My friends and I are thinking about going to Dracula's Ball for Halloween, but I broke my Goth corset while attempting to put it on by myself before dressing as a fairy for faire in September and don't like any of the corsets our local hottopic anymore,
What I'm looking for is a corset preferably with straps but it's ok if it doesn't. That is at least modest enough not to get arrested but that will support D's, and preferably one that doesn't need a chemise to be legal...

this is kind of what I had before, but it was red, and gorgeous, and I need to fix it, but have no time for sewing with school and work :(

I have a fairly limited budget, which is one of the reasons I was looking at hot topic, I'm trying to stay under $65 which is very difficult, I found a few on ebay that are going for very inexpensive, but most are made overseas and I worry about them not arriving by the 31st...

Any local recommendations for an an off the rack corsodice that won't kill my pocketbook?

Pyramid Collection has some corsets and bodices not far from your price range. Of course there is shipping to contend with too. I ordered a jacket from them and several people told me the sizes ran small, but my jacket was actually a wee bit too large, so ymmv!

LadyShadow

Fredricks of Hollywood sometimes has really nice corsets for decent prices and look well enough to be worn alone.

Good luck with finding one.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

I bought one for the pattern, on clearance, for about $30.00 (although it's too big).  It was from Torrid. the fluffy woman's store.  they already have their halloween stuff out.  I would bet you could find something.  good luck

I am suggesting Pyramid Collection too. They have some fun stuff.  ;)

When I was trying to find a vegan friendly corset to costume of Blind Mag in the LI Shadowcast of Repo! The Genetic Opera, I found oodles of cute corset tops here and they are a brink and morter shop also.  http://www.charlotterusse.com/family/index.jsp?totalProductsCount=28&pageType=family&categoryId=3456439&cp=3456439&f=PAD%2FStyle%2Fcorset&fbc=1&fbn=Style%7Ccorset&view=all
Hope you can find what you are looking for!

Yup we have a charlotte russe around here, I love that store and own a few of their corsets, trouble is, even the larges, they fit everywhere, but the puppies kind of fall out of them.

If it's support for the girls that is the problem try Lane Bryant http://www.lanebryant.com/category/Cacique/Sexy-Lingerie/912/pc/4043.uts They start at size 12 and their stuff is made to support larger ladies.

After looking at the pictures on this site, it sparked a memory of a blog I read a couple of months ago.  It appears to be a remake/Knock off of Damsel in This Dress products.  Here is a link to her blog about it.  http://damseldress.blogspot.com/2009/06/setting-record-straight-sigh.html

you might try here: http://www.torrid.com/torrid/store/nodePage.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302041149&bmUID=1254927912331

They're made for plus sizes so I think they could handle the size of your puppies. :)

*sigh* A bodice style SHIRT and a CORSET are two different things. If you want a CORSET.... go here....http://www.versatelier.com/index.php

Otherwise, I'd recommend Torrid...

There we go blue, I knew I was describing it wrong, but lacked the terms to actually describe it...

So, you want the shirt?  (Not trying to be rude, just want to make sure I understand you)

Try Wet Seal.  I walked past one of those in a mall the other day, and they had a really cool "corset" shirt on display in the window.  I have no idea if it has any support, but it looked really neat.

yes, a bodice/corset inspired article of clothing that can be worn in public generally without a chemise..
This is the one I had before except in Red

it laced on the side tighter and zipped in the back, had like 8 pieces of boning... I wore it a couple times as a fairy as well... and mine was like way tighter than the model wears

Kat, I think we were all pretty clear on what you meant from your OP.  :)

I second Frederick's.  They have a whole section of "outerwear corsets," and it looks like they're all running about $60 and under.  I will say that they look a little more "corsety" than the Hot Topic one you had, though.

Whoops!  Forgot the link.

I have a couple of corsets from Timeless Trends (http://www.timeless-trends.com/)... It's been a LONG while since I bought them though, so I'm not sure on the $$ range... and I didn't have time to browse it thoroughly.  Anyways, they fit *perfectly* and are quite comfortable for me. :)  Hope this helps.
