Inspired by Amras Elfwine, It is ordered into the Landsharks' Code Book:
Plunder: Elbow bending
Suggestions are welcomed for addition to the LCB!
Fins up!
Sure, I'd love to roll in the sand with a rock-n-roll man..... ;)
See your renmail!
Should a special award, or perhaps requirement be, that for the lyrics of our beloved minstrel: "I have been drunk now for over two weeks" you cane honestly reply ...."been there, done that!" ?
....Not that I should encourage such reckless behavior (again)......
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
and we wound up drinkin' all night.
Like I explain'd to you once before I ain't no drinkin' man
But temptation got the best of me
And I took a slash
That yella whiskey runnin' down my throat
like honey dew vine water
And I took another slash,
Took another'n an another'n an another'n
For you knew I'd downed one whole jug of that shiner bock
and commenced to gettin' hot flashes
Whooo Hooo!!!!! from Landshark 22!!
Well, at least it wasn't 'Why don't we get drunk and...' oh, look! COOKIES!
White chocolate macadamia nut cookies, no doubt. :D
Bimbo limbo is where I been.
I know you know it's been wearin' me thin.
Times are changing, and I think it's time.
I'm rearranging all the guilt in my mind.
Chorus:
I'm looking for a smart woman in a real short skirt,
A smart woman who knows how to flirt,
A smart woman, got a mind of her own,
A smart woman who'll take me home,
Take me home.
I'm not your macho kind of guy,
But I can be so when I'm feeling shy.
Hey, baby, where'd you get your good looks?
Ooh, babe, I want to carry your books.
(CHORUS)
Beauty and brains (beauty and brains),
The best of both worlds (best of both worlds)
I think I could change (think I could change)
If you'd be my, be my, be my girl.
(CHORUS twice)

The cookies? :o
Of course. ;)
Half-baked cookies in the oven? I prefer FRUITCAKES!
I have a purple ballcap that says 'Fruitcakes on Tour' and on the back it says
'Fruitcakes of the World Unite'
;D
Cool hat!
So, I'm assuming that I shall be a guppy for the next 33 days since my 40th is not until June 22?? (PM sent with info you requested Taffy Saltwater).
Using my amazing discretionary powers, I proclaim PurpleDragon to be a Landshark, with all (dis)honors pertaining thereto. Ping!
As a matter of fact, wenchie, I'm wearing my Fruitcakes on Tour T even as we type...
You rock! Do me a solid & PM me your dane name & mailing addy when you get a chance. Thanks!
Fins up!
I'd prefer a cheeseburger, meself.
With lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes. Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer. ;) ;D
Good God Almighty!
Failin' that, I have one question........Who's gonna steal the peanut butter?? :D
I'll get a can of sardines! But a cheeseburger - now you're talking!
Fins up, Landsharks!
Remember: Treasure is found; Booty is taken!
Don't forget to shake, shake, shake it!
Well I've been here.
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late
I've done a bit of smugglin', I've run my share of grass.
Sending you a pm
Over forty, well really over fifty.
Seem many an ocean and sea.
Requesting to be a landshark.
Like the cheeseburger part.
Got your PM w/your specifics - many thanks! Another Landshark bites the bait! You are most welcome to the ROoL - will post your # when I get home. ROoL is becoming quite a force to be reckoned with!
Lakes below the mountains
Flow into the sea
Like oils applied to canvas
They permeate through me
And there's that one particular harbour
Sheltered from the wind
Where the children play on the shore each day
And all are safe within
Most mysterious calling harbour
So far but yet so near
I can see the day when my hair's full gray
And I finally disappear
What a beautiful poem Lavender!
Tis a wonderful poem Lavender.
It's one of my favorite Buffett songs, One Particular Harbour off his 1989 Feeding Frenzy album.
Thanks for the Buffett injection, Lavender! Fins UP!
Hey got my fin in the mail! Huzzah! ;D

No, thank you! I love presents.
Fins UP
So, I went to get my mail last night and as I placed my hand in the box I felt a strange package. Thinking to myself, "I did not order anything and no one told me to expect anything" I pulled out this manila envelope with a lumpy object in it. I examined the senders name and address in the yellow glow of the street light above and came to the conclusion that I did not know who this was from. Opening the package I reached inside to find that it was a little piece of abalone (sp?) shell on a pin. It was my ROoL PIN!
I was so excited that I put it on right there and wore it the rest of the night.
Ahaha It is wonderful and I feel so special. I will be wearing it every day I am at fair. I need to get myself a swag rag, I am getting quite a few pins now.
Fins Up!
I got me fin pin as well, Luv. I keep it with me favorite St. Buffett CD "Changes in Latitudes"
A permanent part of me Pirate garb if there ever be one!!!
Thank you....and.....FINS UP!!!
Oh, I got mine today, it's just beatiful!
Thank you! (yup, a permanent part of me pyrate garb!)
Got mine the other day and it is great.
Thanks and fins up.
Thanks for the fin pin! Came yesterday in the mail.
Mine came in yesterday's mail. I had to explain to the wife what ROoL stood for and then explain why some strange person is sending me a package. LOL. Anyway, I am almost thinking it is to beautiful a piece to wear at faire for fear of losing it.
I'm glad the phins are landing in your mailboxes. The pinbacks came as two-piece kits, but I think the butterfly clip may be wonky. If you have an extra clip that seems secure, please replace the one that came w/yours.
The phins are fin shaped (for Landsharks), abalone colored (for the sea - pirates y'know), and guitar picks (for Jimmy). Peace & Fins UP!
We got our. Thank-you. In a week of disappointing news it really helped.
Will hafta work on somethin' for you now, luv!
Got mine yesterday. Thank you!
I am so happy to have recieved my fin! I am several grey hairs beyond guppy, but I felt as giddly as a tadpole when I opened the odd feeling package and at first couldnt imagine what I was looking at... then the light filled my sails... and you could have heard me yipping to the yardarms. Thank you m'dear!
(http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i231/LittleCasino/Fishing%20gifs/sharkwake_lg_clr.gif) Got mine too!
Sir William Marcus - you're #46 - I missed the mark by *that* much. Fins UP, Landsharks!
46 it is...Thanks Taffy!
I am very impressed w/your swimming shark - this fish, on the other hand, scares the cheeseburger out of me. But Fins Up on the visual aids.
'Oh heck..don't fret none, thats just ole snaggle tooth
I need a Landshark number ... But thanks for the ROol pin it is wore everyday.. which messes with my fellow workers.. FINS UP!!!

