Title: Matchmaking for Queen Bonnie
Post by: Tremayne on July 01, 2008, 03:05:49 PM
The search is on!

Our illustrious and magical Queen of Everything is in need of a partner. Wizards being rather hard to come by, the more people keeping their eyes open for potential candidates the better. Feel free to make suggestions or post pictures of possible matches here for our good queen to consider.

Queen Bonnie's Basic Criteria are:
Single
Rennie
Non smoking
Cat loving
Over 58
Good sense of humor
Good health (how else would he keep up with the Queen of Everything!)
Comfortable, reliable wizardmobile

Icing on the man-cake:
Handsome
Long hair and beard
Financially set

So let's all go forward in playful rennie spirit and help her find her match.  Offer up men that will help her see possibilities and refine her criteria even if they don't quite hit the mark.

Huzzah! What a grand idea! I hope it works! My wizard summoning spells are a bit rusty.
I would love to find someone to enjoy faire- and more with!

The most obvious successor to Lord A strikes me as the sterling gentleman below.

And then there's Dumbledore. But both have passed on to other spheres as well. And I could be wrong on a fundamental point. They both seemed to be loners.

Of course, there's Merlin, who we know was susceptible (sp?) to love--though jaded by a bad experience. But he hasn't been seen in a coon's age either. So the challenge here is to find a wizardly type still in the earthly realm and who has an interest in the magic of union/love/romance.

There was that dashin ol' Scot that the Queen and I sat marching parade at Scarby mid-season...in an orange/yellow kilt, we both commented on his...good looks. LOL

Hmmm...must see if I can hunt him down!  :D

OOH! Gandalf is a YES! Dumbledore too- the Richard Harris one of course! Earthly realm is best though.
Alas! I found that Scot in the Yellow kilt was already seeing someone. Just my luck!  He was cute!

Shards and Shells... and uncaught snails... I had a very good friend who fit the order to a tee. Alas and woe he was just recently captured by another red-head who stole him away from the Ren faire world just because she feared .....shhhh.... dare I whisper it......Queen Bonnie!

Well that just sucks.
Onward to finding the next capable wizard-bachelor...perhaps the one just perfect for our wonderous Queen!

Hmm? I have met a few wizards along the path...finding one that will admit to being a bachelor is no small deed though.

I met this one at the TNRF a long time ago, but I believe he is too young for our purposes...

In spite of the grey beard this one is likely a fraud and too young as well

This is one I met not too long ago at the ALRF, as to whether or not he is single I am unsure, but I think that he is likely close to our age range

I tend to be leery of false beard wizards! LOL!

We'll keep our eye out for him this year and do some reconnaissance for you.  ;)  ALRF is, I believe, the third weekend in Oct. Seems we once saw him at TNRF as well so those up that way keep an eye out for him next year if we haven't found a suitable consort for our queen by then.

Mayhap you could post his photo in the ALRF and TNRF threads - and even the Faire Photos - and see if anyone can offer his name and marital status?
Title: Re: Matchmaking for Queen Bonnie
Post by: Tremayne on July 02, 2008, 10:34:49 AM
It's worth a try, Anne--though the ALRF thread doesn't get much action and I think he was only an occasional visitor to TNRF. Usually the ALRF folks perk up as their faire nears so maybe we'll get an answer earlier rather than later.  And more eyes watching and less of a chance of missing him.

Marital status and smoking status and might help to tempt said wizard- if single- with my photo?  I will give out my e-mail to all interested wizards!

I believe another one of Queen Bonnie's criteria would be that the potential wizard must have a reliable (and comfortable) means of transportation.  Whether it be a motor vehicle or flying carpet...

(Bonnie - got my old user name back!)

Huzzah Nagling! So good to see you back here!  Hugs to you and Shirleen!
Transportation is a good thing!
I am not fond of Portkeys!  He should have a wizardmobile!

Well, Molden, I am hearing my Evil Twin Sister is also looking for another First Mate, too. Funny how that happened. Grog and Lord A going at the same time. I know where Grog is though. Drinking Davey Jones Dry! LOL! Poor Davey Jones. Grog never said much- but he could sure drink! Pirates! Gotta love them!
Lol!  I had to hide the Scotch- and even the French perfume- when My Sis was in port! Grog drank everything!

Bonnie, there had been a photograph of a harpist in photos of the day by able archer that seemed to fit your description--but now it's gone.  :-\  I guess that means he was not the right one.

