Ok, I'm in serious need of some guidance in terms of immersing myself and having the best time possible at next year's Ren Faire. I want garb, persona, everything but I also need to get over my nerves about not knowing anything about where to start (although I'll be reading these threads like a mad woman!). I live and work in Raleigh so this looks like a good place to start to find some folks to talk to! Are newbies invited to the get togethers? I wouldn't want to be bombarding folks with questions when you have other things to talk about. I think one of the things I have worried about is that fact that I have no one to go with me to the Faire (my husband is not interested and none of my friends either). I surely can't be an unattended lady wandering about on my own! Anyway, I look forward to learning more from this site and possibly meeting some lords and ladies in the Raleigh area.
You have come to the right place, we can and will help you.... just let us know
You should check out Camelot Treasures in Cary. My daughter Ruth who works there is involved with faire and can answer some of your questions.
Don't worry about being an unattached female there are many of us that walk around faire.
You should also check out Celtic Harvest at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary on Oct 25th. There is also Camelot Christmas at the State Fairgrounds Dec. 5-6
No turning back now......I just won this gorgeous gown on Ebay! I'm on my way over to the garb thread to figure out headwear, etc.

What time tomorrow at Tir Na Nog?
About 8:00 p.m..
Well met Lady Ann......hope to see you at our next event as well......and hope you had a great time......
QuoteWell met Lady Ann......hope to see you at our next event as well......and hope you had a great time......
I was so very pleased and honored to meet you and some of the other members of the M'Crack clan. The M'Cracks are a welcoming and kind (and fun!) group. I very much look forward to the next event!
Ok, I am calling for a gathering of the clan and all FoCM (Friends of Clan M'Crack) that live in the Triangle area.
Albanach is playing at the Tir Na Nog on Wednesday, October 8, advance tickets are $7 and tickets at the door are $10.....
Kilts, M'Crack T-Shirts and Pins Please.......and yes I would like any ladies that wish to join us in wench garb.....garb is requested...not mandatory
I'll be there.
I'd love to attend on the 8th. (See, I wasn't scared off last night at all!). I may need to see about borrowing some wench garb as I don't have any, but would be great to wear it if I can!
I will be there and Leaves'n if she is not working.
I wish, I wish, I wish I could go! :'(
Glad to hear you had a great time Lady Ann!
Very much looking forward to the Albanach show....will be there with my adventuring party from Chatham Cnty and looking forward to meeting the M'Cracks. Only wench garb for the ladies? Leave the leather armor at home? :D
I currently can get my hands on a block of tickets for Clan M'Crack and Friends of Clan M'Crack. Tickets will be $7 per person......
I have to purchase the block by Saturday to get the price and be sure we are in before they are sold out. (A friend in the management will ensure we get our order filled) There is the possibility that there may not be any tickets available at the door.
Please post or renmail me ASAP if you want to be included in the ticket block. I will pay for the tickets up front and you all can pay me when you get to the event.
i'll have to see if i can get coverage thanks for the heads up i thought they were playing saturday night :(
Can I be a friend of Clan M'Crack....would love to be included it the ticket block! There are 4 in our party.
I have Femme down for 4.....you can take care of them at the show.
many, many thanks! ;D ;D
I plan to attend as a friend of the M'Cracks so if I could get an advance ticket that would be great! I don't want to risk getting there and it being sold out.
Lady Ann, you have already been included ;D
currently there are 23 on the list......Just ask for the Clan M'Crack tickets when you get to the door
and do we pay at the door or reimburse you directly Sir?
Also, I've never supped at Tir Na Nog. Do folks recommend eating dinner there? (*thinking about directly going for the Scotch anyway.... ;))
Tickets will be at the door, but you will need to pay me once you find me inside.
the food is really good at tir na nog
menu just got updated as they have a new chef
the staff is fanstastic
somebody better hug jamesie for me!
(before he gets all hot and sweaty)
Ok, this is the list I have for the tickets I purchased for the Albanach show. I am told that the show starts at 7 and there are three bands total. Albannach is scheduled to go on stage at 10.
I have reserved a table for 12 in the non smoking section close to the stage and another half dozen seats on the other side of the brick wall that separates the bar area from the stage area, and are in the smoking area.
Julia and I plan to be down at Tir Na Nog about 5:30 or so.
Please tell them at the door you are with the "Clan M'Crack" and they will call me or Julia to bring your tickets to the door.
Hope to see many of you there, and I did hear that there are still a few tickets available at the door if you would like to come and join the group. Tickets at the door are only $10.
Remember, Kilts, M'Crack T-Shirts and Tams would be nice to see as well as a good group of the M'Crack Pins.

