To Beer or not to Beer? I will pick the way of the Ale! I drink more beer at home for the same reason more volume per buck!  ::) Coming from a long line of bar owners ,there really is a nice mark up on a barrel of beer. As for me and my budget there going to get my money one way or another, if the prices are lower my tipping is biggerand that makes me feel good when I can help the staff are in the trenches ever day!  ;D

At least you can have a cold tasty beer on a hot day. I'm on cast and not allowed, but even if I was, I'm a cheap drunk and could not have a drop, without falling over. :)

The recession has hit everyone here. Beer prices are up, taxes are up, everything is up. We're going through so much more for grocery money than before. The costs of running the fair, etc I'm guessing, not knowing, that insurance prices have gone up etc. Again, I'm not sure, this is a guess. So don't hold me to it. I'm just paying a fortune for everthing now. E-gads and next week it's school clothes for four boys.  HELP!!

Black Armor

I noticed that the Guiness Pub was not as full this past Saturday when I was there.  Black Armor Warrior bought me a horn full of cider before we parted ways, I didn't realize the price was that high, I guess I really do owe him one.  That was my only drink of that nature that day, it was chilly and I was there with my new baby.

I was happy to do it.  If I had known that I wasn't going to run into you again, I would have bought another round.  What's a few dollars when we only get one chance a year to have an ale?

Besides, the wife and I will be attending the feast this Saturday for our five year anniversary so I'm sure I will have my share of drink there.

I drink wine and I almost fainted this year when I went to purchase a glass.  It was $5 last year !  I to have started packing a cooler and leaving it in the car.  I get there extra extra early so I can park close to the entrance gate.  I have thought about bringing a bottle of wine and re filling some sort of container to take in with me but I am sure that is very against the rules.  :-\

Yeah, what is their rule on outside beverage. I've always wanted to fill a growler full of water, and fill my cup throughout the day, along with buying beer, wine, mead, and cider. I mean you can't drink all day then drive home, and I'm not a big fan of pop. Water just seems more period too and better for you. But, I'm with darkranger and Lims though I'll still buy beer, just maybe not as much. And I guess evryone has to make money somehow. It's just too bad, and it's gettin worse.

The reason they are charging $5.75 is because they know people will pay it.  I used to buy 4 or 5 rounds over the course of the day, but not any more.  The only way prices will drop is if sales are bad...period.  As long as they are selling, the price will remain.

I hate to admit it but since I'm too lazy to walk to the car, I have also bought a couple per day against my better judgement.
Nothing better in life than enjoying a pint amongst friends...Huzzah!

I'm curious as well. What is the policy on bringing in outside beverages?

A sign at the gate requests you to leave all food and beverage at your carriage. However, I've never seen anyone cracked down upon for flasks, not even those obnoxiously huge 64 ouncers. Also this year, I've seena  lot of familys with coolers in the their kid wagons, and haven't seen security bother them.

I'd like to thank all of you who came to the Micro-brew tasting tent today, portions of the proceeds go to the local AYSO soccer program. It was very nice to see all of you folks and at least you can know that some of your hard earned cash went to help out soccer kids. Thanks again!!  :)

Why thank you, I was there Sunday. I never really knew it went to any charity or organization, but that's good to hear, not only did I have some great beer I helped some people in the process. I just wish they'd carry some of those styles on tap or in bottles at all the drink vendors in the faire.
