Hail everyone,
I am very proud to announce that the new issue of Renaissance Magazine just came out featuring the Des Moines Renaissance Faire and our very own King Edward of "Have Court Will Travel", on the cover. It also sports a beautiful full two page court portrait of us at the beginning, with other separate pictures of us and other great performers throughout. Huzzah!!! Our "Have Court Will Travel", is based out of Iowa and can be seen performing throughout different faires. Congrats to everyone who made the issue.

Huzzah lad. Can't wait to get my copy now.
I've been teasing folks on Facebook about being in the Great Ren Rag ;D
Hope I get my picture in it this year!
I have to work opening day, but we plan to be up there ASAP from Omaha. Probably be there Sunday and Monday, so we have a chance to outfit the girls again this year.
I will need a hat form Felicity.
It will be nice to see you. Stop me and say hi. Will be with the court.
I most certainly will, Milord.
If young Sir Dhi Dhu will behave we will present him to the queen once more, though he is a bit larger than the little black fluff ball the ladies so adored last year at court.
While he is very friendly to all people and well socialized around other dogs and animals, it seems he has developed an unholy antipathy for horses, and if he cannot contain himself he will stay home.
~YIS
Rowen MacD
Well, he must come out. Her majesty would be most happy to see him as would I Just to see how much he has grown if for anything else. But I guarantee, the ladies will still find him the main attraction.
And, to him, a horse is just another large dog. Besides, he is scottish so it is to be expected when in an English realm, animals or human.
With faire only 23 days away (can you believe it?) I was wondering, who will be there and when (as long as there is no more flooding there)?
I will be there performing for sure. Unless the rain doesnt stop and I have no way of getting through. I do hope and pray the rain they are getting does finally end. Lots of people are really hurting from it. I know first hand from all our flooding we had in the milwaukee area as well some weeks back.
I might be there second weekend. We have other plans (including the circus) for Labor Day weekend, and the Quad Cities Celtic Festival and Highland Games is the third weekend.

Hi Celtic lady,
I have written Greg from the faire to see if he can tell me the prices for this season etc. I mentioned the site isnt updated yet and that people have been asking. I will post as soon as I hear anything.
Lord Clisto
Ok everyone, as promised, I wrote to Greg the owner of the faire and got this info so I am posting it -
The reg. price is $16, but there's a military half-price special AND people can stop at Casey's General Stores (gas stations) and get the $2-off flier; there's also advanced discount tix at metro Hy-Vees. Two-day pass = $25 and 7-day pass = $35
The site is being worked on
Lord Clisto
Thank you Milord!
Right now it looks as if I will not have to work Labor day weekend (Woot). We can make opening gate!
OMG, I can't wait...
~Rowen MacD
Half off for military and I'm stuck 1200 miles away in El Paso, TX. It is official, I am bummed :(
Sorry... I thought he was going to say free to military which is what most faires are doing, with proper id that is.
Now that is damn nice of em. Huzzah!
Can't wait! Trying to put the finishing touches on my outfits.
:D Getting excited.... can't wait for opening weekend.
Only 14 DAYS!!!!

LOL, those of us with SEWING still to do are trying very hard not to look at the countdown!
Is anyone up for a meet and greet or something?
David and I will be there, we are still trying to decide if we will bring Sir Dhi Dhu (a black Scottish Terrier). If you head over to the royal court area, (just west of the wassail shelter, and directly across from the list field) most of the regulars will be there or nearby. Here's a good photo gallery of the court, and more or less all of them will be there:

Still praying for good weather! NWS says 70's and fair!
Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Praying for cool temps, nice breezes, white fluffy clouds, and NO RAIN!!!!!
Friday I'm picking up my new bodices. Found some very pretty material and bought more than needed so I traded what was left of it for the sewing of them. So looking forward to wearing one of them opening day ;D.
National weather service predicts a GORGEOUS weekend.
Saturday-sunny and 74, Sunday-sunny and 80, Labor day-sunny and 86.....
Two. More. Days :D
Already have our room booked in Ankeny.....
The weather should be the greatest. Hope the crowds are. I am in town now and faire opens in -
10 hours, 15 minutes
Alas, we can't make the faire this year, but I heard that Brian Leo, "Tinker," will be appearing next weekend with 2 other women in a singing group.
If you can possibly get to the faire, everyone, don't miss this! He is a Bristol regular and a wonderful performer.
Wonderful seeing everyone again! Amazing the only rain we had held off till just after closing gate show on Sunday ;D
We'll be out on Sunday next, with the young Sir Dhi. (My grandson's birthday party is Saturday).
New acts this year-The Three Musketeers-marvelous, my nephew loved 'sword fighting' Artemis!
The Hapsburg Princess Pahmeallia-My sides hurt from laughing. She is just precious!
The Princess is as bratty as ever and even louder (loved it!)
It was great seeing you and many others back for another three weeks of fun. Yes... Princess Margaret is brattier then ever and LOUD doesn't come close to describing her demeanor. I try my best to keep her in check, but it seems that only jewels silence her for a while. I will be loading up on them from my Keep for this coming weekend. I am working on my pictures from the first weekend of which I could take while performing. There are many, so, it will be a little while. But, rest assured, I will announce when they are up. In the meanwhile, if anyone has Facebook, I have posted some on there.
Also, the weather was wonderful all three days. So was the wine...

