The Period Movie Review

Scarlett

Baroness Doune - is this your own list of personal favorites?  A list of recommendations?  Or are you compiling an all inclusive list?  If this is an all inclusive list which you plan to maintain,  you might want to include the date of the movie as there are often more than one releases with the same name.  For instance, there are many Ivanhoe movies.  I have one on DVD that is from 1997 that was originally a tv mini series and came in an A&E collection.

If you're putting together an all inclusive list, I have some titles I could add.  If it's just recommendations, the release date will help people who might want to rent the movie know which one you are referring to.  Either way, it's a great idea! Thanks for putting it together.

This is just a listing of the movies related to this time period that I have in my personal collection and that I could find lying around.

I do own several versions of some movies, for example Lion in Winter and MacBeth.  But you are right, Scarlett, the dates would be helpful.  I will be adding the dates.

Please feel free to add others to the list.

The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey is a movie about the Black Death. This came out in 1988 and is in Black and white and Color. The story is about a young boys dream of the future as they seek a cure for the Black Death. The Color is modern times, but the Black and WHite are during the time of the Black Death.

It is an interestng movie and quite good. It is also near to impossible to find on DVD for America

Technically, pirates movies would take place after the Renaissance as stated by the Baroness (circa 1450-1600). I'll go look but I thought there was a separate thread for pirate movies (maybe I'm thinking of the old board)