I had the good fortune this Friday past of meeting out divine founder Taffy Saltwater in person. Such a sweet lass (for a pirate anyway), and I was also fortunate enough to partake of a "Landshark Beer".. that's correct you read that right, a Landshark Beer.. 'twas somewhat along the lines of a Corona, but because it had the name "Landshark" on it, actually tasted GOOD. :)
As far as an old broad can blush, I'm blushin'! My compliments back atcha, Dragon - it's always good to meet a fellow R/F'er & Landshark. I'm hoping to see lots more of everyone at TRF (c'mon, Fall!)
Thanks to Lavender for posting the original Mission Statement and to everyone for making us what we are - should we be hiding from the Law?
I'll try to get caught up on the new members' Phins this week. If they don't go out this week, it probably won't be until sometime in August as I am in the middle of moving - headdesk.
Thanks & Fins UP!

So, Happy 4th, and prepare to feel the effects and affects of many cold Landshark Ales lifted to you all tomorrow!!

Just thought of my fellow landsharks, the game rockband (to which i am shamefully addicted....gotta have something for those of us without talent!) now has a song back by our favorite minstrel! You know I got it that and was soon jamming away on the plastic guitar-ish thing to cheeseburger in paradise, volcano, and margaritaville! Some fun to pas the time until fair!

I've been wondering, how many of this great group of land sharks have actually been out to sea. No specific reason, I was just wondering. Myself, I've been out to sea in the Navy. Several times in what one would call heavy seas of 4 feet. The most interesting where Hurricane Helene, which was a level 4, fun ride. Then Hurricane Hugo category 5. Mr Toad's wild ride had nothing on that one.
A great big welcome to all the newest land sharks from land shark #56 fins-up to all of you and ahve a most wounderful day ;D ;D

Just little fishing jaunts & a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, booze cruises, & that sort of touristy thing.

The Navy for me too. First time out was in a cat 5 storm. The Frigate I was on was rolling so far that if you were on the bridge wing, you could scoop water with your hands. Beats the heck out of any roller coaster I've been on!
My last two jaunts were significantly tamer in terms of weather. Two Renaissance-themed cruises to the Caribbean. Nothing like strolling the decks in full pirate kit! ;D
Martin Montgomery here,Landshark #79! Never been to sea as of yet but have always wanted to! I'm thinking "Cruise Ship" not "Pirate Ship" ( L.A.N.D.S.H.A.R.K.) Not "Watershark!!!"
The only thing beyond fishing jaunts was a Caribbean cruise. Trying for a east coast cruise next year.
I've been out on the open sea a couple of times. Takes me a couple of days to get past the seasick. Big boats, big seas, ya know?
Taffy, #'s 76 & 77 say thank you for the privilege of joining you. 77 spent the better part of 4 years at sea in the Navy back in the 70's. #76 gets seasick tied up to the dock---but I do love to watch the sun come up over the water--does that count?
Landshark #24---I live in coastal Florida! Home of St Buffett.
Need I say more? :D
I served 6 years with the Navy. Fire Controlman, at your service! I wonder if a CWIS could be put on a pirate's ship......could be FUN!!

Ah, Wenchie. Sebastian Inlet - my favorite place to surf, lots of sharks (in the water kind) notwithstanding. Were you out there on a surfboard? Now I'm homesick, though I haven't lived there for 13 1/2 years.
I wish I had been, Renee--it was a spur of the moment trip. Sebastian Inlet was my kids' favorite place to surf.
And as you can see by the size of the person in the left corner, it was definitely a 'shoot the curls' kind of day!

Newbie, have your info, just thought I'd phin you at phaire. Otherwise, new phins take a longish while to get out - particularly when every non-working moment has been spent readying for phaire.
That goes for all the other new members - I think the phins have gone out through No. 85 - if you see me, please introduce yourself & I'll be glad to take care of it.

LandShark #87 here, checking in. Thanks for the Phin update! I'm trying to figure out a way to get down there from OKC for AHE, but not looking doable so far. Never say die, though!!! I would much rather be Phinned at Phaire than by the mailman! LOL

