Colorado can be surprisingly hot this time of year.
Year 2009, I will be going to the Long's Peak Highland Games in Estes Park in September.
September will bring the wedding of our elder daughter, gifting me with another great son-in-law and leaving us truly empty nesters!
Nesters are generally good at home maintenance.
Maintenance of said home was something I learned from my grandfather...Dad was never very handy.
Handy with tools I'am, handy with a blade. I'm learning.
Learning the art of paitence slowly but surely.
Surely this is going to be a nice weekend, weather and all.

Garb in the closet is out numbering mundane clothes.
Clothes are not meant to last forever. That can be unfortunate when you have some favorites that you hate to see wear out.
Out in California, the ocean can be pretty cold.
Cold weather allows you to wear different garb.
Garb should be what you are comfortable with.
With summer officially here, the temperatures will only climb.
Rock climbing requires very specific garb.

Shampoo, which do i choose? Soo many brands.
Brands of shampoo that come to mind, are Pert, Pantene, Head and Shoulder's, Suave,V05. Talk about effective marketing and commercial ads, I don't even use all these, but I remember them.
Them smell funny. Are there any that don't smell like fruit?
Fruit seems to be an on going theme in mass-produced shampoos, try Suave for men, it has a neutral smell, not too fruity and not too sweet, and has sort of like a earthy tone. Lavender based soaps are always good, but they just don't make shampoos that smell real good. Believe it or not, I like the smell of Denorex,but I can't use that all the time, because I don't have chronic dandruff. It's just amazing how scent can affect our moods in so many ways.
Ways and means are in sjort supply for a lot of people.
People should believe in a higher power of some sort.
Sort of like believing in Santa Claus if you ask me, but I say believe what you want, none of us should be wrong in coming up with our own answers to why we're here and why we do what we do, year in and year out.

A situation of personal angst can be cause for one to reach for a "Higher Power". Just keep in mind that "Higher Power" and religion really are two separate things and don't really have much to do with each other.
Other religions have their own ideas of a higher power, it would seem that they don't separate that much. Unless, you speak of the higher power as having no connection to a civilization worshipping said higher power, then yer right.

Winter though cold and dreary is actually the first season in which the days/length of time for amount of sunlight we have, are increasing here in the northern hemisphere. So it's sort of a bitter sweet season.
Season the beef, add vegetables and buillion. Turn the crock pot on high for a few hours and you have a wonderful stew to chase away the winter cold!

It's sad really, I mean I like to see a smart youthful America, but I also would like to see the care-free youth, that I once experinced be experienced by the kids now and into the future.
Future plans require energy that is sometimes hard to come by after working a full time job. But then some people are natural planners while other are not.
Not, planning ahead can either make for future occurances being pleasant surprises, or terrible happenings.
Happenings that lead to happy endings are not unwelcome.
Unwelcome are Saturday and Sunday of this week in which I begin my week long vacation thet are going to be rainy.
Rainy weather is usually welcome when the alternative is 100 degree heat.
Heat is terrible, especially when working in it, but if hanging by the pool or a body of water then by all means bring the heat.
Heat is definitely needed to grill a good steak.
Steak served hot and Medium Well suits me along with large amounts of wine.
Wine is my first drink of choice.
Choice of many wines can lead to decision anxiety.
Anxiety is not something I want to have during the summer.
Summer seems to have come three months early this year.
Year in and year out there is always a reason to have a mug of ale, a glass of wine, a flagon of mead, or a shot of whiskey at your table.
Table manners might be in short supply during barbecue season.
Season of eating, drinking, and merrymaking is in full swing now.
Now we shall dance.
Dance is a good way to work off some calories.
Calories seem to accumulate before we realize it. :-\
It be that damned good beer, wine, and food we drink when the harvest season arrives. I just can't wait. But, I should loose some weight I'm gettin a pot-belly.

Undressed could be bad in come circumstances, but I'm betting there are lots where it is to be preferred.
Preferred clothing in hot weather includes itty bitty teeny weeny bikinis.

