Always interested in checking out a fledgling fair.  It was getting good before it closed.

So is this the old fair in a new location or the new fair in the old location?

Looking at the map, I think it is a new fair at the old location.

OK, I'm a little confused by the wording here... Please bear with me.
I was under the impression that the Faire operating at the Chippewa Falls location is under different ownership and is, in essence a "new" faire.  How can a new faire re-open their gates?
The original owners of the faire at this location are opening their faire in Glenwood but still calling it by the same name as before and saying it's their 4 (or is it 5th?) season.

Alright, I'm totally confused.

good friends of mine Dave and Chris Bhend will be attending as the Lord and Lady of Drakenwode.  Please say Hi for me as we cannot make it unless the lottery fairy lites on my shoulder.

Good day,
I will try to shed light on the confusion surrounding the Old Faire/New Faire situation for you.  Approximately eighteen previous Faire shareholders repurchased the Faire Grounds after the foreclosure.  Our original hopes, dreams, and love for this Faire and the property it is located on encouraged us to attempt to save it and bring it back bigger and better than before.  We formed a corporation named Wisconsin Festival Grounds Inc.  We have been working diligently for over a year to bring The Renaissance Faire back.  It has returned under a new name/old location, Chippewa Valley Renaissance Faire.  There is  renewed excitement, new management, and lots of changes in store for the opening.  There are also other events in the planning for the utilization of the property.  We hope to see you there!

As for the Old Faire in the new location...I am sorry to say that I really do not know what is transpiring there. All I know is that a few of the old shareholders moved on to a new location and are planning on restarting the Wisconsin Renaissance Faire in that location sometime in the future.

Well wishes for both Faires!!

Suzanne

Thank you for the clarification, Suzanne.    I know I was not alone in my disappointment when the Chippewa Falls location closed-it had so much potential!

I am thrilled to see that it will be open once again and am excited for the new things yet to come.

As for the Glenwood location...Huzzah to more faires!  I very much look forward to opening day!

Performers and crafters from all over the nation - and regulars from Bristol and other faires will recognize them - are beginning to stream in for next wekend - and the weather looks wonderful!

Hope to see you all there.

So I hear that there are multiple invasions of randomness planned... one of them is an invasion of fae... if we can ever get ourselves all together... but getting fae organized is like herding cats..... nearly impossible.

I just saw on Facebook that the 2012 season has been canceled due to budget problems. I hope the announcement is premature and that things fall into place in time. If not, it's sad to see another faire fold (even for just a season).

Unless the land can be taken back from the bank (it was foreclosed on) there will be no more CVRF.   :'(
Most of the cast from CVRF will be at another faire in Glenwood City Wi.  The faire is called "Ren in the Glen".  We should be hearing more info soon.  The faire will be held the last weekend of July.

I was told by cast at the Chippewa faire just a bit ago that is is being foreclosed on and will not be on. I have no information on any in Glenwood city. That was suppose to be the home of the original Wisconsin Renaissance Faire after they too went under some years back, but that never took place in Glennwood either. Waiting on more information at the moment. I have some calls in to mgt.

Ok, I pu in some calls and it is dead. Funding isn't there. But the Glennwood city thing I know nothing about.

The Guild voted at their last meeting to perform at a new faire called "Ren in the Glen" - this is its first year.   I was on cast and at the meeting.  We (the Guild members) were informed the faire would be the last weekend in July only.  Admission is free - there are no buildings.  The land owner really wants to use the land for a faire.  I know nothing else at this time.  I will do my best to keep everyone posted as the event is set up.

Please keep us informed about "Ren in the Glen". I know the peasants would be interested in playing there.

Glennwood City site is the site we were preparing some years back for the old Wisconsin Renaissance Faire's new location. I was at the initial meeting on the land for it back then. I believe it is even listed in Renaissance Magazine under faires yet for that site. The land has great potential for sure, and the owner of the land was really gung ho clearing a lot of it out for us. It just fell through there as well because of start up funding which you need to make it go. I wish the best for everyone.
