If this is in the wrong place...SORRY!!

I bought my father a drinking horn last year at GaRF. It's sealed with beeswax. I have two questions...

1. How do I wash this without removing or messing up the beeswax?? It's been sitting, wrapped in tissue paper for months, so I'd prefer it get washed before he uses it this weekend.

2. Does he drink it with the point up or down? I remember the guy at the booth telling me which way, but I can't remember now!!

Thanks!

no idea about the cleaning, but drink with point down unless you're looking for a shower!

It's odd, I've never heard of sealing a drinking horn with beeswax--mine was sealed with a food-grade lacquer. With mine though, I usually try to rinse it out after I've drunken out of it, and only wipe the rim area down. Whenever it gets a bit sticky though, I just add a bit of soap and water, hold my hand over the top, and then shake the horn vigoursly, and then rinse. It's really the only way I know to clean it, since my hand and a sponge won't fit, nor will a handled dish scrubber.

Hope that helps a bit!

As mentioned, warm water with a little soap. Selena suggested a good way by placing your hand over the top and shaking.  Avoid hot water as it can thin the wax out over time.

Here is another way that works really good: Fill the horn with clean, cool water and drop in one of those fizzy denture cleaning tablets. Let it do it's work, than rinse it out. Works great!

Drink with the point down. Repeat
VENI, VIDI, VELCRO! Spelling and grammatical errors are beyond my control, it's the way I'm wired.
