Title: A Photo Thread...
Post by: jayadancer on September 04, 2008, 08:57:02 PM
I'm new both in the forum and to the PRF.  You've all been incredibly wonderful in welcoming me to your family.

I'm generally not very useful, but I do have way too much time on my hands.  Our particular act seems to collect more business cards then tips, so I thought everyone might enjoy seeing the photos of the PRF that are popping up all over!

Several of these photographers have captured those tiny details in the magical texture of the days that make me catch my breath.  I find myself looking forward to the weekends with an enthusiasm I felt as a child on Christmas Eve-- the enchantment and the antici... pation!

You have all been amazing and I can't thank you enough for your many, many kindnesses...

Ah!  Thanks to the good Professor's tutelage (or the Professor's good tutelage!) I have the "modify thread" thing down now!  I'll add to them here as we receive them.

Hello Jaya!  There is a forum for Introductions, where you can say "hello" to the whole ren community.  You'll be surprised how many friends you have that you just haven't met yet.

I'm glad someone finally started a photo thread.  We seem to be the only forum that gets less busy during our run.  The other sites tend to post most of their messages while their faire is going, then taper off the rest of the year.  We're pretty active all year long.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.  And, if I haven't said it already, welcome to the family.

Thank you Professor!  I really can't tell you all how much I love my new family.  There's going to be an irreparable hole in my heart in a few weeks, I can feel it already each Sunday at sunset.

And thank you Ray-- your photos are *amazing*!  I love the pictures you took of stage cast members when they were offstage and street cast when they weren't paying attention.  I love to see glimpses of "the mountain behind the mountain," as the Irish say!

I don't know how to reedit my original post like Terry always does, so all I can do is keep making new posts with new photo links.

This one is video.  (Professor, look at you gettin' down with ya bad self!)

I haven't included photos or video of just single acts, although if you search (try misspelling "renaissance!") you can find a number of them.

Haha! I'm certainly no dancer, but ever since my high school years in the marching band I can't keep my feet still when there's music playing.  Thanks for the links!

Yes, and some of us have learned to have a good laugh when we have those moments ourselves!

*Like when I asked Rose Singer whose sleeve she was making.  DUH!  Seriously, just one more cup of coffee that morning would have done wonders for my day.  LOL!

Sir Raymond, I see your pictures are protected.  I'd like to download some of them for my personal use.  I've been collecting photos for years and I like to point my screen saver to display them.  Would you please tell me how I can get access to them?

I am also interested in getting copies of a few for my living room wall. I will be willing to pay for them if that is possible. Thanks.

I did not make the photos downloadable for protection of my subjects.  Also the ones on line are made into a low file size because of the amount of photos I have on the site.  if they are copied the will pixilate and be unclear.

If you want copies send me an email to featherphoto@yahoo.com. I can make prints as large as 20x30.

Kip my dear (and everyone else who's in my camera's sights),

Thank you for the compliment.  I try to avoid posing my subject, I feel I get to capture your souls *insert evil laughter here* better that way.  I can't wait to be with all my dear friends this weekend and capture the final weekend of what has been an amazing Faire run!  If anyone has any specific shots they want, let me know.  You all know how to find me!

Foxglove, I love your pictures, especially because they aren't posed.  Posing makes me look dopey.  (OK, dopier than usual).

M,

Remember, the camera cannot lie...so if the image is nice, it's because the subject is such!  ;)

As for looking dopey, you sir, never!  And What Sadira's line: "Don't worry about looking cool, you're already at a Renaissance Festival."  :-*

I wasn't clever enough to think of this before, but yesterday I gave my camera to my favorite playtron (<3) to take pictures during pub sing. I definitely should have thought of this before, but I'm happy that I at least have a few nice pictures on my camera of some really awesome people. :) Feel free to take them if you would like.

And then here are a few pictures from after the cannon when we all were acting a bit sillier than usual. :P (Thanks for flicking me off, Lord High Mayor!! Tho I did initiate it haha)

With so many great photos, amateur and professional, it would be great to se the faire's website updated to include shots of Morelandshire, it's cast and performers instead of Colorado.

so i don't think everyone knows this, but on saturday one of the horses got spooked before the joust and ran into the gate and knocked someone over.  well, if you care to take a gander, apparently feather photography got it all on camera!!

She is actually a worker from Colorado who was helping out with the gate, as a safety precaution for the general public.  She was not harmed and neither were any of our visitors.  That's why it's so important to have alert and competant people.  Nevertheless it isn't the sort of event we like to call attention to, and I hope few people see it.

*giggle*  They don't even have the Colorado performers quite right on our website-- that's Eric in the Charming and Dashing photo, not Rook.  So even the copped-out photos are cop-outs!   :D

But since both Laurie and Ray (and others) have provided so many breathtakingly gorgeous photos this year, maybe the management will have the opportunity to update the website to reflect Pittsburgh's fabulous cast and site by working with the two of them.  The photographers this year really managed to catch the true personality of the festival, and what makes our family and site unique and fun.  It would be awesome to get a chance to show all of that hard work and passion off!

Hey, we can hope, right...?

We were back at our vehicles for the noon break at the time and saw the horse trotting through the parking lot, knights in pursuit.  It was kinda surreal.

Professor and Jaya,

Sorry about the photos for the girl and the horse going astray. I have been processing so many photos I forgot they were in there to load on my site. The photos have since been removed.

I agree everyone has taken some awesome photos of the festival. It would be very difficult to pick photos they are all so good.

Hey, on a related note-- does anyone have contact info for the Hogan Brothers?  They gave me a fabulous DVD of pics and video of The Sisters, but some of the participants in another show they caught would really like me to get the video of theirs as well.

Since the brothers gave me my DVD in person, I don't know how to get in touch with them online.  Dare I hope they'll be around Thursday evening, and that perhaps someone would have an email addy for me to make my request in advance?
