Howdy folks,

We have confirmed the dates of Oct 17th and 18th with management for us to fly up and film at ya'lls fine looking festival. Huzzah! The Movie is a little film project I've been working on for a couple of years now, and we plan to wrap the shoot at Maryland this weekend. For a bit more info to get a feel for the project, check out our preview trailer:

http://www.huzzahthemovie.com/

The trailer on the main site takes a bit to load, but it's hi-res. If you'd like to see it at a lower res version check out our facebook or myspace which is also linked from there.

So, with all that being said we are looking for patron/playtron interviewees. We would like to get some folks actually doing their "car routine" in the morning, putting on all the extra bits that just don't seem to fit while driving, chatting with friends, having a pint before going in, etc. etc. We would also like to get folks interacting, and most likely a "walking" interview. Just basically me asking some questions while you enjoy your day at the festival.

We are pretty non-obstrusive, and are completely respectable of cast being in character and do not bother them in lanes as such. So please don't think of us flying up to show the "dark side of the rennies" so to speak, as we are playtrons ourselves ;-)

So if anyone is interested, please contact me here! Also, if there are any sites/sounds you recommend us filming let us know as well ;-)

You'll likely find a lot of folks doing the car routine here, heh.  Even me, and I don't really have that much, but I almost never wear my belt when driving.

For sites and sounds, you can't go wrong with the White Hart, our local musical hub.  That one's straight ahead from the gate, large wooden hart statue on the backside of it, you pretty much can't miss it.  The Dragon's the best place for people interaction, though... but then, some of that interaction might push your rating up to R, even NC-17 if it's later in the day... just saying... >.>

If you really want to get a good idea of how popular this faire is, though, there's two places you absolutely need.  "The Serengeti", AKA the long stretch of shadeless expanse that leads from the gate road back to the jousting arena.  Then there's the "Back Alley", which for being a back alley, is very highly traveled.  This would best be filmed from the hill leading down from the rear of the Dragon.  And, you can swing over from there and catch Dunk-a-Wench, and the Axe Throw's "Stupid Hat Area", as they are right around the bend.
What's a Grecian Urn?  Are we talking union, or non-union?

The two largest groups of "regulars" tend to congregate around the White Hart Tavern and the Dragon Inn.  There are multiple "meet & greets" at the Dragon around 11AM.  If you get to the White Hart before 10:30AM, you can meet regulars without having to compete with the stage acts.  You might want to tell them *which* documentary you're with, as there's another documentary who's been filming at MDRF for most of this season.

Everybody's going to plug their favorite act, so I'll start by suggesting the O'Danny Girls.  I don't know of any other wench groups that are so "in your face" as the O'Dannys, plus this is the only faire you can see them at.  Look for their site on Facebook, check out the pictures, and if you decide that you're interested in seeing the performance with all of the patron-supplied props, then make the 2:30 show.

Don't miss Pub Sing.  Come inside and get a seat about half an hour before the show starts. I'm guessing that Sunday's show may be slightly "better" than Saturday's.  If it's late in the evening and a lady starts singing in Gaelic to the accompaniment of a lone guitar, start filming the audience after the second verse.

So if Will is going to plug the O'Danny Girls, I'm totally going to plug Fight School (and you can visit them on your jaunt through the Serengeti as they play at the Market Stage between the Boar's Head Tavern and the Joust Field at 11am and 5:15pm). Seriously, my favorite act at the faire. I been watching them at least once a weekend since they were the first act I ever saw at the festival on my first visit to MDRF in 2005. Comedy and swordplay and lots of good interaction between the guys and the audience (because more than a few of us are "frequent-fliers" for the show and might heckle a bit).

If you're checking out people doing their car routine in the mornings, you'll also find a couple of groups that typically tailgate. Usually in the first two rows of cars nearest the front gate. You can't really miss 'em. :)

Tailgate Saturday morning will start between 0830 - 0900.

This is our favorite as well.  So I will join Analise on this.   ;)

If you would like a kid's eye perspective Clan Ravenwolves will loan out our kids.   ;D Our youngest has grown up "playtron" and the oldest daughter has progressed from RenRat to Playtron to Bubble Fae (working at faire).

Good question.  I was told that the normal tailgating did not take place, as everybody stayed huddled inside their cars until the second after cannon for warmth.  I never spotted them at the White Hart, nor did I talk to anybody at the Dragon who saw them.  I also sent them a PM about various groups and which people to talk to about what, but never received an acknowledgment.

I don't know either. Saturday I showed up just before cannon and Sunday I didn't get there till well after (and ended up leaving early that day).

I certainly don't recall seeing anyone filming.

Though despite the weather, I did think it would be cool if they did. Sort of the, "this is how the die-hards do faire" view.

Whats a little rain, or marble sized hail storm like we had last season at Sterling. I seem
to find an artisan or 2 every year that does TRF or Scarby and remarks on how when it rains
down there nobody is around, and you folks just carry on like it is a beautiful day in
the northern states.  I have always seemed to dry out eventually. Would be interesting
if they did film a wet day at faire, i almost like the washout days better in some aspects.

Though I'm not sure how it would fit into their storyline, I'd loved for them to have filmed some of the rain shows, like the Hooligans singing Ring of Fire, or the Pyrates at the Globe with the audience on stage, or the O'Dannys taking requests (and a few hallucinogens, judging by their performance ;)), Capt. Moone as the Gorton Fisherman, and countless other examples.

The washout days get rid of the "tourists".  Although they're financially hard on the vendors and the faire itself, they end up being lots of fun for the regulars.

This just got posted on Facbook. I'm assuming it's the same thing.

Hart O Faire disappointed that faire filming got rained out last weekend, but very much looking forward to final weekend of faire! Wench feast and slide!

Hart O Faire is a completely different effort.  Hart O Faire have been at faire nearly every weekend this year.  The people producing this effort are based out of the DC area and don't need to fly in.  In addition, the director for Hart O Faire is a member of the local Wenches Guild. Although Hart O Faire's effort centers on many of the same themes as Huzzah!, this movie will be based on the Maryland faire community exclusively.
