Any Scots attending the RenDezvous are invited (and will be encouraged ;D) to march Saturday or Sunday with the Queens own Highlanders. We muster at 12:30 at the Scots cottage (across from the birds of prey stage). There will be some loaner blades available from the regiment (although being highland weekend I would recommend bringing a blade as they may all be taken).
PFC Gryphon of the QOH
Ach, a good reason to bring me new baskethilt... :)
If the Pink Pirate's alter ego didn't have Quizzik with him you might be able to talk him into marching, but he only has a short sword and a rapier.
I think properly attired ladies can march also. There is usually someone in the parking lot passing out pieces of tartan.
I might have to look after Quizzik as the Pink Pirate's alter ego wants to march but Quizzik isn't very Scottishy. ;D
I'm a Scot....and will be kilted and gladly march in the parade.... however... I do nae have a weapon.
Do you have to march, or can I be a true Scot and stumble?

....nice.
lol
Well...the parade is after noon so it tends to be a task for a Scot to march in a straight line after that hour.
lol ;D
Let's see.... one wheelbarrow for Scotsman... one wheelbarrow for Merlin.... hmmmm. We might have a whole train of these... hmmm.
:D
I've asked to be able to join the Regiment in the parade on one day this weekend so hopefully I'll be able too!
Sounds like an added parade of wheelbarrows. ;D

Not sure exactly how many blades are available at the cottage (i know for sure its at least 5 or 6I do have a couple of extras that I can bring along(one is quite light but the other two are on the heavyish side).

We prefer that everyone marches(but safety and not stabbing patrons is more important than staying in step ;) ), but as it is highland weekend the regiment will be recruiting pretty much everyone that we can, so im sure as long as you can stumble in time with the drum it should be ok ;D

the officers in the regiment have asked that we all bring extra plaid this weekend, so im sure there will be extras to pin on if you dont have any plaid to wear

Ok.... well.... if there's a spare weapon available...I'll gladly sport it.
If not....and that's a requirement of marching.... I can sit out.
I'm in the pipe and drums at our local fire department but not near good enough to snare yet.
I just found out via the Regiment newsgroup that they will be recruiting and inviting everyone (garbed and mundanes) to tie on a plaid strip and join with the Scots in the parade, so marchin with a weapon is optional and the invitation is open to everyone, you dont even have to have a kilt. I believe Queen Margaret is trying to get a battalion worth of Scots and honorary Scots in the parade ;D. Merlin, I am planning on being at the RenDezvous get together in the parking lot so I can loan you a blade then if you like, im planning on getting there at 9ish.
This is a completely random question....
BUT here goes anyway :P
Does anyone have a sash of either Clan MacPhail or Clan Chattan tartan?

JM....very good. I'll be in a blue Toyota 4-runner with a Scottish flag..... clad in Gunn Tartan and gladly serve you up a mimosa or a snort of Highland Park 18...or both. I'll be handing out name tags as well.
I'll have one with your name in it waiting.
See ya there cousin !
And i'll have a wheelbarrow with your name on it, Brother. ;D
*after a few snorts of both of our flasks and some Rusty Nail shots, we may both need one*

Good God man.... who will push it? Should we get an Irish cousin to steer?
I've only got blood in Scotland and Texas... I do nae think the Texans will be too keen on the idea.
The mental picture is too funny! Do you put the piper before the wheelbarrow- or after it? LOL! Get Widdershins the leprechaun to push!
I am a Scot too. Clan Innes and Lord A was clan Cummings.
I think I'll just give my Royal wave to the parade from my corner by the pub! And a big smile to all the scowling, dour, Scots! LOL!

I am at the King's pub across from the hat shop.! Happy to have any R/Fers join me! Hugs Scotsman and Amras! I would be honored by your company!

In the event of an invitation, this member of Clan Stewart looks forward to lifting a few with his cousins. 'Course with a Queen present, I guess I should bring a royal kilt.
Looking forward to seeing you also, Blushing!
Hector any lad wearing any kilt is fine with me! Do join us at the pub! All clans most welcome!
My overly familiar will be there sporting his kilt too! LOL!

ALMOST, Lass! I made it out under me own power... i thank the Lord for me Blackthorn, though. :D
*but who was poolside a few hours later, drinking a beer AND who was last out?*
Yes Fraser, I was quite impressed that you were at the pool lol
We'll call it the " internal fortitude of the Scots" that kept me upright and rolling along... :D ;)
i think it was the blackthorn that kept ya upright lol.... now rolling along?....we'll call that part internal fortitude lol!
"Internal fortitude" being a euphemism for Johnny Walker, then? :P heheh
Wish we'd been able to make it over to see all of you at the Super 8, but it was a non-stop weekend for us, also, and there just weren't enough copies of me to make the rounds... ;)