Just wanted to check. Hope getting phin'ed isn't painful. :) TRF can't come fast enough! Just ONE MORE DAY before we head out! Are we there yet?
Whoa...I just thought...no internet for 4 whole days! What will I do? Oh, the agony!
Phinning is painless - not to worry! Day after tomorrow we awaken to faire - *SQEEEEE!*
I think I'm a new member of the Royal Order of Landsharks... in the Countdown to TRF thread Taffy said she was going meet the newest Landshark, Lady Ann (me I think) at the POW at noonish this Saturday, so even tho I haven't officially been notified and I don't (think I) have a number yet...I guess I'm a member! So, Yay! ;D
That's you, Lady Ann of Draycott! I think you're in the general neighborhood of Landshark No. 95 - I don't have the book on me at work (shh!). I thought I RM'ed you - I'll just blame the memory lapse on years of hair color, k?
I'm bringing phins for the newest members and a couple to replace lost phins - they do have a habit of swimming away! If I pull my stuff together in the next day, I may have another nice gifty for the Shiver.
Fins UP!
Yay! I'm a Landshark!!! Thanks Taffy!!! ;D
Lady Ann of Draycott, just checked the records - you're Landshark No. 96!
Fins UP!
I did not know I was a Landshark but Taffy presented me with the pin on Saturday and proclaimed that I am now one of the brave and aged. I proudly accept this honor but I have no idea what number I may be. Long Live Landsharks!
Hi, Keeper of the Bar! That was just the Landshark favor - you're not actually a Landshark - unless you want to be. Let me know! It was good meeting you, thy Goode Wife, & StudMuffin - long may he prance!
Thank you Taffy. Yes I would like to be a Landshark. I certainly meet the age requirement and love Jimmy B.
I fear that was not my goode wife but rather a dear cousin. And I am a bit angered at StudMuffin. For the first time in years he threw me from the saddle. Thankfully a few strong gentlemen caught him and assisted me in remounting. I don't think it was the ale that caused the misdeed (I only had a half dozen or so) but rather the uneven ground spooked him. I may have to ask Queen Bonnie to enchant him for me.
Sorry to hear about your Spill, Keeper of the Bar!! I will happily enchant Stud Muffin for you! I know just the spell! Still working on the spell to enlarge and bring to life that wizard you made for me! Grammercy! Wonderous job! Perchance I shall meet his real counterpart next weekend? I am working on spells and potions!
Lovely to see you Taffy! My Evil Twin says Thanks for the Letter of Marque! She will make TRF on Pirate weekend- if the winds blow in the right directions and I let her steal- er- Borrow the MeowMobile again to get her and all her weaponry there!
LOL, I can't believe I managed to miss meeting up with everyone this weekend! Oh Well, I'll just have to catch up with everyone next time, I won't have a brand newbie to be showing about any more, So I can show up on time.
Oh well, since when were we timely?
Keeper of the Bar, remind me to give StudMuffin a little swat to keep him in order. Between my smacks & Queen Bonnie's charms, he will surely toe the line - & I need to add you to the Big Pink Rolodex of Destiny. Queen Bonnie, t'was a marvelous thing to see thy bewitching self again.
It was so good to see the RF'ers & Landsharks - it's always special to meet at faire!
Just wanted to drop in and say hello and sorry I missed everyone opening weekend. I have good reason though...we have a brand new guppy, Gareth Andrews was born Oct. 11, 2008 at 2:23pm...pics will be posted soon (once I figure out how) ;D

Congratulations on the newbie! We have a new Extreme Guppy to add to the rolls! I'll be out on Saturday - Pirates - Woot! Woot! - & hope to see you there. I attended first weekend & blew out a knee so I haven't been there the last two weekends.
I haven't forgotten the new Orderers - even w/o going to faire it seems like the weekends are filled w/putting together new "bits" for garb.

Mistress Taffy, since I was unable to make it down to your neck of the harbor this season I guess I'll just have to settle for being Phinned by the mailman after all :-\ , and I'm looking forward to receiving my Letter of Marque from Our Lady Queen, as well!!!

I got Letters printed today & will work on embellishing them tonight. I also put together envelopes for the new Sharks's memberships packages. Keep your fingers crossed for weekend dropoff.
WOW... aren't you just the busy one!!! When you say you're gonna do something it gets done, don't it???
HUZZAH for Capt. Taffy!!!

Phins UP Taffy, hope your feeling better. ;)
Joyful news, o patient ones! Your steadfast leader has gotten together the new members' packages together, except for one which I'll have to reprint tomorrow. I see a post office run in my near future and a little sumpn sumpn in your mailbox.
Phins UP!
HUZZAH!!! #87 reporting the receipt of Phin and Letter of Marque, delivered by post this 14th Day of December!!! ;D ;D ;D
It's beee-u-dee-full!!! So SHINY... and colorful!!! I'm wearing it now, and I have to keep looking at it upside-down... LOL I'm in the process of reading my Letter, also, but I just had to jump on here and say Thanks, Mistress Taffy!!! I LOVE IT!!! Now when I say PHINS UP, I can really mean it!!!
PHINS UP!!!
A Very Helpful Hint (as the pin backs tend to slip off) that was given to me is to take a toenail clipper & holding it against the groove on the pin, run the clipper around the groove to give the pin a little more hold.
I'm so glad the packages are starting to come in & Phins UP!
Landshark # 97 reporting for duty. I shall seek to "acquire" all the cheeseburgers, etc that I can from the enemy.
Thanks so very much Taffy.

Indeed, that's what I came up with as a good fix. Just be very careful not to cut through the pin all the way!! Be gentle, and you'll be fine. All it needs is a slightly deeper groove to bite down on.
PHINS UP!!
Hats off to you, Maclaren! The toenail clipper idea is a keeper (even if my ole noggin can't remember its originator). Phins UP!
N'a problem cap'n,
I be doin' well if I'n remember me own name e'ry morn!!
Please add me to the roster of the wonderful Landsharks. Although, for some time I will be in the Guppy status of course. Capt Taffy I have PM'd my info :)

Ummm... there was a cheeseburger??? I saw no cheeseburger, and no, that is not cheese at the corner of my mouth!!! And you are not smelling big kosher pickle juice, either!!!
Phins UP!!!
Ok... I will admit it... I'm not a beer drinker, not even cold draft beer...
But hey, cider is brewed, right?!? Does it still qualify???
Any drink you crave is muy kosher by me! Cheeseburgers - did Maclaren mention cheeseburgers?

