OK, it appears we may be here for a while so I am opening this up for discussion.
I loaded a story into the new forum. Actually I had to do it by posting and posting and posting.
One post will accept 20,000 characters.
We've logged WAY more than that in the 56+ pages of writing.
Now...any ideas?
Do we wait to see if we have our old home back?
Shall we do a synopsis and then post the last page or two?
Jack's last post and mine got lost in the crash and burn but we both have them stored in our computers.
Everyone is logged on here except Lilaney and she can't be far behind.
This is now open for discussion.
I think, if we do anything here, it might be prudent to just give a synopsis and the last few pages, and then go from there...it would be too hard to load it all here!
I don't think we should wait, for fear we lose our momentum and aren't able to gain it again...I mean, we've had "dry spells" but I don't want it to be a Dead Man's Drought! If we get our old forum back pretty quickly, I don't think it'd be to hard to carry things over that we've developed here, and if we don't ever get it back, well...we have to move on, I suppose...

Mad Jack, if you want to start the new DMT 2 with your lost post and I add mine, then we can go from there. I can transcribe the last few pages of DMT1 along with a synopsis of sorts.

For those not familiar with Douglas Adams'
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, here's a bit about the Infinite Improbability Drive:

It startled him even more when just after he was awarded the Galactic Institute's Prize for Extreme Cleverness, he got lynched by a rampaging mob of respectable physicists who had finally realized that the one thing they really couldn't stand was a smartass.

As you all can see, I took what Mad Jack had sent me and took the story from the point that the Knight Hammer was stolen and we had to join with El Lobo.
Because DMT is really just a series of storylines combined into one. I thought this was a good jumping off point (figuratively)--MASON, GET AWAY FROM THAT GANGPLANK, THERE WILL BE NO DIVING OFF THE SIDE OF THE SHIP!--and we can continue with DMT2.
If it is agreeable to everyone, I suggest that DMT1 be locked so no one gets confused and posts into that.
Do we have an accord? Doesn't matter. What Captain Wench says, goes...

I'd always envisioned it as a Mafia structure; a kingpin (who we could refer to as "The Governor" or "The Commodore") and his lieutenants, employing just enough control to keep things from imploding. But all in all an extremely laissez faire environment, tempered by the "Pirate's Code". The bulk of the common elements one would find in a ship's articles serve as de facto laws, enforced by the "citizenry".
How does that sound? Close to what you're looking for?
I'm putting this model forward because it's similar to the arrangement on Madagascar circa 1700. I tend to sidestep the whole guild thing because I'm terribly allergic to them.

That sounds workable. There could also be lieutenants or sub-bosses who are working the population in the different parts of town. I could see us having to deal with one person at the docks for repairs and a totally different group for supplies. Of course that also leaves room for several different "currents" operating below the surface, I'm sure all the major powers have their agents and informers in place.

It would be at least another day or two before it would wear off on it's own. We should be back aboard by the evening, and Blackjack will feed him enough of the antidote to restore him to motion, and wipe out his memory of the past few days.

I thought it a fair exchange, Brother Timothy. I'm so glad I didn't upset any plans you may have had, that worried me a bit. In many ways it was of your own design.
First the flash of light from the church steeple. I wondered what could cause such a reflection of sunlight?? Some kind of metal. Whats on top of a church steeple? Usually a cross.....maybe a gold cross? A special cross?
Then when the vile citizens of Le Ville du Tratire were suddenly cowed by your appearance I had to wonder. Why? Just the sight of a monk wouldn't be enough to quiet such an evil lot as these characters are.

From personal experience, Sailors don't care about small details such as that.
Age, weight, size never mattered, they would 'throw out a line' (pardon the pun) just to see what happened. Sometimes they simply did it for the practice and to ammuse the woman in question.
Or, the women of 'questionable ammusement'.
I have had to tell many a wolf in sailor's clothing to "reel it back in; your chain's draggin'"
A good sea story happened on the 2001 Med Cruise when one of my E-nothing's caught more than even he could handle. And an important moral was learned by all.

Sorry about the lapse, things got a little hectic with part of the Scout troop on the Appalachian Trail (they managed to walk across the state of Maryland), a son on staff at Scout camp in the North Carolina mountains, the Hibernian softball team actually winning two games in a row (right now you're probably thinking of brown robed monks playing softball), and of course the day time job that pays the bills is getting a bit involved.
Ok, I've filled in that slot I was holding, will post again tonight with my trio at St. Dimas and finding something concealed within the walls of the sanctuary, this will then leave me in position to make a third installment which will include a mad dash back to the ship.

1. piratess
Referring to the modern day Women Pirate, IE: Not a Wench, in so much as; she the Piratess considers herself to be equally qualified in the pirating profession and/or genre,as any male pirate. Not as a "play thing" or "pretty poppet" to be "plundered."
She will most likely be well armed and can usually be found captaining or navigating the ship. Certainly not a woman to be trifled with.
Mary Read, Anne Bonney, Grace O'Malley and Shi Xainggu are all wonderful examples of a true piratess.
They forgot 'parking the ship' and 'tent shopping but avoiding the blue flag specials'.

