2009 faire dates

From Gregor's Crossing: Chatham (March MAY 28-31, not March. Need caffeine...), Simcoe (New! June 5-7) and Morrisburg (June 12-14)

Faery Fest: Guelph (June 20 and 21)

Faires in Time: Pirate Fest (August 1-3), a Renaissance Festival (September 25-27, still in early planning stages)

Those are the ones I currently know about/am going to be at. Six weekends of faire is not too shabby!

Gregor's Crossing is in March this year?

Also, anyone know anything about the one that was supposed to open this year in Missassauga?  I lost the web address.

The http://www.canfairent.com website seems to have gone the way of the dodo, unfortunately. Interestingly enough, the Gregor's Crossing website is down too, but I bet those dates are supposed to be in May ;).

There is also:
Robin in the Hood in Elmira June 5, 6: http://www.robininthehood.com/
Casa Loma Renaissance Festival in Toronto July 4 - 6 http://www.casaloma.org/Seasonal/
Royal Medieval Faire Waterloo in September: http://www.royalmedievalfaire.org/
...and possibly the Muskoka Medieval Faire in Bracebridge, but that isn't confirmed: http://www.muskokamedievalfaire.ca/

Chris, do you have any info regarding Simcoe?

cheers,
Adam

... I have no idea why I wrote March. Wishful thinking, I guess. I did, in fact, mean May. Hey, at least I got the first two letters right!

All I know about Simcoe is that it's being run by Chelle and Duncan, same as Chatham and Morrisburg. The Friday is an educational day for the childrens, then Saturday and Sunday are the general admission days. I don't know the exact location and so forth yet.

Are Simcoe and Morrisburg Arthurian like Gregor's Crossing?
Title: Re: Ontario Faires and Festivals ... Building a List
Post by: GirlChris on February 19, 2009, 07:55:04 PM
This year, Gregor's Crossing, Simcoe, and Morrisburg are all set in 1169 England, during the reign of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine (peasants in kirtles and tunics, nobles in bliauts and... more tunics)

The storyline is the same at all three faires. And there is an actual storyline throughout the day, with fight scenes and betrayal and other such wholesome things. Oh, and some romance. You know. If you like that kind of thing.

Hmm... the Gregor's Crossing site IS down... maybe they started on the changes for this season? I have no idea.

Alacrity: Are you maybe looking at the March break program? That one read $31 for children, $17 for adults

This is whatt was on the site for the ren faire:

Step back in time and experience the excitement and adventure of the Renaissance at Casa Loma. Casa Loma's estate gardens will be transformed into a Renaissance-style village populated by vendors, village characters and the court of King Henry VIII.
Information pertaining to performers and acts will be updated regularly.
Casa Loma's Renaissance Festival is included with castle admission. For more information on the festival or vending opportunities, please email operations@casaloma.org.

And while I'm at it, the ticket prices

Adults (18 - 59)    $17.00
Persons with disabilities-
Full admission, attendant free
Seniors (60 +)      $11.00
Youth (14 - 17)     $11.00

The Gregor's Crossing website is back up, but I think it still has last year's storyline?  Cause it says it's set in 530, and GirlChris you said it's 1169 this time.  Can someone confirm which it is?  I need to get started on my garb for it!
Title: Re: Ontario Faires and Festivals ... Building a List
Post by: GirlChris on March 05, 2009, 03:30:44 PM
Yup, that's last year's story and entertainment info. That storyline was written to match with Chelle and Duncan's real life wedding, which was lovely. The dates are right for 2009, though.

Arianwyn: No no no! It IS the last weekend in May, as it says on the Gregor's website! Argh, I think I'm just getting everyone confused.  :'(

The user gregorscrossing is Chelle, who is the owner of the faire. Go with what she says!

Based on the reams of documentation I've been given to put up on the website it looks like the year is going to be ... 1526.

The Storyline for Gregor's Crossing will be changing (webmaster is slow getting information on).
Now that Duncan and I are back from vacation we are ready to go.  Yes we are hopefully coordinating three faires (we are waiting to hear from Waterford Not Simcoe)  Morrisburg has been confirmed and they are going with 4 days altogether.
Many changes are taking place for Gregor's Crossing this year as after 5 years we needed a change of entertainment and new additions that  you will enjoy.
Duncan and I along with a Board of Directors have started a new group called "Gregor's Crossing Medieval Education"  which is a travelling education show available to travel anywhere in Canada.  So if you are interested in having a show in your area please contact us as we have an excellent group of individuals who are highly educated and trained in medieval era.
If anyone has any questions please email me at gcmedievaleducation@gmail.com

Hello Ontario Faire goers!

I'm very excited about this year of faires! A couple of things I thought I would add in!

FaeryFest (in Guelph) rehearsals have begun, looks like we'll have a great show again this year - I just hope it doesn't rain - mermaids really dont care for all that fresh water - their skin turns blue!

Casa Loma - remember that you also need to pay for parking (which is expensive), so if you can TTC it, it may save you money - but there are ALOT of stairs to climb. I'm fond of this faire - but it can get VERY pricey - food is available from Shopseys (in the basement) and they usually do a BBQ on the patio. If you wanted to see Casa Loma anyways - this is the best way to do it since you can wander in garb in the closest thing we have to a "real" castle. Lots of great photo ops too.

Princess Sara - I hear you on the garb-appropriate thing. I'm with you sister! Glad I'm not the only one with such a crazy obsession!

1526 - that would be a Tudor faire. (le petite sigh) I desparately want to have an Elizabethan Faire - if anyone can plan one, I'd be ever so grateful! Still  I'm looking forward to a late september faire - it means I wont melt all day! Will it be mostly outdoors - or will there be some indoorsy activites as well? I know there are building at the site, I've just never been in them!

Might I take this opportunity to say "two more weeks to faire, two more weeks to faire" and to also possibly do an excited little dance?

Three more days to Gregor's Crossing Medieval Faire.  The clock is ticking and everything is coming together wonderfully.  Duncan and I will be celebrating our first anniversary so come out to the feast and have a drink with us.  The Thirsty Miller Pub will be open on Friday night at 7:30 for pub sing (admission that night is $5.00)  You will hear the wonderful songs of Eclectic Revival (Chris Kerba and Nick Brodie and their band).  Feast tickets are selling quick so if you plan on attending the tickets are $30.00 which includes Food, Entertainment, your admission into the park all day.

We have oodles of new entertainment this year thanks to the Celebrate Ontario Grant.  Blackthorn Productions will be joining us as well as the Scallagrims (Vikings)- Greg, Sasha and the group.  Looking forward to a wonderful event.  Hope all can join us.

Any questions email me at gregorscrossing@sympatico.ca or call 519-480-3180

Thank you to all for the wonderful support we have had over the past 5 years.  It will only get bigger and better.

We will be back in Morrisburg as well coordinating their faire and looking at a couple of other venues in 2010.  Keep an eye out in your area.

Chelle and Duncan :-*
