This one is a dog's breakfast of hand and machine sewing, gluing and fusing.  I didn't quite resort to staples and nails, but it was a close call...   ;)

Yep, I did- it's a cardboard base covered in wool felt (and vinyl for the visor). The thick plume I bought at Feathers for Pleasure at Michigan Renaissance Festival.