The Readers' Digest version--
Honour wanted Jack to give up the sea. On their way back to Barbados, they encountered his mortal enemy, Diego de Castille y Mendoza. A battle resulted, the ship was practically destroyed, and Jack took a hit that almost killed him. Honour dug the ball out of his shoulder and saved his life.

The story behind the pic is I 'borrowed' the hat of one of our privateer Captain's on cast and turned it into my hat; using two of the ugliest feathers I could find.

Lil have a great time. Be careful, I started with a son in Tigers, and now I'm a Scoutmaster with a son working on his Eagle Project. Get in the right pack and troop and its a great time. I'm scheduled to take the boys sailing in the Florida Keys for a week in June 2009!

I miss the scouts. I'm an Eagle who beacame a Assistant Scoutmaster, who tried to for a Venture Crew. Obviously it did not work the way i wanted. But never the less i miss scouting. My Daughter is trying to get me to become a Girlscout Master, but i dont know about that. Maybe i will just wait till my son is ready.
My daughter earned her Gold Award for Girl Scouts, and while you may not wish to be Troop Leader, if you guys hook up with the right troop Girl Scouts can be great and they always need experienced Troop Committee members. If its the camping and outdoors you want, you'll find a lot of girls who want the same thing and just need some interested adults to open the door for them.
If its Boy Scouts and you don't wish to be tied down to one troop right now, check out volunteering as a commissioner for your local council. Remember the 100th anniversary is just around the corner, in 2010 everyone's meeting at the Hill!
Well it has come to it. I took my daughter to girl scouts, and got roped into cub scouts. The only question is, will i be an assistant or a scoutmaster. It also looks like white rose will be a girl scout leader.

Well i just got word that i will be running the Weblow program. So i will have about 7 little victims to mold ;)
CRF is a big Question mark. The only day we can make it this year is the 18th, and that is assuming i can manage the funds. Having both of us at part time status is making life a bit difficult.

This is a group effort. If you all think we should go to El Dorado, I can always have Wench change her mind at the last minute.

I don't want anyone to feel that this is turning into a 'Jack and Honour' story.
So what I would like is your input.

Seeing as I forgot what I forgot when I wrote the first time.
Here goes.
DMT has been a wonderful staple to the 'Pirate' forum since its inception
(See? I didn't say conception!) in 2006.
And, in that time, our vessel has meandered all over the warm waters of the Carribean.
From our home port of Glen Livet, where we always seem to cause nothing but trouble and hilarity.
Over to Tortuga, where I think there has been a blanket ban put out for us to ever return. Or, at least till key people die, then we can go back :)
To some lesser known islands.
And, in that time, our characters have grown, matured, taken off, spawned new characters, and overall just had a good time.
WW, you pose an interesting proposition that is in keeping with this wanderlusting band of brigands.
Honestly, I don't believe that Jack and Honour have 'threadjacked' the show.
Their story has simple had main stage for awhile.
Which makes Hibernian's tale even more thrilling!!
We have so many undercurrents of storyline simply buzzing to continue, and if we are all agreeable to the idea that this story needs 'fresh waters' to sail, then let's do it.
But, I believe, in keeping with our mode of Tall Tale Telling.
We have to revert to Plan B....
because, as we all know, Plan B is always more exciting and a hell of a lot more fun than simply walking round the corner for a quart of milk.

I just want it to continue, it doesn't matter to me where things are headed :) And even if Jack and WW have the spotlight now--which I think they do--I think the spotlight keeps shifting. I mean, there was the section of drama when Elinor had the bullet wound, and all that...there Elinor had the spotlight. Now Brother Timothy is getting a little of the spotlight :) I think that comes with all of us contributing to this wonderful tale, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Plus, if we did sail to Europe...Elinor has part Romani-heritage :) So I could do some research and could work that in, somehow... ;)

The way I figure, the demon is gone, the cabin is a wreck, the occupants are a bit worse for wear, but everyone survives. I expect Mad Jack's got a bit of a concussion from connecting with that door. I always imagine Elinore waking up and still imaging herself Captain, oops did Wench hear that? And there will be a some pages from a certain book in the treasure box for the monk.

Anyways, it wasn't long before Kiss-Me-Kate, Lilaney, Marvos, White Rose, Elinore Hakebourne and Hibernian joined in.
Mad Jack Wolfe and Black Jack Roberts joined us a bit later.
Guest appearances by Deadbishop, Laird Guardn' MCrack, Captain Bacardi, Teach, Captain Sean Daniels and while he couldn't write, his appearance was memorable--BLUE!
And what you now see is the culmination of three year's worth of laughter and a labour of love.

and I beleive Briggs is topside bossing around the crew, Duckie is either in his stateroom, headed for the Surgery, or topside with Briggs; this is at the discrection of the next writer who needs that character for something.

