I must be going through withdrawls or something. I have not bought any significant amounts of fabric in 3 weeks!!! :o

Call the Fabric Police!!!  :o

I bought fabric last night.

At 3 oclock in the morning.

Because I was debating all day long about this pretty pretty silk and decided at 3 am that I needed silk that looks like the color of a bubble.  I just needed it.   I have no idea why I needed it, but I do.

The problem is not that I bought the silk...it's that, at 3 am...I sent it to my parent's house accidentally.  Mom better not steal it!  :D

What were you doing up at 3am???  :o

I do that when I get sick sometimes.  I had a migraine most of the day and ended up sleeping about 6 hours to make it go away.  After that, I ended up just playing on the computer and trying to kill off everyone I could in one of my games.  :-)

OMG!!!  While at one of the malls here today (to see a movie with my renlet) we wandered into a high end furniture/home decor store because I noticed a whole wall of upholstery samples and it occurred to me to ask what they did with them when they were discontinued, or changed out for the season...  Well, it just so happened that they had gotten their new fall shipment of samples in this very day, and had pulled all the old samples that were no longer being offered.  The manager said he usually just (get this...) THROWS them AWAY!!!   :o  :o  :o

Needless to say I walked out of the store with two huge bags of samples in the 16" x 16" size, of extremely high end upholstery samples... for FREE!!!  And not only that, but he told me when he will be getting his next shipment (Nov.), and invited me to come back for more then!!!  I haven't even had time to go through them, but they're almost ALL gorgeous, I can tell!!!

Belt pouches... I see lots and lots of belt pouches in my near future, and I do believe I might be offering some of them up for sale this fall...  :D  I think I will also be checking other furniture stores to see what they do with their samples, as well!!!

I'm sooooooo excited!

Score!! You could make a killer quilt as well. I used to work in a high end men's clothes store in the past, and there were lots of fine wool fabric samples there (for suits etc). Every year, when new samples arrived, a guy brought home the old ones and made fantastic quilts. What a good alternative to throwing them away! But I definitely see pouches too. :D

Rani Zemirah

With what I got today I could probably make a good 4 quilts, at least... and maybe have a bit left over!  But I'm pretty sure I'm going to be using them mostly for pouches... although the idea of a patchwork cloak has just occurred to me, as well!  Still... the thought of a bit of extra cash for Faire sounds even better...  ;)  heheh

How dare they just throw them away.  How horrible.  Glad to know they have found a new home and new life  ;D

We had a local quilters quild that once a year after the local apparel factory did their flannel shirt run would take a truck out to the factory.  The factory would let them take away any scap flannel that they could haul away.  I was given a large shopping bag full of the flannel as a freebie.  I made 3 quilts out of it before I passed it on to the next person.  I actually made a matching the plaids patch work quilt for my sister in law.  Looked great too.

The quilters ended up using most of their haul each year to make flannel hand tied quilts to hand out to the homeless during the winter.  Didn't have to be pretty but they sure were warm.

It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

I'm VERY excited about them!  I went through them last night, and there is a whole large bag of different chenille textures, and another of mixed brocades, both upholstery and drapery thicknesses, with a few lovely tweeds and even some lighter weight cottons in the mix.  They are almost all in gorgeous fall colors, with different lovely shades of rust, umber, ocher, gold, brown and sienna, and look as though they might need to be split equally between pouches and one, maybe two, beautiful heavy quilts. Some of the chenille's with the thicker naps seem less suited to pouches just because they are more modern cuts, but they will make wonderful designer patchwork, and I might just make it reversible...  Or I could end up with something else entirely!!!  :D  I'll try to get some pics of some of them up later...  They're beautiful!!!

Lady Stitch, what a wonderful gift to give...  Warmth is something most of us take for granted, but there are many who never do.  Those ladies are surely blessed...

Ok, here are a few pics of some of the most outstanding (IMO) brocades, damasks and jacquards in the mix.  Pardon the size of the pics... I took them with my phone, and they're not the best.

Folded in half, fanned out on my bed:

So many of the colors compliment each other that I will be able to mix and match for things like closure flaps and straps for the various styles of pouches I plan to make:

Some of the fabrics just leave me speechless with their beauty and richness...

That diamond pattern is actually an incredibly deep espresso colored embroidered velvet, although it looks black in the lighting.  I didn't even bother to include any of the chenilles, just because there are at least 3 times this many...  ;D

Oh... that gorgeous red and gold damask in the background is my bedspread, so it's probably fairly obvious why all of these colors just naturally appeal to me!  :D

O.M.G.! Did you weep with joy?!
So freaking BEAUTIFUL. And so many pouches for you too make......
Keep us posted on style and cost.

Well, I've certainly been grinning a great deal today, that's for sure!  LOL  I have a pattern somewhere in my stash from either McCalls or Simplicity, I believe, that has something like 5-6 different styles of pouch, and I am getting even more ideas for things just from looking at the fabrics...  I think I might make some Favor sashes to sell, as well, just because I have so many lovely chenilles in solid colors!  My mind is still spinning with all the possibilities...  :D