I think MacLaren is stashing the cheeseburgers!!! He's just trying to throw us off the scent! Yeah, that's it!!! It's aaaall him... 8)
Oh, Captain Taffy... great shot!!! I wanna cheeseburger in that particular piece of paradise!!! I'd even let 'em put a slice of pineapple on it!

If the case is that MacLaren is stashing them. I think we are in order to plot an ambush and take them ;D Unless they are shared before a time that will be set here shortly ;)

Oooopppps. Forgot about that. My hunger was speaking for me. :-\ Although I say we still need to check the rules on not sharing the booty ;D
I think the by laws state that Landsharks must share the booty if there are other Landsharks present... Giving first pick to Bonnie, QOE and Captain Taffy, of course, but not hoarding, of course!!!
So I guess we'd better let him answer the charge... before we charge... eh???
Oh MacLaren... we have something to ask you.... !
Does it say how long they have to answer before we can charge?
Ummmm... I'm sure there's probably something in there about waiting until after regular mundane work hours... benefit of the doubt, and all that...

No cheeseburgers under the kilt, but check away! ;)

Okay, ladies... hand check before kilt check... and MacLaren seems to be waiting! Who's first???
(ands how often does one stand still for what could possibly be a really long line??? What a good sport, eh?)
The best kilt checks are the "surprise" checks, but I'll gladly stand for any lass curious enough to find out!
Ummm... maybe I'd better just confess that I've never actually performed a kilt check... and all my collecting is done with a camera! LOL

As is said....there's no time like the first.........
Now I've gotten myself into the same hole as you! Cameras are fine, just get the flashbulb warm! Or, I'd be proud to accept a proper check, and I'll play "nice". ;D

LOL No worries... foot-in-mouth seems to be my perpetual state these days, and I'm quite adept at getting it in there all by my lonesome!!! (It's just less ridiculous looking if you're standing there with someone in a similar predicament...!)

ROFL
Sorry, MacLaren, for getting you hopes up like that! I've already promised my first kilt check to someone, though, and even a virtual check is more than I can manage under those circumstances! Ummm... I think you might find several willing... participants... over in the S&S thread, though!!! LOL

Please let me know if you find one. I have a frequent problem of speaking/typing and once it is out then I think. So frequent foot in the mouth is a common problem. During work hours I promise to be there with foot in mouth with you.
I blame my foot in mouth on a curse! The same one who made me do limericks and puns and burst into song! As curses go- not too bad- but inconvienent at times! LOL!

Long Time no post here!! Happy New Year and Phins Forever UP
Much fun and booty for all the Landsharks in the New Year! rum too! YO HO!
Let's hear it for booty! Phins WAY Up on this one!
I totally second that one. My Phins are WAY up. ;D
Whew!!! It's colder than Davey Jones' locker out!! There's something to be said about being inside where it's warm. Did I hear something about booty? Is it warm and cooperative? :o
Warm and cooperative booty??? Beats cold and combative, I guess, but what kind of treasure gets warm and cooperative??? Exactly what kind of gems would it contain?? Would it lead you to it instead of making you follow a map?
Oh yeah, it's fairly cold here, also... maybe I need to do a little treasure hunting, too...? ;)
Held in properly firm, but gentle hands all booty, er, treasure, warms. All true treasure lets you know how to find it, the trick is to.....can't give all the secrets away, now can I? ;D
Oh no fair! :( And here I thought we shared a moment at the party on NYE... you probably don't even remember whispering in my ear, though... (sigh)
And you won't even share this little secret with me... :'( Even though I could probably use a little warm and cooperative booty er, treasure... more than anyone else you could name!!!
If I ever whispered in anyone's ear, I'd remember yours. Wait, I do remember!
Part of finding the best booty, er, treasure, is to never, EVER play fair! I think we may be in the same proverbial boat. If our ships cross paths, maybe that could be remedied? ;)
Oh but you did... however, perhaps I should remind you of the circumstances... You were holding the phone at the time, I was on the other end, and you were barely holding yourself upright... LOL
I believe you had been having quite a lot of fun just recently (since it was about 12:15am), and you mentioned you were hoping to have company when you went out to sleep in the backseat!!! ::)
I'll have to keep your proposition in mind, in case I'm ever in your neck of the... harbor. I think I need a bit of a corrupting influence, anyway, since I tend to go for the fair play first and think of the personal gain only later. Maybe I need some pillage and plunder practice?!? It's about time I got a little booty treasure... for myself!
Question is... am I pirate enough to keep it all for myself, or will I play fair and share...?
Oh, I remember, dear. Believe me I remember.
I seem to remember being half carried inside around 3, and definitely woke up alone. Damned Scotch, after something sweet(Loki?), after champagne, after beer, after Scotch, after beer got me.
Ah, but you miss one thing about pirates. Playing "fair" isn't in the "code", but between pirates(two, anyway), sharin' is a must. Pillagin' can be quite the adventure! Don't let yer mind go where the typing just went.......it just doesn't sound right typed out. It sounded better rattlin' 'round the dustbowl.
At least you made it to midnight!!! Zaubon didn't even think you would be able to hold the phone!!! ROFL
I think I could be up for a little adventure sometime soon! It's been far too long... So, there seems to be a lot to remember about all this pillagin' an' plunderin' stuff! Maybe I need an instructor?
These bones were going from 5AM as usual. Rack time is typically early, so making Midnight is a feat for sure!
Instructin'? Hmm, not sure I'd be the best at teachin' the pillagin' an' plunderin', but the adventurin' would sure be fun sometime!
LOL I'm fairly well up on all the adventurin' techniques (remind me to tell you some of those stories sometime!), but maybe there's something I can learn from you about booty er, treasure?!? Like this handling technique for warming it... what's up with that???
ROFL!!!
I wouldn't want to go to me quarters without tellin' ye I must get a bit o' rest. I'd be happy to show you how to warm the, uh......later. It requires instruction.
Anyway, there's a bit o' loot to be had at dawn, and any good captain leads the charge into piratin'!
There better be rum and cheeseburgers or there'll be Hell to pay!
Full sails and fair seas everyone!
PHINS UP!!!
Wouldn't want to be bleary or anythin' on the morrow, eh???
Pleasant plunderin' dreams to ye, mate! Keep the booty treasure warm!!!

