Allright fellow KCRF'esters, it is time to begin dreaming of another autumn in Canterbury! Wondering what the Maestro and company will have in store for us this fall. I have been checking their webpage to see when they will release the schedule, although we all pretty much know exactly when it will be, and to see what the scenario will be in 2010.
What's everyone want to see this season? Go away, come back, etc, etc. Me personally I am hoping to see Tartanic back, but they have been gone for several seasons, but I would love em' back. OOh, and I would really like it if the joust continues to improve. I have been in contact with people who run the joust, hoping and hoping they continue to try and bring some more of a story line to the actual joust. And for my last wish in 2010, the return of the Limey Birds!!
Anyone else??
Limey Birds and Tullamore. I miss them both dearly. Also there was once a jolly little band of bards called Tartan (not Tartanic, though they're awesome too) who I have been hoping would return for a long time.
Just looking forward to going again. I spent a lot of time in my visit last year going to the Feaste of Fooles, which was OK, but cut into my other show times.
I'd like to see a rendition of Henry the V this year. I didn't much care for the Shakespeare vs his Nemesis (whatever his/her name) that was the ongoing show last year.
This year I should try to visit more than one day, eh?
I've been counting down to '10 KCRF since '09 KCRF ended. :-)
I'd also love to see the return of the Limeybirds...missed them last year for sure!

Their show never changes really, ( Limeybirds ) but if they have a good sized audience, they are fun as hell!! Same with Mental Pause. I am eagerly awaiting to see what is new with the chess match in 2010, that is always my favorite. That, and the pub sing. I plan my whoe day around those two events!
It was perfect faire weather this week! ...well, up until today. I hope it will be this nice when Canterbury opens this year!
Can't wait been ready since the day I left last year to go back again this year.
If Tullamore isn't back, I again won't have the motivation to drive from Oklahoma. The activities & attractions there are nice but I can't imagine going w/o hearing Mary, Rachel & Mark.

i have never actually heard tullamore, couldnt tell you if they are good or not. i can tell you there is plenty for me to do out there, i see acts i love come and go each season, like the other faires i frequent. but hearing you say that you wont go if they arent there makes me wanna check em out!
They are the best! One can find them on YouTube by searching for "Tullamore Kansas City". Their website is www.tulamore.info/
Hey all....
Sorry for the bad news. Found out today that due to budget constraints; The Limeybirds will not be appearing at KCRF this year.
I did speak with Maestro; he said if there was any chance he'd let me know asap.
Sorry to disappoint; none were sadder than we were!
We're still working on our fall schedule; check our website tour page for details. And also, feel free to contact KC management to let them know you'll miss us!
Keep in touch tho folks; via our website, facebook, carrier pigeon... www.limeybirds.com
always so sad to see acts i enjoy leave. again, a good catalyst for me to see something new i suppose. hope there is any new shows this year. i will always get a swill pond show in, jolly rogers, chess, pub sing, but need other things to fill the time. hope they are doing something in the stead of limey birds. best of luck to you guys. this is a common theme on all renfest boards these days.

What do you mean? until last season, they always hosted the pub sing. of course you've seen them!

ahhh, so just never went to see their show then. last year ( and previous years too ) seems to me more musical blades are hosting than anything, with chuey so prevelant.
yeah, from what i understand, chuey had been let go from faire activity a while, and he suddenly reappeared at the pub sing a couple years ago causing quite an uproar... the blades are great and all but i do miss tullamore
Hey, I just got back from the St Louis Ren Faire this weekend. They've got a leg up on us with thier friends of the faire package! Les Amis de Lyon, or something like that. Did KCRF ever do this? A special area with drinks, changing area, storage area, and special "members only" privvies? If not, they should seriously look into it! What a fantastic deal it was!
They used to have something kind of similar; season passholders could gather in the gazebo near the jousting lists, and every season they threw a members-only breakfast for the season passholders, with great food, entertainment, and door prizes. But the last year we went to the breakfast, the organizers actually polled us, and asked if we wanted the breakfast/perks or a better price on tickets, and we all voted for cheaper passes.
One thing we haven't ever done, but I want to someday, is to attend the pre-season fundraiser they do every year at the Old Stone Church in KC. It sounds kind of like a madrigal dinner, and it would be really fun to mingle with the cast indoors for once, with air conditioning!
Looks like The Ladies of the Salty Kiss will be returning to the stages and lanes of Canterbury opening weekend ONLY - September 4-6. More details later as they become available from the Maestro.

i'm obviously past due for some faire activity; i've already been having the dreams. yes, i have weird recurring dreams of being in garb at some strange hybrid renfest/wild west faire thing....

