I find bare feet to have a certain sexiness about it, although you ladies are surely looking for ren period garb I'm sure...just my .02...lol

That's after-faire fun!  ;)
No, really, they say unlacing is pure pleasure? Try un-booting after several hours of walking and sweating in them. It's so nice to soak one's feet after peeling off the socks. And, to answer the question, I do smooth knee-high black socks for everything but my Scots garb where I wear natural colored wool knee socks.

I do beleive I will have to stick around after faire sometime to participate in the "fun"...now that I know such beauty partakes as well    ;)

Colder weather--my TweetyBird socks.  ;D

Warmer weather--doesn't matter, because they never show with boots.
Show me your tan lines..and I'll show you mine!

Since I have a cut-away gown that show off my legs, I wear thigh-high stripey socks from the awesometastic stupendous shop SockDreams.

Since they're a heavy kitted sort, I wear a pair of normal socks as insulation.

While they don't help my blisters, I wear a pair of clunky cute Mary Janes (Mudd brand, so they have a grunge-looking 2 inch platform on them) with some adorable shoe buckles a friend gave me.

Especially now, Torrid will usually have stripey socks.  Hot Topic might as well.  I've gotten the thin knit ones from HT before, and they wore well for several years.

Thanks, everyone!

Yesterday at Penney's I found a lovely pair of marled rayon knee-highs in a sort of "natural wool" color.  Yummy!  They're so soft and smooth and the knit is really fine.  I'm trying to decide if wearing them again today makes doing a whole load of laundry worth it....

They're not on their website, but now I'm sort of loving these.

I need to find more natural compression socks.  Any idea?

You can try looking here. I have ordered from them before with no problems.

Thank you for this link. Wow...just wow...I'm in thigh high heaven.  :) :) Anna wants the cute ones with the bows and ruffles, Pirate Rose wants the stiped and skulls and me...I like the nubby over long ones for fall.  :)

I wear socks my daughter knits for me.  I have a few pairs to match my skirts, and this year I want her to try knee socks with elastic -we'll see how that turns out.  I'm glad she's a fast knitter, because I prefer the custom fit and feel of hand knitted socks.  And yes, I'm learning to knit my own.