Relax Lil, I know you were kidding, besides unbeknowst to all but the DM, my habit is made from the fabled "brown cloth of piety", to strike it is an automatic additional deduction of 100 hit points and the attacker can not rise from a kneeling (prayful) position for five turns. LOL, Lord I miss those friday evenings of beer, pizza and ADD!
Now for something completely different; just confirmed today that I will be able to make the "writers conference" the first weekend of May at TNRF! Arrive Friday, depart Monday...Huzzah, pass the Guinness, Brother Timothy is back in town!

OK so I spent faire time with none other than Laird Guardn' MCrack this weekend.
Laird had a post from a year ago that he never posted. It tells what happened to his ship around the time we were leaving port.
What I plan to do is this--
In a few weeks when Laird gets home-he is at DisneyWorld-- :o--we should be in port by then. I think either Hibernian or I should write a post where we go into a tavern and Laird is there.
We can ask, "What happened?" and Laird can post it as a story he is telling.
I will IM or email Lairde in advance and find out what day he would like to post it.
Does that sound do-able to everyone?

I too look to keep the merged crews together, but what to do about the KH.
Keep in mind even Kirk destroyed the Enterprise...and just like the Captain it doesn't mean we couldn't find another KH when the time is ripe.
I have a few choice words for Cade, myself. Then again, I may just let my Spanish-made pistols say it for me.
I think the merged crew works quite well, be a shame to "jump the shark" and mess up a good thing.

They have been trying to spam a couple of the blogs that I work for. Since they all use wordpress they just get deleted before they see the light of day, yet they still keep overloading the comments section with pure gibberish and links. ::)

Sorry to be slow, spent the last week helping the boyo finnished up his Eagle Project, handed into the Council this very morning, Huzzah! Then also spent the past week getting ready to take the scout troop sailing.
I'm wheels up for Miami this evening and set sail in the Keys on Tuesday. Oh yeah, a week with the boys asail in the Florida Keys!
I'll keep an eye out for Lobo just in case.

Martin is working on Stores
Lil/Elinor are out in town causing a good ol' fashion ruckus (Hafta find the dogs!)
Briggs is nursing a sore pride somewhere and Duckie is off doing 'ducky' things...
The Crew have been released for some shore leave, leaving the El Lobo with its usual
contigent of skeleton crew and watchmen.
Time back aboard for them will be tomorrow night (is that okay with everyone?)
That way we'll have a night in port before we are off sailing again into our next grand adventure.

The problem in voting for Rendezous was I want to go to each one of the fairs nominated! It was very hard trying to put them in some kind of order so I could actually vote only once.
Unless some of the Chicago preceints come in late, Scarby looks good for next year. Depending upon the weekend chosen I looking forward to seeing everyone there. After all, there are M'Cracks in Texas too!
Scarby was the logical choice for me as well. Besides, I just have to meet Martin and Lil! ;D

Scarby isn't as big as TRF, but, there is a magic here that is like no other.
The only drawback is there is no camping, but, seeing as they just installed 'Lake Sevier' you
wouldn't want to camp on the grounds anyway (The 'Lake' is a sump)
And, Hibernian, you are sooo correct, there are M'cracks everywhere!
and, something that I don't believe they have at any other faire.. Clan Mc'Bubba.
(trust me, if you saw them. You wouldn't forget them.)
Lil, Scarby has always been on our list on places to visit, getting a chance to visit with the DMT crew just makes it that more special.
As for the M'Cracks, just tell them a few of the relations from the East Coast are coming for a visit. They might want to double the Guinness supply.

I guess the story is on hiatus...perhaps our storytellers are waiting for the cold of winter? After all, DMT CAN bring out the shiny-ness of faire during the winter doldrums...
Elinor, Jack and I were talking last night about resuming DMT. We both agreed with faires and summer, everyone is on overload.
But when things slow down a bit--Jack has his faire and I am busy with work--by October we hope to revive it.
I read alot of DMT1 last night and it was just too funny to let go. I don't know where Lilaney has wandered off to but I think I have her regular email.
We think maybe we should look for El Dorado. I can always pick the kid up later!

I can say that I graduated College, I am working towards a career I love, and I found my Duckie.

Lil, our games are great! The local games in April are just down the way from our faire site north of Charlotte. Well attended, but still local with perhaps close to a 100 clans represented.
Tommorrow I head to Grandfather Mountain for the 56th (?) annual games. This is the largest gathering of the Scots outside of Scotland. Unless you have a pass, the average guest will park at the bottom of the mountain and take the shuttle up to McRae Meadow. It all starts Thursday night with the Call of the Clans, Friday has music going, then Saturday all bloody hell breaks loose. The clans, heavy athletics, vendors, clan meetings, a tent for speaking gaelic, pipe and drum juding and demos, dancing, three music stages (then a full fledge concert Sat night), sheep dog demos, wrestling, and perhaps a wee drink or two. Sunday we start all over after church services.
Well worth a visit.
It always puts a smile on my face to see a new post or two in DMT (and the Comments, too!) :)