Oh, I have faire dreams too! (Including one where Muslim women in full hijab were buying garb.) ONLY THREE MORE MONTHS TO GO!!! :-)
This will be my 3rd time here and I can't wait! I was wondering, if anyone's been, how was the Feast of Fooles? Can you tell me what its like and what goes on during it?
Also, I'd really love to see a relaxed weapons policy. This is one of only a handful of faires in the country that don't allow even peace tied weapons. It's really frustrating when you've got the perfect sword to complete your outfit but you can't wear one, you know?
But anyways, I'm pretty much counting down the days.
I went to the Feaste of Fooles this last season, and I probably wouldn't do it again. It was OK, but it interfered with all of the other shows I wanted to see.
The chow was good, and the show was alright. They give out a nice ceramic mug. I'm glad I went, but I probably won't be back to that event in the KCRF.
So, bottom line in my opinion is: It's worth doing once.
I think I'll give it a try then, thanks a lot :)
I will walk the lanes at least one weekend this Fall.
DQ, Good to see you back again! We missed you last year! Hopefully our one weekend to KCRF coincides with yours!
amen, good to see DQ again!!
now lets get finvarra back, he bailed on us.
4 Weeks until KCRF starts!!!! Woot!!!!! (and about 8 ish until we make it there!!!) :)

it's a shame to see you so little. I recall you being present every day in the past. Hopefully we will get to meet again. And everyone else who has already expressed intent to go; kcdcchef, amyj, delireus, we should all meet! the faire is by far best in groups.
Most definitely. I can only go for one weekend though, the 25th which is the 4th weekend called the Romani Adventure. It's 2 hours away for me sadly.
On another note, has anyone been to the Great Plains faire in Wichita? I was thinking of checking it out.
http://www.greatplainsrenfest.com/
^yeah we'll definately meet up then. remind me if i dont remember to contact you by that time.
no, haven't been to the great plains fest yet, it always conflicts with KCRF so i'm never able to.
darn the luck, my only weekend this year will be closing weekend.

Sounds like a plan.
I'm very temped to go to Great Plains, it's only for 1 weekend, though it's 2 hours away (I'm in Manhattan) and it looks rather small. But might be fun :)
If anyone wants to see Tullamore soon, they'll be performing at the Oklahoma Scottish Games in Tulsa on September 18th & 19th. www.okscottishgames.org
Tullamore's also performing tonight and tomorrow night at O'Malley's Pub in Weston, MO (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/event.php?eid=144198552274811&ref=mf). Unfortunately I can't make either, 'cause tomorrow I'm seeing the Musical Blades at Waxy O'Shea's in Shawnee, KS. Come get in your last Irish and/or pirate fixes before KCRF!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Musical-Blades/113437616190?v=app_2344061033#!/event.php?eid=118139504900048&index=1

same. It's 3 hours away for me here in KC. that, and as i said, it conflicts with KCRF so it's an automatic no-go.
anyway, when i order my new boots for faire this year, i'll get some pictures of me in my current garb so you know who to look for come faire season! of course we can just discuss with anyone else who plans on being there that weekend (she said the 25th of septemeber, so speak up if you'll also be there) and we can arrange a rendez-vous setting.
oh yay! I've been going to faire for years but since this is my first season while I've been here on the boards I've never met up with anyone except friends of mine I brought with me :P Exciting!
Yes, we shall all be in touch :)