Yes, the key word is "yet"
Dont try and cover your rear now.
I'm sure ifn' 'is rear was ahangin' out yesterday I woulda' noticed!!! Nothin' more 'n a little booty talk, and what's that amongst pirate mates, eh???
ROFL!!!
Besides, it was our own dear queen what mentioned booty to begin with yesterday, wishin' it ta' all 'o us, and I was just tryin' ta' figure out how, as a pirate, I would go about acquiring a bit o' said booty, tha's all!!! MacLaren was simply trying to help out a... fellow pirate, in his own helpful way...
Yea', tha's wot happened...!!!
You dont have to go blamin our dear queen for your adventure. I'm sure the corruption existed with out need of prompting :)
But oh aint it fun ;D
I'm on the books for a bit o' fun, soon! It's been far too long since I had any, and it's my turn!!! ;D I've been building up credits lately (a lot!!!), and now I'm just about ready to spend them, but I'd like to make sure I'm gettin' me money's worth first, don'tcha know??? :P
Then I would say more investigating is in order.
Isn't it in keeping with the Canon of St. Jimmy that Changes in Attitudes and Lattitudes are a necessary part of piratin'? A quick glance at the Letter of Marque indicates that a cut off the top of all booty - treasure - is to go our Faire Queene or your Commodore Saltwater - just sayin!
LOL LOTS more, I'm thinkin'... LOL
Now Mistress Taffy, how would that rule translate to... intangible... booty? You know, those things which can't be easily divided (or even handed over whole)? Things like cheeseburgers and margaritas are easy to share, but some things could be damaged by such handling! And there are still other things which might not appeal to either the Commodore or our lovely Queen... what of those things???
There's booty and then there's booty. While some booty - & booty - may be better aged, like rum and Alan Rickman, your average cheeseburger does not withstand the test of time so well, so have at!
Now booty on the other hand is every Orderer for themselves!
Well, that being clarified, I guess it's just left to determine exactly what sort of "booty" we're talking about, then, eh???
(this could get interesting really quick!!!)
Last I checked it was both. But I'm lost in what I'm supposed to be doing at work, so I might be lost here to...
* Where's that map at? I need directions *
Well, now, since I put Alan Rickman in the category of booty, I think we can come to the understanding that booty in italics means yummy, droolable, hawt on legs, leaving each Orderer to their own idea of perfect booty, with the further understanding that sometimes perfect means what's - available.
Booty (non-italicized) is material and may be even better than booty (can you say chocolate?).
Well, I'm going to have to reserve personal judgment on the italicized booty... but I think I have the general idea... LOL Perhaps we need a few more examples of it, though, eh???
I'm guessin' the chocolate better be presented for portioning, eh, but anyonething that could melt the chocolate from a few feet away is mine to keep, if I so chose?!?
Since we're talking about idealized booty, may I suggest we post a picture or video of our objet du desire? Keep it clean, folks! To begin, I give you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7A_bJFZNXE
Well... this is something I wouldn't leave layin' on the pile...
That would definitely be comin' back to the ship wi' me (for a good while, anyway)!!! ;D :P ;)
Quick! The smelling salts - I feel vapourish!
Perhaps ye need ta' be loosenin' yer stays, Commodore??? Get a little o' th' breath back in yer...!
Tis' a powerful image, aye! Sets the heart ta' racin' an' the blood ta' boilin', that it does!!! And can you imagine that aloft in the riggin'?!? What a gift, any time o' th' day... :o ;D :P

I notice we've not heard from any of our male counterparts as regards this topic... ::)
C'mon, men, show us yer booty!!! ;)
I would think they felt a bit scared? But if they dont join, more fun for us ;D 8)
I ain't skeerd. I'm right in the middle of this last I checked! ;D
You seem to be talking but not sharing last I checked
There's a little cove north of Hanalei, Kauai, that is my bit of heaven.
My bio-Dad lives one island over.
Spent a bit of time there myself. Only problem was the great big steel ships kept me at sea too much to explore regularly.
Gotta love the great big steel ships. They can create a big bummer on a lot of plans and fun.
Key West of the 80's and early 90's was one of those spots... well, for a vagabond like me, anyway!
I was working all of the summer of 86 in Key West. I loved going down to sunset and hangin' out at Sloppy Joe's. 8)
Hmmmm... wonder if we ever met? I was there in '86... I did sunset every night, it was my money maker, but I spent more time in Tony's, the Hog's Breath or Ricks than in Sloppy's.
What did you do at sunset Rani? I took a lot of pictures there, maybe I could find you in one of them.
I did lots of things... LOL Whatever I thought the tourists would pay to see, or buy! I danced for Pedro, the Conga player, squeezed lemonade for Mike, sold Noodles for the Noodle Man, assisted the slack rope walker with his show, helped the Coconut man weave hats and baskets... more, even, but seldom my own gig. I was too unsettled to take the time to develop my own thing then, so I mostly worked for other people who were already established.
Oh, that winter I also sold dogs for the Hot Dog Man on the street kitty corner from Sloppy's, in front of that little local clothing shop that they turned into a Banana Republic a few years later... I have a voice that can be heard through Friday night partiers at 1am during Fantasy Fest... so I was a natural... LOL
I still have my hat that was made for me while I waited. ;D
Oh, nice!!! Did John (the Coconut Man) make it for you, or was it a dark haired girl around 22 or so?
It was John that made the hat for me Rani.
Ah, well... he really is the expert, although toward the end of that winter mine were basically indistinguishable from his. But I'm sure he is the reason you still have yours after all this time! That's a treasure to keep forever... :)

