I know this isn't renaissance-related, but I took a break and made a christening gown for a family who  lost their heirloomed gown via Fed Ex... they gave me an old wedding dress from the family, and asked me to make it into a christening gown.  I had to hand sew all but the skirt seams, as it was so tiny and gathered and so many layers it wouldn't work on my machine... fun to miniaturize things for a change!!

How sad that their heirloom was lost in the mail - hopefully it will turn up eventually.

That is beautiful! I love the blue ribbon on it too - just gorgeous. Very well done =)

so pretty

i do hope they find their original gown though

How beautiful!!! I love that it was made from a wedding gown!

Hopefully they'll get the heirloom gown back. I actually made heirloom style gowns for my nieces last spring. It is very fun to work in miniature, but you definitely have to think about things differently at that scale.

Great job!

I used the tiniest hooks and eyes, and my arthritic fingers kept dropping them.. on all that lace, and they were white, so I had the darndest time finding them... :D. I think many sets are still in my couch cushions.....  no wonder I love hook and eye tape for my CW and Elizabethan sewing!!!
