Title: Sad news
Post by: Wickedvox on August 28, 2011, 08:46:38 PM
The Zucchini Brothers are retiring after this season!!  :'(  I'm wondering what will happen to MiRF with so many great acts leaving (Ex. Tartanic). I'm hoping Tartanic will come back next year :-[ Oh! AND The Village Idiots weren't there either! I think I remember them saying they were going to Maryland. What is becoming of our Festival?!

I am not sure but there are to many acts that everybody who is not a rennie come to see and what is up with the program having acts on it that are no longer there?

Sure we will miss our favorite acts - however, Tartanic will be back at some point in time and we will have new and wonderful acts to discover.

Faire can never remain the same and will never remain the same.  There will be new shows, acts and vendors all the time.  It's just change, not the death sentance of MIRF or any faire.

Well said, Margaret.  I enjoyed the new this past Sunday and thought the festival was in top form. The music was rich and the air filled with energy (along with an occasional dust cloud as a wind gust would blow through).  I am truly amazed at the energy the performers have and how they put their all into it. (And I mean all the performers, from our lovely queen, her entourage, the jousting knights, the musicians, the comedians, etc., etc., etc.,) It is truly a pleasant place to spend the day with truly pleasant company.

Don't lynch me y'all! I just will miss the long-time acts. And personally I don't think all the entertainment is equally awesome--what can I say, I have my preferences. And yes, I hope Tartanic will be back. Of course I still had fun--though I WAS less entertained than usual--and I will continue to go. I just hope they can find some new spectacular acts. They need to look into booking the Musical Blades--they are FANTASTIC!

/hides rope behind back......

KIDDING!!!!   ;D

No!  No lynching intended at all.

There has just been a bunch of "OMG!111!111!!!!!  MY FAVORITE ACT IS NOT RETURNING TO FAIRE!!!!!!!111!!!! MANAGEMENT IS SOOOOOO UNFAIR AND TERRIBLE!!111!!!!!11!!!!  THEY ARE RUINING OUR FAIRE!!!11!!!!!!!!!11!11!" type posts.

Sure people have their preferences and favorite acts and we are bummed when they don't show.  There are just some people who do not see faire as a business and automatically assume that "they" ('they' usually being faire mgt.) are out to ruin 'their' faire.  (No, Wickedvox - I am not meaning you in this   :-* )

lol! I hear ya. No, I realize Tartanic had an opportunity and had to take it. I'm all for capitalism! And people have a right to retire. It's not "management" I'm sure. What can I say? I'm a taurus, I hate change lol!

I thought the music was really good. Some good up and coming bands over the last 3 years Stoneclover and  the Bawdy Boys to name 2 . Every year they have improved and are fun to watch and hear. It was good to have Ernesto and the band back (don't ask me to spell or pronounce it)

Not asking for lynching here either but.....I have friends that no longer attend MRF because of the same old shows.....some shows just do not change one bit.  Now I have encouraged them to come back and enjoy the new shows we have, but I can't sit through a show that hasn't changed in years.

To be honest, I wondered how much longer they were going to keep doing it, they've been at it forever! I do enjoy their show, but I definitely understand how it'd get a bit much after a while. That said, it seems like there's alot more small musical groups scattered around the faire grounds when I was there for opening day, I really liked that. Still, those two will be leaving a very large hole to fill. I really hope they find somebody good to take over on that stage!

Sad to hear, but just remember the good times. It's really be nice if they made a DVD that we could purchase so we have something to remmeber them by. I'll make it a point to stop by and see them again this year. As I have in the past, but now it won't be the same.

They did! And they're selling them for $20!