How many of the Landsharks and Guppys plan to be at Rendevous at MDRF over Labor Day.....Maybe we should find a good "Margaritaville" kind of place for dinner and drinks on Saturday nite.
Huzzah and Phins up
I regret having gotten so caught up in mundane life that I've not taken the time to say hello to all the new Landsharks! :o
I'd sentence myself to a week without any Jimmy Buffet....but I'd never make it, and would consider that cruel and unusual punishment.
Apologies, and greetings to all the new "Sharks that swim on the land!"
Phins up!
Half-baked cookies in the oven
Half-baked people on the bus
There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us

AWWW! Love the Margarita Siamese! He looks like my Tachi!!!
#2 checking in...will be at the Meet and Greet tonight, and at faire all three days for Rendezvous...ROoLs pin is next to the Rendezvous pin on the beret...we are stoked, and shall certainly shoot the ren-curl off the point this weekend. Tube city!!
No. 2 is spreading the love! Membership packages went out to the new Orderers on Tuesday - sorry the gum doesn't have a wrapper. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package. Anyway, I guess I don't have to tell you it's (grapefruit) Juicy Fruit.
Have a nice weekend, Guppies & Sharks! Phins UP!
I just got my package in the mail today! I'm so excited! Now I really can't wait for the KCRF. :)
Thank you so much!
Lord Shadow got his a couple of days ago. Thanks Taffy. Although he was very confused and wanted to know about the gum.
Lady Rebecca, so glad you rec'd it. Have a great time at fair!
I FINally affixed my FIN to my Captains Coat where it proudly sits on my collar. WOOHOO
Landshark #18
LandShark in the house testifyin'! Juicy Fruit all around aaaand Phins UP!
WooT!!! I'd like to mention that there's a new Guppy in the Order, inducted during AHE at TRF! My own renlet, Naia Zemirah, is the newest Guppy to grace our decks, and I'm happy to report that the very first song she ever heard her mama sing, and the one she prefers to fall asleep to still, is "A Pirate Looks at 40" by our own dear saint Jimmy... (can I get a Huzzah?)! :D
Huzzah to the new guppy !
That is great Rani. :)
Good gravy! I've been so addlepated that I neglected to add to the Rolls:
Guppy No. 113, Naia Zemirah (not only a LandShark, but also a Sky Pirate!)
Landshark No. 114, Ulfric
Welcome aboard & Phins UP!
Welcome, Ulfric!!! Huzzah!!!
Phins UP!!!
Welcome!! Huzzah!! Phins Up!!
I had my phin on the collar of my Captain's Coat all season this year and there were MANY people who wondered about it. I explained the LS to them and they all got a giggle out of it ;)
Landshark #18
PurpleDragon, thanks for *representing* the LandSharks. It always tickles me when the Orderers wear their Phin with pride - and a healthy sense of humor.
Phins UP!
Would any of the Shiver like to get together one evening at RenDezvous? I can promise St. Jimmy tunes & have a Frozen Concoction maker that is feeling neglected!
I might be able to find a free (or at least borrowed) hour or two, since it's going to be just flat out one event after another... LOL I'd love to get together and lift a couple, although I'll have my renlet with me, so it can't get much more crazy than that for me! :o
I discovered Pineapple Rum during AHE, and I'd be willing to bet it could be made into all sorts of yummy Frozen Concoctions!!! Been a while since I've had a chance to pray to Saint Jimmy... :P :D
It's still up in the air as to whether or I not I'll be able to attend. I may be making attempts to go to some other steamy events as I had such a good time at WindyCon. Also, I'm sure I'll be spending some $$$ in late March when ComicPalooza and Phil Foglio open in Houston.
Braggart!!! LOL That's one I truly wish I could attend!!! I hope you decide on Scarby, though, because I would really love to spend a bit more time with you, and I think 3 days should be enough for us to find some time to sit and chat, right?!? :D
I plan to go to renndevous!
I also wore my Phin to TRF! It is on my pouch!
See you there!
I love coconut rum- over ice!