They seem to come in chainmail form.
Is it form fitting chainmail? With this heat, OUCH!
OUCH is often times yelled by those wearing overheated chainmail.
Chainmail seems gauranteed to cook you medium rare at a faire in Texas.
Texas seems to be the home of the chainmail bikini.
Bikini wearers would do well to avoid chainmail in Texas in the summer!
Summer is certainly a better time to wear a bikini than winter.
Winter, the thoughts of it now in these days of heat are most inviting. So I guess it's good we have a change of seasons. Even the cools of January in Texas are more welcome than this heat in the Midwest and Texas.
Texas is a great place for planning getaway weekends.
Weekends take to long to arrive and leave again all too soon.

Parking lots at the MNRF are becoming much smaller.
Smaller parking lots mean less people and playtrons attending faire, that's terrible.

Vacation for me is labor day weekend and week. I can't wait, three days in a row of renfest and who knows what else for the rest of the week.

Fun is where you find it. Myself, I find it in Fredericksburg and the thirty-seven wineries that are near the town.
Town wineries are great but I prefer breweries and there's two not far from my home!
Home of some of the best craft breweries is here in Michigan, but I drink so many different beers from the states and the world. That I can't say they are the only best. Evry beer is unique and is good in its own way, sort of like people.
People for sure have various tastes in what they enjoy for alchohol.

Night time parties make for tired days.
Days are for sleeping.
Sleeping is neccesary for good health. A lot of people like to say you can sleep when your dead. But if you don't get enough rest in the meantime you'll be dead sooner than you should have been. Just ask the highway patrol about truckers who try to drive while drowsy.
Drowsy driving is just as bad as drunk driving.
Driving while distracted (like talking on a cellphone, or worse, TEXTING) can be added to that list.
List your distractions and I'm sure that children will be included on that!

Drunk, yeah I was that Monday night, into early Tuesday morning had to take a day off work to recover, stayed up too late watching T.V. and drinking beer. T.V. is so much better when you drink while watching. I like watching comedies and cartoons usually, but sometimes even action films are bettered as well.
Well, I sort of agree in that the David Lynch movie "Eraserhead" is a lot funnier if you have a couple of shots of scotch or about 3 beers in your system.
System failures have been the bane of my existence ever since my jobs have required the use of computers.
Computers fuel addiction. Seriously, I need to NOT turn on the computer in the morning if I want to get anything done because otherwise my entire day is gone and all I've done was be on the computer! The worst part, I will spend the entire day going back and forth between only 3 or 4 sites! You never know when something new will be added.
Added to the problem of spending too much free time at the computer is that I'm chained to my computer at work too. It's no wonder my eyes are going bad!
Bad eyesight is only the beginning; cricks in my neck, my back gets out of alignment, leg cramps, all the freakin
Hostess Ding Dongs went to my thighs and behind, and I literally have a callous on my elbow from leaning
on the leather armrest. The chair is sucking my life force right through my elbow.
Elbow pads weren't made for use with computers but it sounds as though you may need them in this situation!
Situation normal, now that's a misnomer if I ever heard one.
One should get up from the pc and walk around the block a couple of times instead, is my advice.

Today we have had both bad and good weather. It rained in the morning and now is clear and sunny.
Sunny and a high of 87 here in Houston, so I can still wear shorts, which has become an added decision to make in this city in the month of October.

Source of any heat is good. I like the old fireplace, even though I don't have one, but my aunt does and the fall and winter are nice times to visit because she'll fire it up and we'll all tell stories and eat and drink by the fire, it's so comforting and takes us back to a time without televisions and computers. It's right in her living room, which the T.V. is there, but she doesn't watch much of it anyhow. When I get a house, I plan on either buying one that has a fireplace, or getting one installed.
Installed fireplaces can be just as nice as original built in fireplaces- as long as they are done properly.
Properly installing a fireplace takes knowledge, skill, and time--none of which I have!
Have you any inclination to learn?
Learn a new song every day and you will have joy in your heart. Or at the very least you can drive your co-workers crazy.