Just the 25th of September. And no, as of yet I do not have an RF pin, though I very much want one. I've made a little polymer clay one I'm not too proud of but it might have to do if I can't get an official one by then.
ALMOST TEN DAYS, EVERYONE! GET EXCITED!!! ;D ;D ;D
Cannot WAIT to be back in Canterbury...especially since I'll be there at least every Saturday and Sunday this year!! <3
Ah, I wish I could make it every weekend. But yay for faire almost being here!
Counting down to Friday. Heading up for opening weekend. Starting off at the Irish Fest and then on to faire on Sunday. Should be well wore by Sunday evening.
Is there an entertainment schedule posted for opening weekend? I would like to draw up battle plans on the drive up. Lots of good acts and not enough day. If you see someone in a green kilt sprinting across the grounds with a herd of chilren in tow that will likely be me on my way to the next show to get in as much as possible for the day.
I'll have my R/F pin on my vest or kilt. Feel free to say hello if you see me wandering aimlessly with the herd.
There is a schedule posted on the Kansas City Renaissance's webiste. The website is found at http://www.kcrenfest.com/index.html
Does anyone know the difference btwn the season pass ($74.95), the Royal Pass ($139.95), and the Royal Collection ($204.95)?
The Lady and I will be arriving Saturday evening from Colorado and attending on Sunday of opening weekend.
What, pray tell, is a "groovy R/F" pin and where can some regulars from CORF get one?
Squire & Lady Elizabeth
The pins are for the forum, I gather, to let other people from here know you are also on the boards. I think you need to order them well in advance before faire, to make sure you get one. I don't have one either, but I've made one out of polymer clay that looks similar, though crappy :/ I can only assume a 'groovy' one is ty-dyed :D
Hah, but no, here's a link - http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=210.0 (http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=210.0). I'm sure it's fine that you don't have one, just possibly look for others with one or plan to meet up at a certain place/time :) Glad you guys made the trip, have a great weekend!
Season pass gets you a medallion, a food book, and one extra one day ticket for $75.
The Royal Pass gets you a nicer medallion, a food book, a t-shirt, a stein and five extra one day tickets for 140.
The Royal Collection gets you the Royal Pass PLUS a ticket to the Pirate Feast and the Halloween Feast for 205.
We got one season pass and one Royal Pass.
It must be getting closer to faire time...Last night I had a dream that Cliff/Devon of the Joly Rogers "Butt Dialed" me while he was on stage (and apparently brodcasting on TV too, since I could hear him on the phone and TV at the same time). In my dream I thought this was strange because he doesn't have my phone number and.....where on EARTH would he put the phone in his tights!?!?!?!??! ??? Admitedly, once awake I realized this was strange for so many more reasons...he he he!!!
2 weeks, 3 days until we set sail for Port Canterbury (heh, pirate weekend eh...)!!!!! Can't WAIT!!!!!
I'm a bit of a leatherworker.
Would it be inappropriate to create a similar R/F pin out of leather? We are faire-ly new to these boards, but getting more plugged in all the time.

Well, he does have that one little pouch...;-D Though as he says in Get Shrewed, it's already full... ;D I've had faire dreams involving Jolly Rogers a few times. Including one where we were in a grocery store, in garb, buying food to camp out. Cannot wait to see him and the JRs for real Saturday!!!
i used to be co-workers with mayhem, on two seperate occasions. yes, in this little life outside faire, in a normal office, hazard to believe it or not. Either way sounds like you were just wishfully dreaming XDD
LOL...maybe! Although I don't think I called back in the dream!!! Hmmmm, if the phone was on vibrate.... :o
TWO MORE DAYS!!
Two more weeks and two days!!!!!! :D :D :D Hope this year brings perfect or near perfect weather for every weekend of the faire!!!!

I still have 7 weeks to go til I get to stroll through Canterbury! But for the rest of you, the opening cannon fires tomorrow morning. How I wish I could be there, it is so sad I have to look forward to the END of the faire for my weekend. Darnit.
Have fun everyone this weekend, fun to see the KCRF message boards with some activity finally.
Oops, change of plans! I'll be there on October 9th instead of September 25th. Even though I've got to wait a bit, I'm still excited ;D
