A little Vent Humor:
For those of you who may not know what Ventrilo is, it's a voice chat program that folks use so that we can talk to each other over our computers in groups. A lot of gamers use it to make group game projects go smoother because they can talk with their mics instead of having to type everything out to everyone. That being said, sometimes people are are REALLY SNEAKY vent moderators decide to pull a fast one and mess with folks:

Wow. It wasnt long enough. I think I might ahve to rewatch it several, several times ;D ;D
Nice representation of the kilt but I'd have to disagree entirely with the one made of ties.
My favorite is the first one wearing a jacket! :)

I just thought it was Hilarious. Especially with the fact that he did a back handspring ON THE RUN WAY. hahah
The Leather/PVC one was really cool as was Kilt No. 3 with the almost colonial style red and black jacket and hat and kilt.
In a word... Yum! ;D
There was some reasonable "eye candy" of the female persuasion there too!
Ohhhh, love the cape with tartan lining!
And those knee length pants, very easy to use for a Steampunk outfit.
The only two that caught my eye were the Sean Connery-type gentleman with the tartan lined cloak and the Hugh Jackman type all in black after that dude with the ties.
It's most likely just me but sometimes just because a man CAN wear a kilt doesn't mean he SHOULD wear a kilt.
What I mean is I have seen kilts with legs attached that would be best left covered up.
Jeans, oxford shirts and a great pair of boots.
Yeah.
Funny, WW, because I watched the video right after it was posted this morning, and the only one I liked was the Sean Connery type gentleman. The others didn't look like they knew what wearing a kilt meant.
To my eyes, the other models had an air about them that they were being paid to walk the runway wearing them, so they would, and to me, it almost seemed that some of them were making a joke about wearing them. However, the older man seemed to realize that wearing a kilt isn't like a VS Angel show.
I'm not sure I can explain what I mean, but I know what I mean, if that makes any sense! And I certainly wouldn't disagree that there was some eye candy there, but honestly, I'd prefer that none of the younger models wear a kilt at all, if that's how they would wear it.
Call me old fashioned......
I have to agree that the gentleman who resembled Sean Connery was definitely "doing it right", but I really can't complain about the others...yummy!!!
I also liked the Older Sean Connery gentleman, but I watched all of the other shows in connection to this one and it seems that they were at an auction and were told to just go and have fun with it. Not to be professional.
But out of them all I did like the presentation of the Grey tartan caped man.

I completely understand. Several of them did look uncomfortable and out of place in the kilts. But for me they were eye candy and after the first several I got past that.

Take a look at this clock...
http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf
I would say interesting. Seeing that the clock is built based on data. And some of the date came from Wiki, I'm not sure how much to believe is true or not.
Well, as the "Source Page" states
The stats in the World Clock updated as of July, 2010, using several resources for statistical data:
World Health Organization
CIA Factbook
US Census bureau
UK HomeOffice
Avert.org
International Union Against Cancer
StateMaster
NationMaster
Center for Immigration Studies
National Wildlife Federation
EarthPolicy.org
Wikipedia
We will do our best to keep this data current. This is not an easy task as much of it varies widely throughout the year and many sources report contradictory figures. We recommend that you double-check any stats with other sources.
...so I'm sure there is wiggle room as far as numbers are concerned
Sorry if I came off wrong, I'm not saying its not right. I'm just wondering what info came from Wiki.
But it is very interesting in general.
No worries! ;)

My legs are still working quite well as I begin my 60th year. My office is on the third floor and I use the elevator

It only makes sense to reuse the animations. I reuse computer code all the time! Why reinvent something that's already up and running? The animation that came out of Disney Studios all those years ago is still in a class by itself. You can look at a old Disney cartoon and know it's Disney (or Disney animators). Hayao Miyazaki and his followers are the modern "Disneys." Note that I refer to animation aimed primarily at children, not adults.

