I wear 3 different height boots to Festival depending on my persona.  I have knee high when more noble.  Lord Devious would only wear knee high boots.  When a Scott or barbarian I wear 5 button ruff boots the go to just below the calf.  When I am a peasant or rogue I wear 3 button that just cover the ankle.  I like them all and each height is comfortable.
