Lorraine

#405
I just finished a "Snow Queen" bodice for a member on the r/f forums. While it's obviously not meant to be HA I tried to stay away from anything too cheesy, and made the entire thing washable since the colors are pretty light. The fabric is a snowflake jacquard with cotton flatlining, drill interlining, and white twill lining. I used silver iron on trim for the front (thanks for the help Lady Kathleen!), fake fox fur cord edge for the neck and bottom, and glass pearls and silver beads for the front and sleeves. The sleeves also have white satin piping and little blue crystal drops.

Absolutely Stunning, Lorraine!!!!

Hope there will be photos of the lucky lady wearing this bodice.

I agree with the others - it's very beautiful, and so winter-y. What will she wear it with?

Marietta Graziella

It looks like it's going to be marvelously fun to wear!

Off topic to this, and I would appreciate if you started a new topic to answer this question...

On the last picture, what is that item in the center top?  It has holes in and appears to be a guide for the lacing holes.  Can you tell us more about it, please?
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

Lorraine

Thanks for all the compliments! It was a really fun project to design and make. I'm not sure what she's going to wear it with yet, my only instructions were to replace what she wore last year, which was a white fredericks of hollywood type corset with snowflake buttons sewn on it. The holes in the bottom picture are just the back grommets, they do look kind of funny when it's just lying flat on a table, you can see them more clearly here

Oh, that's...  ADORABLE!

And beautifully made.  Is there enough fabric and trim to do a matching skirt?  I'd love there to be matching shoes as well, complete with furry edges...   ;D ;D

Lorraine

It was actually made out of a jacquard tablecloth, I couldn't find any suitable upholstery fabric, so I did have enough scraps for a purse with some leftover. We were on a pretty tight budget though so this is all there will be for now. On the topic of fabric shoes, you wouldn't happen to know of any good patterns for them would you Kate? :)

The snowflake bodice is beautiful! Too bad you can't find another tablecloth for a skirt.
