Lady Laura

Got my top from Amazon Wednesday, got my newly made skirt from Diane Saturday, cut my hat down yesterday and have it ready.  Now I need my corset.

Bought all the groceries yesterday.  All my camping gear is out in the garage and ready to be packed.

Now I just need to make three days disappear!

Bonny, its for sure to tell you when I will be there.  My parents will be there this weekend.  Though they are not camping as they first planned too.  Thank Ike for that one.  But I promise, I will let you know when we are there, wether or not we have the kids.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Well tonight was garb and armor night.  Had to dust off the leather, break out the kilts, dig out the wife's dresses from the back of her closet, change the oil in the swords...  Busy Busy Busy...

Tomorrow I start staging out what goes in which car and drag out some firewood...

We're almost there...

Yea, my garage is stuffed!  I seriously don't know how it takes so much camping gear for just a weekend!  Of course, it's just me and Diane and my daughter at camp, and we're all perfectionists to a fault!  So everything has to be just so.  I've got to get help for that!  We have improved over the years and streamlined some things, but man, is it a job to get that camp set up!  I still love it though  :)

LOL i know what you mean! At first we brought tent and sleeping bags. Then it was an air mattress. Now we have a freaking shower tent, and this weekend the spare tent for a buddy that's coming! When will it end?!

It doesn't...you keep adding to it until you have so much stuff that you have to buy a trailer to haul it all in... I speak from experience...  :P

I actually work off-site, but still in the area of NASA now. Just started my new job last Monday actually.  I heard NASA was under water during Ike.  I actually am not 100% sure about it all since I was out of the country for 2 weeks prior and a week after the whole hurricane!  By the time I got back, I had power and stores were opened again.

I'm totally there with the rest of you on upping what we bring each year.  But my sis and I are pretty limited cause I drive a mini cooper and she drives a VW bug!!  Talk about limited space!  Thankfully our friends have a camper we stay in now and so we don't need the camping gear anymore!!

When we were shopping for a new vehicle last year for the lovely Lady Trinn, our biggest concern was making sure there was plenty of rum... er room for all the gear.
Got her a Scion Xb, perfect size. We can actually haul enough camping gear and garb for 7 people at need (we know that one from experience) including enough water for showers.
I was a scoutmaster with my kid for many many years and know very well what the minimum amount of gear I would need to camp. But... I've done that already... and, I am done with it. Now I want as many comforts as I can find.
Air mattress, showers, AC (yes there is a way to air condition a tent easily), tent heater, plenty of room etc etc...
Next step for us is a camper and that is coming as soon as it is economically possible.

*and lots of rum storage... also very important*

We are actually bring an extra tent when we go camping just to store our stuff and change in.  That way it helps keep the sleeping area's a little less cluttered.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Yes please!!!
Wondered how long it would take for someone to ask lol
Bring an extra ice chest full of ice only (not dry ice, you'll suck away your oxygen lol). Cut a piece of plywood (1/4" thick works well enough) to fit just inside the lid. You want as tight a seal as is reasonably possible. Cut a hole in the center(ish) of the plywood about 4x4 inches. Get a battery powered fan and stand it next to the hole. Use plastic (freezer bags are great for this) and duck tape and make a duct that leads from the hole to the fan (tape the plastic to the top of the fan and down the sides and around the hole... if that makes sense). You now have a directional air condition that will cool a tent down dramatically.

Honestly, with the planned temps this weekend I wasn't planning to set one up but I have been researching hard since last years oppresively hot opening weekend. This is the cheapest thing I have found and it works impressively well. Just have to remember to close the ice chest when its not being used to save ice.

I have to:
a) call my sister to co-ordinate the Great Jenna Hand-Off for this weekend. Fortunately the sis lives in Montgomery.
b) pack Jenna's duds for a weekend at Auntie 'Shele's, including a dress for church Sunday morning.
c) choose my faire outfits for this weekend (I've lost weight and can now wear some things I haven't worn since pre-baby).
d) pack my duds & stuff
e) pack cooler
f) nail down sleeping arrangements
g) have a kick @$$ time!

Huh, Funny... Truck and trailer are on my shopping list for December...

{ Well that is, if our government doesn't wreck our economy to the point where my bank won't lend me the money...  And here I was jazzed about my credit score... Damn Congress...}

We added a car seat to our mix... Man that takes away a lot of packing room... Upgrades are a must...
