! This is horrible!

Just for the record- I love it! Hamsters on the march!! Whoo hoo and huzzah and all that! Anybody actually know what the alleged rebellion is about? Hmmmm? Will it actually make it to fair? What will it do when it takes over? Can a hamster live in the subjunctive?

Okay, I don't believe any of us who have been a part of hamster mania (which has been going on for a long time now since Zoe mentioned having 19 real ones) were even aware of said revolution. However, to quote Young Frankenstein, "A riot is a terrible thing... and I think it is just about time we had one!"

Anyhoo, just for the record- the hamster adoption agency, run by my wife, was very upset to learn the non-existent rebellion was blamed on her. Hamster without a cause. No, she adopts the hamsters out because the hamster king (whoever that may be) has requested she do so and she loves them- hello, McFly... Seriously, I cannot, for the life of me, picture a hamster as EVER being any form of rebellion (unless you give 'em a crappy wheel too difficult to turn).

Fortunately, as far as I am aware, there is only one miss-informed individual spreading this silly rumor- so- I would like to head this off at the pass (ye ha!) before we do, in fact , require a hamster rebellion.  We love our faire. Everyone who has a hamster clearly loves the faire. Perhaps hamster mania has been confused with gerbil mania...

Thank you- and may your hamster bless all good that you do!

Yeah, what he said!

what did he say?  was he being serious?

yep, that's what serious looks like when he does it.

ok, then what did he say?

he said, (foghorn leghorn voice) it's a gag, son.  Joke that is.  (normal voice) it doesn't MEAN anything.

oh, good, that's what i thought he said.

WHAT? OH OK I think I get it! Nope it's over left field and out of the faire grounds. It's a Home Run or maybe it's a Tuchdown or maybe 30 Love? Heck I don't know I'm still trying to figure out who this Hamster King/Queen is. Who says the Hamster King is a He? HUMMMMM Think about that? Maybe the Hamster King has no gender, It is after all Hamsters and can anyone REALLY tell the gender of a hamster?

OK I know the facts, it's not over my head. Thinks to that guy over there in the foresty outfit

It's not REALLY A revolution, but an INVASION.

See about 1.5 years ago those cute little buggers called Hamsters or hammies popped their little noses into the forum. We never knew they were there, BUT alas they were. They just decided to make their presents known to us thinking we might confuse them for rats and thus have to calla  pied Piper. We found them to be cute and cuddly, but we didn't know they like most wanting to invade had ulterior motives. They wanted control or to be at least accepted as equals among us. They had been seeing us for years enjoy faire and now wanted a stake in the claim.

The invasion started off first with them causing laughter, some joy and MUCH confusion but they never meant harm to anyone. They just wanted their freedom from Hamster wheels, habitrails, and enjoy the vocals of the Foxglove madrigals. Not to mention they LOVE Dead Bob. But not so overly so of the washing well wenches (Hamster don't like water and fear being drowned by Izzy and her sister) They do enjoy the joust and YES they do want to joust.

There are four conspirators to the Hamsters and for now we shall call them FHS (Freedom for Hamsters Society) sometimes referred to as HARS (the real names I suspect of the conspirators).

I use the term conspirator loosely as the four just wish 100% equal rights for all even the Hamster Nation.

These four are in NO way associated with faire or those who run it, but they do have many supporters in the realm. The Hamsters are a diverse nation. As diverse as any nation on the planet today.

So to wrap this up, there is NO REAL Hamster Revolution withthe exception of bring them equal rights and freedom the same as anyone wishes. It is more of an Invasion as more of their kind makes themselves known. They are ruled in part by the Hamster King but only 1 among HARS has any contact with him or even met or seen him. he is a very private king and quite shy amongst Non-Hamsters.

So HUZZAH to The Hamster King and all of his subjects. VIVA LA HAMSTERS!

Just to reiterate-

A. One person thought the hamsters were a rebellion against the faire.

B. That one person is wrong.

Uh huh.  Right ::Peers at the little fuzzy creatures standing behind Demetrius with a gun:: Of course he is.  No reason to be alarmed, is there?  Absolutely no such thing as a Hamster Rebellion....Move along, nothing to see here...

Revolution - a way for people to make just one more fun thing into an "evil corrupt thing".   >:(

As the Official Hamster Orphan Adoption Agency... or the OHOAA, I have to know the Hamster King... and the King has been "hamstering" for over 10 years.  The forums have had visits from the King since before the almighty crash of the "old forums".  At first it was the Hamster Goddess (see Pirate Zoe for more info) and the King. The Knighted Sir Hey Aren't You took it, fed it a Miracle Max Mostly Dead Pill and ran with it like wildfire.  ;)

I personally think that it is great to have a positive way to change the subject when someone gets too negative or goes against the forum guidelines.  Just think... it has spread to Minnesota and now California.

Not all who ask for a hamster from the OHOAA are approved... hamsters don't like to spread negativity.

my bad.    :-[

I love that you fed it a pill!   Do you have any left?  I know a few legends and some not mentionable things that could use a Miracle Max Mostly Dead Pill.

as with all things.... patience.   ;)

that time will arrive when the universe decides.

Correction- everyone who has a hamster is completely associated to faire (truth teller of exceptional proportion speaking).

Come on Radu just got some great wines that would go great with hamster.

I though hamsters were Friends, not Food.  Or is that Lemurs?  I get so confused.