Head colds are such an inconvenience. About the only positive thing you can is that it beats a chest cold.
Cold weather is on it's way which means soon it will be cold (the illness) season. Although if you can believe it, I tend to catch cold more often in the summer.
Summer colds really are the worst! You just don't expect to get a cold in the summer and so it knocks you on your keester. I wouldn't be so cruel as to make you continue this thread with the word keester though.

Point me in the direction of the hot cocoa or coffee! It is COLD and snowy in the great North of Minnesota!
Minnesota certainly knows how to do winter--hot cocoa and coffee for everyone!!
Everyone probably likes hot cocoa or cider at some time.
Time and time again, I'm confronted with that choice this time of year. Cider is only refreshing, when it's consumed in the summer or warm last days of fall, if cold, unless it is mulled and heated. Then it's a good winter drink. Cocoa is good though it doesn't pack an alcohol punch it makes up for in having low THC levels close to Marijuana. So still good. I'd have to go with cocoa.
Hot cocoa is a favourite of mine in the colder winter months. A nice additive is a bit of Irish Cream.
Cocoa in its unsweetened form is a major component of chocolate cake. I think one of those sounds pretty good right about now.
Now that Thanksgiving is almost here, I'm not thinking cocoa or chocolate cake so much as cider and pies. The pies should be pumpkin and apple, and the cider, hard!
Hard cider is a darn sight better than hard lemonade.
Lemonade, hard or not, is really more of a summer drink.
Drink, at least the alchohol kind, isnt seasonable in my eyes. :)

Movie watching is something I do a lot of this time of the year but it tends to be the same holiday movies I watch every year. Don't get me wrong, I love "Holiday Inn" but I suppose I really should expand my horizons a little!

Elder berries are used to flavor gin, but I prefer Scotch to Jack Daniels or any brand of gin, if I choose to drink an American bourbon it's Jim Beam for me. Also, Jim Beam gallon whiskey jugs make great vessels to hold home made wine. I know from experience.
Experience the side effects of real gin and you might change your mind about it.
It will probably come as no surprise to anyone here but I'm quite fond of gin. Gordons for everyday gin and tonics, etc. and Plymouth Gin for special occasions. It doesn't work well at Faire but I always have some at home!
Home, in my opinion, is the best place for drinking, gin or otherwise. :)

TV is okay if you watch shows you really want to watch. Unfortunately, I sometimes find myself watching whatever is on just to be watching something, and then it just becomes a waste of time.
Time flies when you are having fun. It crawls like a son of a gun when you have nothing worthwhile to watch!
Watch tv as little as possible, it will be easier on your eyesight.

Boxes of the lunch variety with letters on them seem not to be as popular these days as they used to be.
"Be Kind... Rewind!" is a phrase that many younger people would not know.
Know what, Merlin? Even when I did see that phrase on those primitive moving-picture casette boxes, I never did rewind.
Rewind to be kind is an interesting phrase.
Phrase dictionaries are helpful only if they keep up with the pace at which slang changes. For instance, if some old timer asks you "How's your Granny off for soap", should you assume what it means or not?
Not knowing the meanning of phrases has cause many conversations to end on a wrong note.
Note to self, know the meaning of phrases! ;)

Friends in garb are a good excuse to attend a Renaissance festival.
Festival days in the Fall are second only to festival days in early spring.
Spring is a terrific time to start your faire season. I'm lucky that I can do so with The Robin Hood Springtime Festival in Connecticut. A wonderful faire and a great start to the season!
Season doesn't seem to matter for Fest in Minnesota- we run 7 weekends starting mid August (tomorrow!) and we have had snow one day and 90 degrees the next!
Next time I go to that house, I should do that thing I do.

Packing is a pain in the posterior. I got most of our DVDs packed into eight 1.5 cubic foot boxes. That's 1.33 cubic yards of movie discs!
Discs are one thing but I've still got dozens of VHS tapes in boxes! Anyone else have a VHS player that still works?

Tent camping can be done with all the comforts of home. It's just not easy.

For what it's worth, I very much enjoy tent camping- whether it is full of the comforts of home or just the bare bones basics. Of course, that also depends on the situation leading to the camping in the first place.