M'Lady and I, along with two young lads will be attending this weekend. Is there any meeting place/time for forum people planned?

I do not think there is a formal meeting place. Normally, I would recommend the Royal Court area, but there does not seem to be a set gathering place for anyone this year.
Milord is most welcome to bring the lads to see the Forking Queen to be knighted. She will be able to tell you where to find most of us who are there. Sir Clisto and I are both on Facebook, as are quite a few more. Many of us can be found there via the Des Moines Renaissance fair page. If it pleases, friend me, and include your forum name so that I might know you.

Sir Morgan and I will be there Sunday around noon... after he gets off work. We'd love to meet up with fellow R/F'ers. I think it would be fun. We could meet up at the pub there. 1:00 would work for us. Anyone else interested?
I made the wine area on a few occasions. I ate lunch on Monday there and washed it down with a bottle of wine at my little table. Anyway, hope to see everyone there again for more fun.
By the way - Hi everyone,
I just finished putting up my pictures from the Des Moines Renaissance Faire this past opening weekend 9/4,5,6/2010. The faire is located in Sleepy Hollow Park in Des Moines, Iowa. The faire runs for three weekends including Labor Day. Weather was fantastic. To see the pictures, just go to the link on my site below and click on the Des Moines Faire link. Hope you all like them.

Well, i will be getting off work here in 2 hours (Midnight) and then heading back to Des Moines. I hate the rain so i am taking my time. Hope to see everyone there mud or not.
Lord Clisto
How did the closing day go?
David and I could not make it back to faire on Sunday, though we had planned on it. We were manning the Clan tent for the 12th annual Highland Heavy Athletic games and Celtic festival in Davenport on Saturday, 8am-6pm. Long day, rainy and cold. David is now coming down with a cold, so we decided not to push it.
We will be at the Midlands Pirate fest next weekend here in our hometown. Hope to see some of you there! Hope we have good crowds and good weather, since last year was canceled due to SNOW!
Had to edit this.....I saw the photos on Facebook for the 2010 mudfest. Goodness, those dresses will never come clean. Happy Birthday your Majesty!
Rowen, which clan tent were you manning? I was at the Festival with the Kingdom of Andorra living history group. Wish I'd known you were going to be there, as we didn't get to make DMRF this year.

Clan Davidson.
Basically closing day was muddy, damp and cool. Or, should I say closing weekend. Was in the 50's Sat and heavier rain. I will have pics up soon and you will see how muddy it got. Even though Sat was worse weather wise, people came out and spent money. Sunday, not as many.We all still had fun. Here is a pic of the joust field. The grounds were slightly better.

I couldn't make it last year but am trying everything in my power to make it this year. God willing will see you all this year. After going for at least 15 years it was really hard to miss a year.

I bet it is. Know the feeling well. Hope you can make it for sure, good Sir.

Well, just a few weeks left before the Des Moines Renaissance Faire is open again. It will be Labor Day weekend including Labor Day. I will be there with the court performing. Can't wait to see all my friends there once again. Getting Bristol done for the moment. So, who else is planning on going or returning or will be first timers?
Lord Clisto, Duke of York
I will be returning but with a slightly smaller crew this year. We have a newborn in the crew and she can't be there full time this year so her and her parents are going to just visit this year.
We'll be there Sunday and Monday and the following Sunday as well. A couple of friends of ours were supposed to be joining but at present it does not look like it will happen.
Our plans to open a small visiting shop there did not work out well and needed to be post poned until next year :(.
This has not been a good year for plans.
I was out at the site last night and there is a lot to do before next weekend, but they are working on it.A lot of booths need to be cleaned up and made ready. But they are working on the grounds and should have it cleaned up by the weekend. Trees and plantings are looking really good, just an update.
Looks like we will be there Saturday afternoon after I get off work. Huzzah!
Already packing and putting things in the outer hallway to load up for this weekend coming. Then its the next two weekends as well.
Looks like we will be there Labor day, we will head for DM on Sunday afternoon since it's just a 2 hour drive from Omaha (or if I drive, about 1.5 hours ;D)..... Only chance of rain is 30% on Saturday. Sunday looks gorgeous. Labor Day forecast is 72 and SUNNY!
See you there!