Wow, I'm not even really a "plane" person, and I was a bit in awe. What a wonderful backdrop and fantastic choice of music to showcase those planes. I wonder who the band is.. I REALLY liked the pipes.
That brought back some great memories. I used to be a Colonel in the Commemorative (nee Confederate) Air Force. A couple of the stars back in my days was a B-17 dubbed Texas Raiders, and a B-29 named Fifi. I used to work CAF air shows in Arkansas. A lot of the planes that flew those shows in the 80s are no longer. Some just couldn't be maintained any longer, and some augered into the ground. At the time I was a member, Fifi was the only flyable B-29, and starred in a TV movie as "The Enola Gay" which dropped the first atomic bomb. Other movies and TV shows, like Baa Baa Black Sheep starred these aircraft.
You cannot imagine the work that goes into restoring these aircraft and keeping them flying. Even as we try to keep a bit of the Renaissance intact, the men and women of the Commemorative Air Force try to keep a bit of the historical hardware/aircraft in functional condition. It's one thing to keep a sword in usable condition...it's a whole new world to keep an aircraft with four 18-cylinder, 2200 horsepower engines in the air.
To this day, I love the sound of an aircraft with rotary engines...
Serious toe tappin' music!

You may recall from a Mechanics course that the period of a pendulum is proportional to the square root of the length of the line suspending the weight - i.e., the longer the pendulum, the slower it swings.
Harvard students built a device with a series of 15 pendulums in a row, each one slightly longer than its neighbor, then set them in motion and filmed the result.
The resulting patterns in this short video are quite fascinating to watch.

The amphibious car would be a lot of fun. Some of the less young R/Fers might remember the Aquacar that hit the US market circa 1961. I'm assuming it would require both a land license and a water license...
If I had one, it would cut the trip to my mother's house from 18 miles to about 4. She lives just across the river from me...

I've got a few photos of that amphibious car here at at the 2009 Keels and Wheels Boat and Car Show at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX on 2-May-2009. They did demonstrate it on Clear Lake, but I didn't get photos of that. These were shot with my Samsung Point-n-Shoot Camera, before I bought a DSLR.
As a side note, 1960's Shelby Mustangs were the featured "
modern" cars that year, and Duesenbergs were the featured antique cars.

it's a compilation of a bunch of cars crashing as part of a campaign to stop people from running red lights. Most of these crashes are not that serious (no life-threatening injuries).
Just proof of it's worth it to stop and wait for the light to turn green.
It looked like most of those people were just driving with their head up their tailpipe rather than consciously running a red light. I wonder how many were on their cell phone...
When I lived in Memphis for a couple of years in the early 70s, I was warned to count to three before proceeding when the light turned green. That saved my bum on numerous occasions!

thought the same and now the search is on to find one . . . or two.. . .in different keys. ;D
That's fabulous!!! And I WANT one!!!
Only available from the guys who make them in Switzerland, and only a very few a year, for around $1500.00 each... and there's a waiting list that's who knows HOW long! :(
There are several that are being called by a different name . . .
http://www.hangdrumsandhandpans.com/2010/10/alternatives-to-hang-drum-for-sale-halo.html (http://www.hangdrumsandhandpans.com/2010/10/alternatives-to-hang-drum-for-sale-halo.html)
The last one on the list was $400 but the Hang is popping up on eBay at reduced prices occasionally. Humans sometimes choose to be a master of limitation. When they say they can't do something, they limit themselves to that reality as a choice. Postive affirmative boomerangs are the ticket. Try doesn't work either. Only the affirmative, positive . . . "do" will manifest. When ? When you practice doing it with no time limitations. Start with something general or easy like manifesting a parking space. . . or not. The law of attraction can be awesome but, it is often ignored or disregarded due to learned belief patterns. Its not difficult to master unless a limitation is made by labeling it difficult. Now, we go to await manifestation of a Hang or equivalent. ;)
Costing between $225-$335 (at time of writing), depending upon the model. A Moyo drum could be an alternative consideration.
http://www.hangdrumsandhandpans.com/2011/05/moyo-steel-tongue-drum-by-visionhawk.html (http://www.hangdrumsandhandpans.com/2011/05/moyo-steel-tongue-drum-by-visionhawk.html)
See ? Not so out of range as one might believe.
I see.
Then, it is a reality. A choice to limit self, becomes a reality. ;)

Interesting as to what the remains of the warriors tell.
Background: In 1996 a mass burial pit was discovered at the site of the Battle of Towton, a major battle ( 1461 ) during England's War of the Roses.
The mass grave contained the bodies of 41 people. Anthea Boyston and other researchers were able to use forensic anthropological techniques to identify and record the injuries of these individuals' remains in the mass grave.
As one of the very few mass graves discovered on a medieval battlefield, the research collected from this project is reported to have proven to be valuable to historians.

