Maybe I'm just the last one to notice this, or maybe it is something new ...
Two somethings, actually ...
First, last year I ordered a mead at the Pirate's Pub and was served, as is usual at so many faires, Chaucer's.
This year, on opening Saturday, I ordered a mead at the King's Pub, and was served ... B. Nektar.
I was also asked, "Do you want a small or a larger?"
I felt like Pippin in The Fellowship of the Ring: "It comes in large?"
I did end up opting for the small (7 oz. for $6) instead of the large (16 oz. for $12) because if I got the large I couldn't hold my liquor. Seriously, my goblet is only 8 oz.
Does anyone know if these new developments faire-wide (B. Nektar and the availability of large), or has it long been that way at the King's Pub?
I didn't order mead this weekend because I don't really care for the Chaucer's and history of it being served, etc. So ... how was the B. Nektar?
It was good. Still on the sweet side, rather than dry, but in my opinion, better than Chaucers.
I'll have to give it a try over St Pat's. Thanks for the heads up.