One of the toughest parts of finding a wizard is that they are utterly incognito in daily life. They don't seem to congregate much outside of faires. Try www.oberonzell.com. I believe this wizard already has a consort. However, he conducts a school of wizardry (truly, he does--or did--the link seems dead) and thus is connected to others of a wizardly bent. He'll also come out to speak if you can get enough people interested to afford bringing him to you. Advertising such a visit could be a way of drawing your local wizards out of hiding. If nothing else, you could contact him (and yes, attach a picture) and let him know of your dilemma. He may know of ways to connect with other wizards.

Wizards are a solitary lot- Alas!   I can spot them even disguised as Muggles.
I doubt I can afford to bring one here. I will try my luck at TRF again this year. Who knows who might appear.  Perhaps I should seek a renn man and teach him the way of the wizards?
Title: Re: Matchmaking for Queen Bonnie
Post by: Tremayne on July 20, 2008, 10:18:57 PM
Certainly if a non-wizard ren-gentleman is intrigued by you, there's hope that he has an inner wizard that he simply hasn't given full rein to. Of course, I like to think you magical sorts can develop strong and indulgent feelings even for those of us who do not have a strong magical bent. Despite a couple of years fraternizing with a wizard, I still don't feel that's my path. Not that I'm completely lacking in magical ability but it seems to be more of the hedge-witch or gypsy-mystic variety. We do not appear to go together at faire, but in our hearts we do.  ;) And that's what counts.
Title: Re: Matchmaking for Queen Bonnie

Indeed, magic as with other forms of reality is relative and what you make it of it.As with most kinds of people, there are wizards of all sorts.Magic is by no means all flash and bang,it can be as simple and quiet as effective communication with a friend, whether they are of the two footed or four footed variety, furry or feathery or even not.

Finding someone who shares or appreciates your goals and values is no easy thing to do in this life, but it can be done and I have faith in the fact that you will find that sort of understanding again with someone in time.

As to the wisdom of training a ren-man up as a wizard I can not pretend to be able to give sure advice.I know my path to it has been life long even before I was aware that it was where I was headed. Some are born to it other I am sure can be lead to it,as I have alluded, there are wizards for every season. What is most important in this search is that you are open to the possibility of finding one, when he turns up.

Queen Bonnie, there's a "must see" wizard tagged "the white wizard" among Aragorn II's photos of the 4th week of Bristol in the photo thread. Perhaps you need to send Aragorn on a noble mission to discover if he is attached or not.  ;)

Bonnie, you kill me talking about "hooking up".  ;D

Have you considered something like "match.com" ? Type in Ren faires as a preference. You never know who you might meet. I've never done the dating site thing but it's tempting sometimes. You could chat online I guess until you get a feel for the guy and then arrage a meetup at faire.

I have tried several of those dating sites. No rennies so far. I am a bit too strange for most on there and getting sick of being messaged by 20 year olds! I have met a few OK guys- but no magick. No sparks.Just OK does not work for me.
I hate online chatting.
Meeting someone at faire or on this site is my only hope.

Queen Bonnie, this weekend, there was a guest artist at Bristol, Bloggio the Minstrel.  He doesn't look like a wizard, but he is an excellent guitar player.  Steve and I really enjoyed his playing at the Pig & Whistle Tavern.  Perhaps he is a wizard in disguise?

News!  News!  News!  Hopefully GOOD news!

We went to Bristol on Sunday & Monday of Labor Day weekend. Bloggio was there again as a guest minstrel.  And he is a darn good minstrel! Well, I asked him if he is married, and he said he is a single man.  When he asked why (since he could obviously see Steve sitting next to me), I told him, without naming any names or giving out any information, that we have a Queen of Everything who is looking for a magical man.

So --  I found a single man who obviously loves Ren faires and is in the right age frame.  Is there anybody else on this forum that knows this gentleman & could perform some wizardry to make some sparks fly??????? ;D

Not much luck at TRF- yet. Most of the older attractive wizards are not single! Alas! I have not given up though. Glad the next generation will have more magick!

Queen Bonnie, I just looked at some of yesterday's pictures from TX RF.  There seem to be several gentlemen "of a certain age" in the pictures.  Perhaps an available wizard?

Here's hoping that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving.

We might have found a wizard. We will see if one appears over Yule!
Miracles could happen! My crystal ball is hopeful.

I am still in the market for a wizard- or Scot, pirate or Rogue!
Sigh. My love life is not working out too well lately. The wizards I meet have been unkind.

Thanks! It has me down- but not for long- I hope.  Mercury is in retrograde. It is messing up my life! Sigh!

We need to be really kind to ourselves during the retrograde.
I am giving up men. Cats are better. Nursing a broken- or bruised heart.  Being kind to myself for about a month. At least. Today I watched the Kentucky Derby and made myself a mint julep in a sterling silver cup from my grandparents. My Dad was from KY. It is a tradition! I loved the long shot win!