It is an interesting debate topic. The debunk spokesman didn't disclose how many dollars fossil fuel industries spend to sponsor claims of debunking. If he did, I missed it.
Planet cycles of extreme do seem to be supported by many of the earth sciences. The graph didn't seem to debunk the allegation or claims that burning of fossil fuels have sped up or advanced normal earth change cycles.
When a cycle happens, it must be fairly quick when they are finding and digging up thousands of frozen mastadons with fresh daiseys in their belly undigested in Sibera and even some under ice in Antiartica way down there deep in what is claimed to be pre-flood time periods.

Global warming doomsaying is big business equal to hollywood
Fascinating! I'd like to read more about that, Sir Richard. Can you provide me with any references to start with?

No doubt the planet goes through normal cycles over time, and the last of the three videos makes a lot of sense. It would be folly to believe that the planet hasn't had some damage inflicted from space over time. It would also be folly to think that what we are doing—the human race, that is—is not having an impact on the planet as well.
"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." This axiom of physics can be applied to the environment just as easily. We kill off the wolves, and the deer and the antelope play, but in our streets, highways, yards. They become nuisances and dangerous to travelers. They seeded Arkansas ponds with alligators to get rid of the beavers, and created an alligator problem.
We can use the resources of the planet, but we need to take care of the planet as well. Unfortunately, too many are in it only for the money and for the "now." I would be much happier if I knew that there will be a livable planet by the time my great-grandchildren take over. While we may not be causing all the problems, we are intensifying them with our indifference.
No disagreement with those observations Merlin. Outside influences come in all shapes and sizes.

Reports of doomday and end of the world doomsayers have been going around since the last ice age. Thousands of people have ruined thier lifes and the lives of their children listening to them yet there has not been a single case of the doomsayers being right. But a whole lot of them have made a whole lot of money from people that fell for their scams.
Just follow the money and see how many people have made billions preaching the man made Globel warming myth.
Conservationism is a good think and anyone with any sense practice it. Envirnomentalism is just a scam to make a few unprincipled people very very rich.

I haven't read much about what people were saying after the last ice age to comment on that idea but, there is some support that the topic of Global Warming was polarized by politics a little more recently in the human time line.
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/02/06/419371/study-debunks-al-gore-polarized-the-debate-myths-of-public-opinion-climate-change/?mobile=nc (http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/02/06/419371/study-debunks-al-gore-polarized-the-debate-myths-of-public-opinion-climate-change/?mobile=nc)
Like most politically polarized topics of debate, truth is usually somewhere in the middle of the two polarized extremes.
One large or even sizeable "outside influence" from outside the atmosphere of the planet could potentially render the entire debate on Global Warming as a moot point. Europe is spending some Euro to take some steps to attempt to deflect "outside influences". Thanks Europe.
It may be doomsday thinking to study the topic or even to "be prepared". I do like to examine and consider the conflicting information coming out of many with long strings of educated alphabets behind their names. It seems clear the "experts" are in conflict with their graphs and information. It seems clear they certainly do not all agree. The question on how much of the information is politically motiviated, economically motivated and what degree of the topic includes polarizing manipulations of data remains to be seen. Perhaps the only way to see truth is to keep the eyes and mind open. Fear using the "extremes" has probably always been a tool in the toolbox, used to manipulate the masses. Sir Richard's point on that is well taken.

Certainly true, however as a person with scientific background, I have to lean much more heavily toward scientific evidence than mythological predictions. What changes I've seen just during my own lifetime indicate something more than the gradual changes normally attributed to nature.