Mom and I will be at RenDezvous, too. We'd love to meet up. Now, to find the salt! :)
BTW, we also wear our phins proudly.
All this flavored rum. Coconut or pineapple rum, hmmm... Can't decide which is better. Maybe mix them together. Pina colada is one of my favorite frozen drinks! ;)
It's up in the air as to whether or not I'll be attending RendDezvous. *fingers crossed*
But all this talk of RUM has gotten me to thinking (dangerous, I know) about rum, boat drinks, and rum. So --
What's your favorite sippin' rum: (Pyrate)
Mixing rum: Black cherry (w/diet coke), among others
Favorite rum drink: (Mai Tai)
Favorite rum drink recipe:
1-1/2 oz light rum
1/2 oz dark rum
1/4 oz orgeat syrup
1/4 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz triple sec
juice of 1/2 - 1 lime (depending on the size & juiciness of said lime)
Shake w/ice; strain over fresh rocks. This is an A1 special MaiTai & better than 90% of the MaiTai's I enjoyed in Hawaii.
I discovered Vanilla rum this season of TRF. Mmmm, good!
Black cherry sounds really good. I really enjoy cherry Coke.
CaptMorgan Private Stock is pretty sippable. :)

CaptMorgan Private Stock is pretty sippable. :)
So is Bacardi Select. That's what I keep in my flask. Makes a great Cuba Libre'.
A Hurricane will set me on the party path every time!!!
Hurricane Cocktail Recipe
1 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
3 ounces dark rum
1 ounce light rum
4 ounces passion fruit syrup
Crushed ice
Orange and/or lime slice
1 Maraschino Cherry
In a cocktail shaker, add lemon juice, rum, passion fruit syrup, and crushed ice; shake vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes and then strain into a tall glass or hurricane glass.
Garnish with an orange and/or lime slices and a maraschino cherry.
Makes 1 serving.
Alternatively, there a drink called a Lazy Conch that was invented in Key West for a contest, beach party at the Holiday Inn beach, thrown by our favorite Captain many years ago as a promo...
Lazy Conch
2 oz. Captain Morgan's Spiced rum
2 oz. Welch's white grape juice
Shake over ice, then strain into martini glass. Garnish with skewered green grapes. Yum!!!
If neither of those are available, then either a frozen daiquiri or simply rum mixed with fruit juices will work just as well. I'm not really big on sipping rum, but I do have to admit that the Pyrates I got to try at TRF was pretty smooth, although the Cruzan pineapple rum I discovered was incredibly sippable!!!

Come to think of it, I've had rum (and other spirits) with just about ever juice imaginable, but for some strange reason never with grape juice. This is really odd considering I usually have a bottle of white grape juice in the fridge. :)

Oh, you should definitely try it... it's soooo Teh Y.U.M!!!
It may be a little bit early, although I think it is NEVER to early to party, let me wish all of me fellow Landsharks a very, VERY Merry Christmas and a FAN-PIRATE_TASTIC New Year!!!
And I still like a good Mojito! And Pyrat rum makes a GREAT Bumbo! And if you are any where near "Port" Worth on New Year's Eve . . . let me know!
Blackbead
For RENdezvous, I don't know if anyone's volunteered, but I'll happily bring along Sir. Jimmy's Boats Beaches Bars & Ballads!
Oh an odd yet DELICOUS recipe (I stole it from my brother- a fellow Guppy!)
Mountain Dew (He prefers Mello Yello) + Pineapple Parrot Bay Rum = HEAVEN!
I want to welcome Ulfric and Tammy to the fray. I will try to get your phin and Letters of Marque out to you in the next month or so.
I regret that I will no longer be able to send out the phin and Letters after these last two. But I will be glad to enter new folks into the Big Pink Rolodex of Doom.
Finally, St. Jimmy will be performing in the Woodlands, Texas on 5/20. Hope to see you there. Once again, welcome to our newest members. Phins UP!
Awww... wish I could make it down for that!!! It's been far to many years since I've seen him in person...
Welcome Ulfric and Tammy!!!
PHINS UP!!! :D
Me too! I don't drive in Houston- or Austin either. have Fun taffy!!
Welcome Ulfric and Tammy!
Just thought I would drop in and say Phins UP! Hope everyone is well...I seem to have missed out on a lot during my most recent hiatus from the internet...
Jimmy Buffett's coming to town in May! Sadly I has no job so I debated going.... THEN I found a Pirate Parrot Hat! I think I have to get the hat and go now! :D
Everyone needs a bit of fun now and then! A hat and Jimmy Buffet! Wow!

DO IT! My shark hat is in storage, so I'll have to rustle up another one. My mom knows exactly where her cheeseburger hat, t shirt, & margarita mardi gras beads are.
Phins UP!
Yay!!!! Phins Up!!!!
#2 reporting in...the sun is out again, so barrel rolling may be in order!
Why am I craving cheeseburgers?
OHHH Jimmy is comin' and me with nothing but an old Buffet tye dye shirt to wear... Wish I was going... wore my shirt today...Parrot heads unite!
What I'm craving is just a little bit of paradise... Some sun, sand, maybe a frozen concoction or two. I was supposed to be headed to Florida at the end of this week, but finances and the vagaries of life have sent me in another direction, instead. No surf, but I'll be in the Memphis area, so I'm sure I'll be able to find a little rock-n-roll somewhere...
Phins UP!!!
Ahoy, Landsharks!
Here be one scurvy ol'seadog that is headed for a week in Charleston, SC! I'm contacting a restaurant out there called The Buccaneer and plan on taking a few of me crew and doing some pirate poetry! If, that is, they don't try to throw us out of the place. If that happens, woe unto the poor lubbers! If anyone is in the Charleston area next week (the week of St. Patrick's Day) drop me a line and we'll meet up for a green beer or two!
Dorsals Dry!

Ah, y'all make me so proud of my little circle of sharks. It's finally Friday - frozen concoctions all 'round. PHINS UP!
If ya get a chance, head out to the new Jimmy Buffett concert tour. My mom & I went last night and the margaritas were cold and the music was hot. Lots of fun.
As much fun as it was, it was - I'm sorry to say - my last concert at that particular venue. Neither one of us could get comfortable and it's too an expensive a night to sit out in the vendors' area, which is what we ended up doing.
I'll try to remember to post when they do their live concerts on internet radio. Phins UP, Landsharks!
WooT!!! Saint Jimmy in da house!!!
I found a Landshark t-shirt on sale at wally world yesterday. It even says fins up on the front. ;D
Thanks, Lavender!

