What colour?

I'm having a colour dilemma.  For my Tudor gown I plan to use a dark blueish-green (known as popinjay in period) but I can't decide what colour to use for the foresleeves.  I know gold would match, but it's so overdone.  What else could match with a sprucey green?

Something in the rust tones might look nice with the bluegreen. Depending on how blue or green you could go from a bright rust/nearly orange to a warm nearly brown tone.

Silver would work as would certain shades of grey.  Burgandy would look good as well, but with the green - you would want to be careful of a 'Christmas-y" look.

I'd try differents shades of yellow as well - more mustard/brown, if you want to stay away from the 'gold' family.

I agree with Anna that a rich russet would look splendid! Or copper for somethnig metallic.

Try terracotta or clay as an option.

Possibly a period-acceptable rosey pink?

I have to ask  Internal sleeve or pull back? Because if you find an awesome damask like these and then pearled would be awesome!
If I were doing this the pull back would be fur or a velvet/een to make the most of my internal sleeve.

I really like this one!

And this one, I am getting this in the purple/gold/silver version!

I'm with guinea: a period pink would be beautiful (particularly with your coloring!).  I also really love the creamy colors Cilean posted.  What about a brown?  Either a beautiful deep chocolate, or a lighter acorn color?  Oh!  How about pewter grey?  Or better yet, a changing-color grey/gold taffeta?  Silkbaron is a great place to drool over colors...

Fabrics.com has a great tool called a Design Wall

I played around a bit with some of the colors mentioned here, and assuming the color closest to what I could find like Popinjay. The samples I chose aren't exactly Tudor, I don't think, but they let you play around with some ideas anyway. It's a fun toy I think. :)

*edit* Shoot! Looks like the design wall is empty of all but one sample this morninig as I look.  :'( Well, you get the idea anyway.
