Title: Getting from here (Mpls) to there (Bristol).
Post by: Baron Doune on July 03, 2008, 06:40:33 PM
The past couple of times I've drove to Bristol I always went through Milwaukee.  Big hassle.

Last year I went to Janesville and then east to I-94, much better.

I-94 to Madison, South on I90/I39 to Janesville.  East on 14 to Delavar. East on 50 to 31 and the Bristol area.

And Lake Geneva is where the Baroness wants to retire after the Power Ball win.

Hi Baron,

We found Rt. 50 after many years of going to Bristol from Galena, and now we won't go any other way.  It is a great route.  And fast,  for the most part, though there are a few spots where you go through local traffic, lights, and shopping centers.

However, with the most direct route to Bristol being closed for construction, Rt. 50 is a great alternate.

See you in just over 2 weeks!

ladiedragon these are instructions given by locals that have been traveling to bristol since construction has begun they were created by people that have been attending all the classes and practices for this season's fair, so coming from racine follow the instructions for "traveling south on 94 to south lot which will be the preferred parking space where you pay 3 bucks to park there:

Construction of an industrial park at the corner of Hwy 165 and the West
Frontage Road is going to affect the fair all season long. The west frontage
road will be closed from Hwy 165 south to 116th Street from July 1 (or sooner)
until October 15. There will be no access to the west frontage road from Hwy
165. Our patrons coming from the north will use an alternate route to get to the
fair."

Traveling S on I-94 to FREE LOT, PARTICIPANT GATE, EAST GATE

Take exit #345/CR-C EAST-WEST onto Frontage Road (120TH AVE) - go 0.3 mi
Turn Right on WILMOT RD (CR-C) - go 1.0 mi
Turn Left on 136TH AVE (CR-U)  - go 2.1 mi
Turn Left on 116TH ST - go 1.0 mi
Turn Right on 120TH AVE - go 0.5 mi to Free lot, Participant Gate, and East Gate

Traveling S on I-94 or E on WI 50 to SOUTH GATE

(From I-94) Exit on WI 50 (75TH ST) going West - go 4.8 mi
Arrive at US-45 & WI 50, BRISTOL, WI turn LEFT (or Right when traveling E on WI
50) onto US 45 (197TH AVE)
Continue to follow US-45 S - go 5.6 mi
Turn Left on 128TH ST (CR-WG) - go 3.8 mi to SOUTH GATE

Traveling N on I-94

Exit at GRAND AVE (IL-132), GURNEE going  W - go 0.9 mi past Gurnee Mills Mall
Turn Right on N HUNT CLUB RD (CR-29) - go 7.8 mi
Turn Right on 128TH ST (CR-WG) - go 1.0 mi to SOUTH GATE
(From other Illinois locations, you may also take US 45 N to 128TH ST turn Right
and go 3.8 mi to SOUTH GATE)

what time are you coming from michigan, if i were you i would go ahead and take 294 to 94 and go ahead and exit russell rd-stop sign turn left-at first street ya come to turn right and faire is on the left, i have taken all the alternate routes regarding the construction and found that taking all the detours wasn't worth it, but honestly it depends on what time you are coming and returning, i left faire last sunday headin your way at 5pm and didn't have problems enough to justify taking the detours. let me know when you are coming to bristol if ya haven't gotten tickets yet i have bargain tickets from my local radio station, also there is a meet and greet every weekend i won't have another one on sat. cause last weekend i was sitting alone and noone else showed up. but lady renee holds one every sunday that she is in attendence.

I look forward to the Meet and Greet, I also found directions to that, near the Town Square Pub, right?

We had to travel south on 94 (from Racine where we were staying). I am very used to road contruction so its never bothers me. I took the directions that Wildthingjew provided and doing my usual "theres got to be an easier way" (No offense wildthingjew, you have been very helpful and I thank you) I decided that we needed to figure out a different way.

I found that on that (atleast on the first weekend) you could travel south on 94 just into Illinois and take exit A1. This is just into the road construction but its not where they were actually working. You take a right after you use the exit, head to the stop sign take another right and that takes you right to the main gate. It was really easy.

I hope this helps and have a great time. LD & I love Bristol!

yes, that is correct, we usually meet under the trees to north of the hall, also i can save ya 3.95 per pair if want me to have tickets for you

Rage, hi, miss you two, uhurainmi is coming from michigan, i know what ya mean about the detour routes, i camped last weekend towards racine and like you first day i took detour and next time i went ahead and didn't use the detours and the detours are a waste of time in my opinion

Last Sunday, driving home, the main road back to I94 going north was closed, so we ended up detouring in a big round about way to get to 50.

We found that driving east on 50 while going to faire, the directions that wildthingjew gave, (which was turn right on Rt. 45 then left on County Road WG, take to end, turn left and you're at the Bristol parking lot), saved us about 15 minutes from taking 50 all the way to I94 south and then taking the Bristol exit.

It made a 3 1/2 hour drive (that we've been doing for bout 12 years) into a 3 hour drive, so we are thrilled to find that route.  We normally take it home, too, but last weekend, we wanted to go into Kenosha to get something to eat before driving home, so we tried to get to I94 and had some problems.

Hope to see lots of friends on Sunday!

Thank you kindly, I'll bring my tankard. Can't wait to hear about Kentucky.
I am thinking of wearing what is called a Maid Marian dress. It's a dress maker I was involved with a few years ago. I think it will be easier to get ready. Last year, I took too much 'stuff'.
Paul will wear the kilt one day. He loves it and finds it easy to wear.
