Thank you, Gem... Minky...that's the stuff!  Very fitting name, definitely.  It's so incredibly soft... I just want to cuddle with it!  lol  Now I want to make a muff with mine, maybe with a padded heavy jacquard for the middle.  I am soooo easily distracted...  ::)

LadyStitch, I agree about the leather scrap garment.  The cloak would definitely be the way I would go, also.  I love your fabric scrap coat, but I think the leather might be a bit heavy or stiff for something that fitted.  Well, depending on the weight, of course.  I just think the drape and swing of a leather scrap cloak would be marvelous, though!

I saw one at Scarby many years ago and decided to make one.  No matter what you make it will be heavy, coat or cloak.  The leather I have is thin pig and elk leather.  I honestly got an amazing deal on it.  IT was stained 2nds and weird colors.  Hey for Faire odd colors are a good thing :)
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Love the hat, Rani!  The lace is perfect :D

Thank you, Bookwench!  :)

Stitch... I once saw a cloak made out of men's silk ties.  It was amazing!

Thank you so much, LadyK!  It was fun to make!  I'm afraid I have a new obsession right now... and it doesn't use any fabric at all.  :o   Please don't stone me...  lol

I've been learning all about art journaling, and making art cards... so I'm hoping to have something to post in the crafty project thread very soon!

I think I might have just a touch of Crafter's ADHD.  :-\  There are just SO MANY amazing ways to create out there, though!  It's hard to stick with just one...

For my nephews' Christmas present (a dress up box filled with tunics, crowns, capes, and now "chainmaille") I made a "chainmaille" shirt for a Knight's outfit.  They will also get two helms - I only had enough yarn to make one shirt.

It's far from perfect but I doubt they will care.  I got charcoal gray colored yarn with a metallic thread in it to give the "chainmaille" the proper look.  The pattern is one I made up - which is why it's not perfect- to give it the large honeycomb holes but in a shirt form.  I was going for a 14th C look.  :-)

And the coif for the knight outfit.  :-)  I managed to find a good metallic yarn for the coif.    Now to finish the jester and the prince outfits so my nephews will have a good medieval dress up trunk.

Here's the finished trunk of dress up clothing:

The jester's outfit is a parti colored tunic out of linen and the king's tunic is out of orangy rust colored silk.  I made the crown (wrapped up above the king's tunic) out of leather.

An 1870's Western Duster I was commissioned to make for a 7 year old in Northfield, Minnesota. My little guy loves the Old West era and  was elated when he opened his present. Dad said he wore it all Christmas Day. The Vest as well.

The duster is made out of a cream cotton denim. The accent fabric is a brown ultra suede. The buttons are wooden that I ordered from Lace Heaven.

My first attempt at an Elizabethan ruff.
All materials were from stash except the lace on the edges ($2.99 yd) and a spool of fishing line ($4.00)
The ruff is made of white silk organza, cartridge pleated onto a stiffened white linen neckband; the ruff itself is 15 feet long pleated onto a 15" neckband.
I used The Renaissance Taylor instructions, substituting Stitch Witchery for horsehair braid for stiffening; and cartridge pleating instead of stack pleats.
The edges of the ruff have 20lb fishing line to support the figure 8"s.  It should be fully washable by hand.
Now to make a set of cuffs.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

That is beautiful. And your thread about materials for it has me looking into making one. Thanks!
