I can hardly get something that looks that good with the machine! It's beautiful and very impressive!
Sometimes you can't wait for the storm to pass; you have to just get out there and dance in the rain.

Sorcha

Yes...  My brain falls out with the "hand sewn" part.   :o

DragonWing

I have LOVED watching these go together on your blog, and they are (as everything you do) GLORIOUS!!

You and Alisoun have totally sold me: my next corset is going to be cotton sateen (ok, hers was twill, but still).

Are those stays the Dorothea stays, or your own draft?

amy

Syrilla

Victorian Ensemble #2 Progress so far.

The 1890's Blouse. I folded over the fabric to get more use out of the stripes. There is slight gathering at the bottom as well as in the back.

Blouse Closeup...

The Jacket. The front lapels are the Blouse fabric, pinned and sewn to get the effects of the stripes. Then bias made from the Jacket fabric. The Jacket in underlined in denim, then underlined ina  plum print with Black flowers. I left the seams visible from the inside to add Regaline for more shaping if needed. The bottom and sleeves will be bound as well. I need to resew about the button holes. When I made the slits, some of the tread came undone. The Buttons are vintage shell buttons from the 1930's.

That jacket is GORGEOUS!!!! Is it made from taffeta? I LOVE how the sleeves are pleated to the body. I might try denim for interlining, it looks awesome in that jacket.

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

The fabric is hard to describe. It is not a taffetta, not quite lame either. But does have quite a sheen to it.

No matter what thread, that jacket is divine!  And the use of the stripe to texture the bouse is amazing!   Simply lovely!
