I promised Milord a new linen shirt, and I thought I had a gazillion patterns... but I'm not in love with any of them.  We like the look of Simplicity 3519... except it has no shoulder seams, which I would find really uncomfortable!  I'd love to find a pattern with a yoke, and DH says "not too pointy a collar."

ETA: This picture is terrible, but I think it's the basic construction I'm looking for (see the set-in sleeves + yoke?):

Suggestions?

Gem I made a pattern myself, if you want send me an email at Cilean (at) Dracolore.com and I will send you the sheets you can see if it works for you okay? I will be showcasing this at Costume College next year so I would love if it people would be my "Testers" to see if I am clear and precise!!!

we are having the same problem, milord doesn't want it to be too poofy and he has issues with the lack of shoulder seams as well

I made a shirt from that pattern and it doesn't bother me. But here's a similar one that might be better: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4862.htm?tab=list/costumes&page=all

This is one from Alter Years that I use a lot for Men and Women. I have also used this pattern for a Cavalier styled shirt with a hand drafted collar and cuffs from scratch. The added figure 8 ruffs, I do myself.

I would have to look for the number, but the one I use is out of print. It does have a collar, but you could just leave that off. It has set in sleeves, a yoke and laces in the front.

It is also the same pattern I am using and I am making the shirt as well.

I've made a couple of the Simplicity 3519's over the weekend.  I really like the yoke rather than the shoulder seams. The sleeves are VERY puffy.  I'll eventually use some sort of print for the yoke and a solid for the body and sleeves.   Very easy to put together.

If I had anything to caution, it would be the gathering technique (basting stitch and pull bottom threads).  Makes it a little tough to gauge gathering exactly since it slides so much.  I think I'm going to "finger gather" the next one.

The body is very flowy, so fit's not a big deal.  However, the yoke pretty much fits the chest size -- if you go too small, the body will fit, but the yoke will be tight.
