Wondeful work, everyone!!!  I am in awe!!!

Me on Halloween night in my Victorian with the wig from eBay, a veil I whipped up several years ago. I was a Goth Bride. The kids who came to my door for candy said I looked cool.

Next to dressing up for Faire, dressing up for Halloween comes in a close second.

Havent sewn much this year  :'( But I have at least completed these for Halloween. Minus the buttons the doublet is done (just ran out of time yesterday) It is from one of McCalls patterns. And the dress is the one that Gem? posted a the link to year or so ago.

Also best pic I have of it.

Wait what pattern did you use for the doublet? I have been looking for one in boys sizes and I have had no luck.

LadyShadow

I used McCalls M5214

Only thing though is the sizes for kids is 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. Then it is mens sml, med, lrg, and xl.

The only part of the pattern that I do not like is how the doublet top and bottom sections come together. But didnt have the time yesterday to rework that connection and had to just deal with it.

I have that same pattern as well. I bought it mainly to redraft it in different sizes for Boys, making my own waist and shoulder treatments.

Cool I think I have that, and with some tweaking it will look swell thank you!

As a part of the "Idle Hands" challenge over at Realm of Venus, I've made a 16th century muff.

It's partly based on a description of one Eleonora di Toledo had made in 1550; of pavonazzo (deep maroonish purple) velvet and lined with white fur, and partly on Cesare Vecellio's description of Venetian women's muffs of black velvet "or some other fine fabrics", lined with marten or sable fur, and closed with crystal or gold buttons.

Vecellio was kind enough to add an illustration of a muff, and along with two other illustrations I started working... I used synthetic black fur, deep purple velveteen, gold trims and gold buttons. And I love the result so much I wanna use it with my mundane clothes! Muffs to the world!

(ignore tired morning face... I had to take pictures early in the morning so I would not miss the deadline of the costume challenge...)

Proud mom brag:)

My daughter savannah (14) designed and created this costume completely on her own. The only thing I helped her with was pinning the black lace on the back. The red tulle skirt was formerly a canopy, lol.

She desperately wants to get a pair of steampunk goggles to go with it before next ren faire season.

ssssshhhhh. Dont tell...she'll die if she knows I posted it, lol.

I couldn't agree more, I'll use any excuse to dress up in garb/costume.   :)
You look fantastic.

I think the muff is great and you must be more tired than is apparent from the photo.

CenturiesSewing

This started out as part of my Halloween costume, but I never found the right material for the over gown. This is a high quality wine red silk dupioni I got for a song on e-bay, 2 layers of cotton twill for interlining, linen lining in the bodice. Hand bound eyelets in silk thread, which ended up handling differently then the usual cotton floss. I may never go back.  :D
The skirt is unline and finished in french seams with the hem bound in scraps of the same silk.

Under it I'm wearing my hand sewn linen/cotton shirt based off of the Pof4 diagrams. That was a fun summer project and gave me a few new insights on 16th century seamstresses.