What a pleasure it was to be taken care of by Clan M'Crack last evening!
Albannach was amazing! I still can feel those pipes and drums reverberating through by body...and myne ears still ain't right.... ;)
Delicious dinner, mead tasting, fun company....Huzzah! As you said Lairde, I was ebullient!
It was a pleasure to have you with us, and hopefully we will have such an opportunity again soon.
The feeling is quite mutual Lady Peddlin....I do hope that you continue to post local opportunities for fun & fellowship! :D ;D
Actually, Femme -
If you are not doing anything Friday night, my son will be singing at The James Joyce Pub in Durham, and there may be several of us in attendance. We would love for you to join us.
And then on Saturday night, we will be back at Tir Na Nog, where Paddy Gibney will be performing. One of our very own M'Cracks is moving to Colorado, and we must see her off. I don't think you have met her, yet, but if possible, you should before she leaves us.
Peddlin
The James Joyce used to be my favorite place for refreshments after work....alas, I have no one to care for the wee ones this weekend (2 yr old twins... Owen & Connor..how's that for good Irish names? :D) and my Lord is traveling. I do thank you for the invitation and hope to visit with the M'Crack clan again before CRF invasion.
Do I remember correctly that you will not be attending the Celtic Harvest next weekend? :-[
I think there will probably be a few M'Cracks there, but Lairde Guard'n and I will not be in attendance. I wish you a wonderful time, though.

Now can we all harmonize on "I want a Hippopotomus for Christmas"
Demm, I am working a Thomas Kinkade Highlighting event that weekend!
Happy M'Crackmas everyone and time for the annual gathering. Tune up your vocal cords and try to remember the words to "I want a Hippopotomus for Cristmas". I am sure it will be sung a few times over the weekend.

On Friday afternoon we will start gathering at either Pinn'n and Chuck'n place at 1108 Carlisle Strret, Raleigh, NC 27610 or at Peddlin and Lairde Guard'n place at 102 Manhattan Ct, Cary, NC to consolodate vehicles. In other words....take as few vehicles with us when we leave for the Pub. This will also give those from out of town that are planning on staying at either of these places to get your stuff unloaded and to relax until time to depart for the pub. Also those that are staying at hotels to get to one of the points to either share rides or follow to the other places.

On Saturday, January 3rd at 7 pm, at the Tir Na Nog Pub those members and friends of the Family known as the Clan M'Crack that may be in the area, are invited to join together with Frank'n and Ferry'n M'Crack to wish them "Fair Winds and Following Seas" before they move on from North Carolina the great state of Washington.
For any pets in the area, this may be the last chance for you to collect those signatures for a while.
I just wanted to let you all know that my son, Tennessee Jed, will be moving to Asheville on the 1st of February. He will be appearing at our very own Hibernian Pub, in Cary, this coming Wednesday night (January 7th), and he will go on around 9:00 pm. This will be one of his last shows in the Raleigh area (before the move), and we would love for you to join us. A few are coming early (around 8:00ish) for food, so please be there, if you can, and bring all of your friends. A good time will be had by all.
I would love to hear your son perform Lady Peddlin and will certainly try to be there.... :)
Thank you very much, My Lady -
We shall look forward to your appearance.
::)
Lady Peddlin....I regret missing an opportunity to visit with you and your family. May your son's move to Asheville be smooth. What a great city to live in and visit... A warm bed and cozy fire broke my resolve to venture out... :-\
Well, they liked him so much, they are going to try to work in another show or two before he leaves, so maybe you can still join us.
Please post those dates! You must be very proud indeed! :)
We are all gathering Friday March 6 at the Tir Na Nog.......we are celebrating Nail'ns 25 birthday. So everyone come and have a great time.
Gathering in Cary NC on June 5th
The Hibernian Pub in Cary is celebrating its 7th Anniversary with a Block Party.......Live Music All Day Long from Noon til the wee hours.......Bands include Tino Gray, Chris Suiter, Currie Clayton, Magic Pipers, Brad Benson and Jason Adamo........They will also be giving away a free trip to Ireland but you must be present to get entered into the drawing, there is no cost to enter........Guinness is also on Special all day long.....
Was thinking that Julia and I may just have to make an appearance and even have a bite to eat while taking in the tunes...I will reserve a table for 8,,,LOL
Remember that this is one of pubs that goes out of its way to assist us in fundraising events like the Irish Music Fest and St Patricks Dinner Dance, and even supplying Jocky Boxes for picnics. They help because we are good customers and they have gotten to know us over the years........So lets get together this Saturday and support them on their Birthday.
If you can stop by even if is only to say hello or grab a quick drink, please do so.........for those others that want to spend a little time enjoying the tunes and the spirits.......do stop by and look for Julia or Myself.....I will make an appearance sometime about Noon to 1.......I will leave around 3 and return with Julia sometime around 5 to 6.....I hope to have a few others there to hold down our table during the lull.....
As always, if possible....Men in Kilts and all members in Clan M'Crack T-Shirts if you have one......(that also reminds me that the new order of T-Shirts is in and I currently have every size, let me know if you will want one on Saturday)
Please feel free to check the emails this went to and forward this email along to anyone that I might have missed......also feel free to bring your friends, children, mom, grandpa....the dog...you know, anyone that may be into having a good time and a lot of fun.........Hopefully I will see you all soon.....
Oh much fun! Hoist a pint (or three) for me as I'll be cheerfully sweating my mumbles off at VARF again.
