Title: All your camping food problems have been officially solved.
Post by: Valiss on May 31, 2011, 03:46:31 PM
Behold the CANDWICH.

The Candwich, the sandwich in a can, the stuff of viral dreams (or nightmares), is finally for sale. Only the peanut butter and grape jelly variety is available (BBQ Chicken and peanut butter and strawberry jelly are coming soon), and it'll set you back $12 for a 4-pack or $72 for a 24-pack (US shipping included).

According to the website, the Candwich "is the perfect product for people on the go such as students, construction workers, soccer moms and outdoor enthusiasts." It does not require refrigeration and has a long shelf life, and as such it is "perfect for emergency food storage needs in the event of natural disasters." Also, it is "great tasting."

It makes me both curious and sickened at the same time. lol

Scary...honestly I'd rather do what I always do.  Make food ahead of time, put it in vacum sealed bags and freeze them to boil when ready to eat.

That's like those Heater Meals.

I do a lot of emergency prep conferences and asked the guy once what they tasted like.  He said they were OK, but if that's the only food you have then it tastes a lot better! ;D

Yuck! If it must be individually packaged, it should be in glass.

Shhhh, the makers of Surly might hear you!  I swore by bottles until I had their beer. Good beer can be found canned.  I was frightened to learn this.

But pb&j in a can? Sounds like a sign of the apocalypse.

First we had  real cheese

then we had real imitation cheese

then we had cheese food

then we had imitation cheese food

Does that last one bring us back to real cheese.

We live in a world where lemonade is made with artificial flavoring and furniture polish is made with real lemons. I don't remember the author.

I am probably the only weirdo on this forum that would admit I am actually kinda interested in the canwich just as soon as they get the BBQ Chicken out and about. lol... and I happen to like MRE's and Heatermeals.... we got our first heatermeals during Hurricane Ike in Orange TX. They came with a novelty factor too, the self-heating bags were just fascinating to me. ::)

Life is so much more fun when one is simple minded. ;D
