Mini Canadian Invasion - perhaps a preFaire meeting?

There is a small contingent of us (well two right now, with others showing interest) coming from the Toronto area to invade Holly Grove on the weekend of the 19-20.  This is my second visit this year, which comes as a wonderful treat.

I don't think I have ever made it to the Faire before 9:30 to get myself dressed for the day, so I was curious - does anyone tailgate/meet in the parking lot before the faire?  Perhaps a bite to eat and maybe a drink, meet and conversate with some of your fellow Rennies before Holly Grove is prepared to accept us?  It is something I would particularly like to attend if it does happen, so please let me know so I can set my schedule.

And because a flail don't need reloading, that's why.

Yes, people do gather in the parking lot getting dressed and socializing, also there's a daily meet & greet at @Things-from-Rings.  It begins at 11:00 am for the R/F clan. It is located just before the red & yellow bridges on the left, before the joust field.

Is there something I can bring, be it food or drink, in the bright light of Saturday morn?  Something to eat to strengthen and ready the body, or something to drink to raise the spirit from its slumber?  I can think of a few elixirs and potions that could be conjured before the day which would help start the day off right, and I am happy to bring them along.

I fear though, that coming that morning from more than 4 hours away, that it will be difficult for me provide all for everyone.  I will need help, presumably from a few that do not have as long a path to follow.

If it is drink I am to bring, I would hope that other can come together to bring food of some type.  If another wishes to bring drink, then I will endeavour to supply food, although were there to be more than one source and type of food, I feel that it may only add to the merriment.

Alas, although MiRF is near and dear to my heart, I cannot claim to have it as my home Faire.  I am but a weary traveller, journeying from Faire to Faire, a Bedouin without a true base.  I do not wish to overstep my bounds by trying to organize something or this nature.  Please, if there be a local herald you know of, one the people will flock to, sing their name and let them come forward.  Socializing in one of my strengths, not organizing social gatherings.

We don't usually bring food to share with others  at meet & greet inside the fair, but if you should have elixirs or portions you would like to share (on the low-down) exchanges are sometime made. Occasionally some of us will venture out to someones carriage to partake in a small share of nourishment and libations.

Oh aye the Outlanders will be arriving from Bristol same said weekend not to mention much of the crews from Bristol  - fun and frivolity abound indeed.
It's pirate weekend again so the Brethren will be setting sail as well - much merriment will be around the shire not to mention that the wenches be hostin our Drench a Wench for charity again this year.

As for meeting outside the gate - everyone is rushing to get dressed before cannon so prolly other than what was already mentioned I might suggest to meet at the main pub - The Guiness Pub formerly Watney's for the ancients like me at a later time as well. Just to make sure you get everyone involved.

Good day, may Lady (raises eyebrow provocatively, sneezes twice)

Brent and I are coming over for sure.  One of his neighbors (who used to be a nationally ranked Celtic dancer) is trying to convince her husband to either come or let her come with us without him, and maybe one of the guys he works out with will come and bring his wife.

I wasn't thinking of bringing food or drink into the Faire (although I may have a small flask or two of a couple new Loki recipes I am working on, another reason to come see me) but rather a meeting in the parking lot, and a tailgate of sorts before the Faire, where I am not short changing or cheating the Faire.  People could show up a little earlier, get dressed and talk, or talk then get dressed, eating or drinking or whatever.

Have you seen the little picture to the left?  Do you know what it takes to put that on?  I need 30 minutes MINIMUM and someone to help me into all that.  I'm just suggesting getting there a little earlier to enjoy some food and drink and good company.  I am driving more than 4 hours Saturday morning to come to the Faire, leaving Toronto at around 5:00 am.  If we are going to gather, I'd just leave earlier.

I have to admit, it's really self serving.  I really want to meet more of the people that get to call MiRF home, and get to know them a little more than "hey how are you doing?"  "Not bad, you" at the pub.  That is cool when you all already know each other, but as a person who gets to come to Holly Grove not as often as some of you, I'd just like to get past the "Hey" stage.

By the way M'Lady, both Brent and I are coming "ahem" unescorted, giggle giggle indeed.....

One of the best things about MiRF is the people.  We welcome all, and love to greet, talk, laugh, share... it's like the best family in the world.  Since not all can make the meet and greet due to other commitments, make sure you stop by the pub too.  Saturday the 19th is my Saturday to work, so we (the wife and I) will not be attending that day but will be at faire on Sunday the 20th.  If you will be there Sunday, we will make it a point to be at the meet and greet that day (we sometimes get distracted and miss it) to make your acquaintence.
Nothing better in life than enjoying a pint amongst friends...Huzzah!

Oh aye in the parking lot then - we usually be in the parking lot hanging by the motor homes -running amok amok amok (spinning around thrice) or later at the pub we look forward ta seein ya mate

Robert- Say hello this time.  I am REALLY easy to spot this year.  I am the one pounding the daylights out of Robin Hood...  ;)

Dale

Sorry, Dale.  It was a short visit on a cold day with an unhappy baby, the main reason my wife has sent me for a return loop, to have some of the fun I missed.

Saturday I will be in my armor, Sunday on a brown rogue/ranger deal.  I will do my hair the same both days for ease of recognition.

IF I am ignorant enough not to fing you and buy you the pint that I am currently down, feel free to find me and let me know, and off to the bar I will scurry.

Robert,

Thanks for the offer, but as I am under contract this year, that mean no tasty adult beverages.  Plus they closed the after hours pub, so that can't happen either.

As this is a three day, I am typically out the door at 7:15, and in bed by 10.  Monday I have to drive my father to Ann Arbor for some medical tests early in the morning, so I must skoot home that day too.

MiRF, it's not an adventure, it's a JOB. ;-)