Thanks, Dustin! 34/35 - There's one single solitary word that lives in a little black hole in my head.
While umbrella drinks are lovely, it's chilly here tonight & I could go for a nice hot Orehouse.
Freezing rain here tonight, and I'm sipping rum & eggnog laced hot chocolate... ;)
I guess umbrellas are still in order, though, so I can call it a boat drink... lol
Oh Rani! You know Adam would LOVE that. Hes a sucker for eggnog!
It's yummy! Especially when it's made the "right" way... with plenty of RUM!!! Yarrrr!!! :D I recently discovered the joys of using it as a creamer for my coffee, as well, although sans rum, since I usually have coffee in the AM. Of course, that wouldn't be an issue at Faire... ;) lol
My problem with egg nog... carton of nog, bottle of rum, gone..gone. :P
Ewww! Egg nog is NOT a boat drink.
Florida's patron saint, Saint Buffett, would be appalled. :D
Anything that comes out of a chicken doesn't belong in my drink!
More for me! Besides, I've personally heard him say on more than one occasion that "anything with rum in it is better than anything without"!
It's all in the interpretation, I guess, but when there's freezing rain outside, I'd much rather have something warm than something cold... :P :)
Not a fan of nog. I prefer my rum straight- or on the rocks! Scotch too. Anything else is too sweet for me.
Rum so needs fruit juice. Anything dairy is just not right! ;D
Besides, the rum warms you up quick enough.
It works well with so many things, although straight is one way I can't drink it! You're tougher than me, Queen B! ;) heheh I do really like the new(ish) Cruzan Pineapple Rum, though! Yum!
Sorry I prefer Bourbon in my Eggynog!
SQUEEE! Fresh mea ... er ... New members!
First, I apologize for letting life get in the way of properly welcoming Tammy & Ulfric. So without further ado:
Tammy, Guppy No. 114
Ulfric, Landshark No. 115
Merlin the Elder, Landshark No. 116
Lady Nimue, Landshark No. 117
If I get a chance, and can find the blanks, I'll try to get some Phins made. But in the meantime,
Welcome & Phins UP!
It is with the greatest of pride and joy that my dearest Lady Nimue and I have now joined the ranks of the Royal Order of Landsharks!
Phins up to all my new phriends! We shall endeavour to never let any of you down!

Yo Ho to our newest Landsharks and welcome! Group hugs!!! YARRR!
St. Jimmy has been hospitalized in Sydney after falling off the stage. :'( Let's all join together in sending The Man our best wishes for a fast and complete recovery.
– 1 hr 8 mins ago
SYDNEY – Singer Jimmy Buffett fell off a stage at the end of a concert in Sydney and was rushed to the hospital.
Australia's Daily Telegraph reports that audience members saw the 64-year-old fall face first off the stage and hit his head.
Buffett's manager then took the stage and urged fans to leave the auditorium, the Hordem Pavillion.
The singer was brought to Sydney's St. Vincent's Hospital.
Wednesday night's concert was Buffett's fifth and last in Sydney on his current tour.
Welcome to the newest Landsharks.
Dang! That could have been really tragic. He's listed in stable condition at this moment...
Prayers sent... get well soon, Jimmy.
Update:
Saint Jimmy has sent out a message (http://www.buffettinfo.com/front-page-news/2758-jimmy-buffett-posts-video-message-fans.html?utm_source=BuffettInfo.com&utm_medium=facebook#axzz1CLKfJcrn) to all of his loyal followers, letting us all know he is alive and kicking, and he used the magic moving painting box to send it!
Thanks for posting that. Note to Jimmy (and all of us for that matter): Always know where your towel (and feet) are at all times.
PHINS UP!
Ahoy me fellow Landsharks an Guppies!
Guppy #29 here and I'm pleased to say (I tink I am anyways) that in 20 days I'll be be leaving me guppyhood (guppyness? state o' guppy?) behind and joining the ranks o' Landsharks!
On dis special occasion I was wondering iffin I might be able to procure a replacement fin as mine took leave of me hat and is nowhere to be found. Of course I'll be coverin' the cost of such a fine item iffin ye were to let me know what I owes ye.
Fins up!
My Lady Nimue and I would also like ordering instructions for pins, and we shall remit appropriately.
I apologize that I haven't made any new phins & Letters of Marque in a looooong time - time does get away from a person.
Once Debauched & Merlin and Lady Nimue, please send me an RM w/your dane names & mailing addresses and I will do my utmost to scrounge through my "makings" box & get your phins out this week. I'm going to be moving in the next few weeks and my address book is in a box somewhere.

To where are you moving Taffy? Is this the move that you said was a possiblility a few years ago?
Good Luck with the move!
(edited for typos)
Just going down the street. The original move was a couple of years ago, but I've been wanting to move from my current place for quite a while. I'm really looking forward to having some space to spread out a bit. Thanks for the well wishes - I really appreciate it.
YAY!!! Blender space for Boat Drinks!!! ;) :D
I've got the feeling I'm going to need a pitcher - or two - by the time this is all through. However, this weekend the heat really started to crank up and the move is going to be none too soon.
AC is definitely one of the blessings of the modern world! Try not to get too overheated!!!
Moving is two things...exciting and exhausting. Hope your new place is EVERYTHING you hoped for!!!! Good Luck stay drunk....I mean drink lots of water<HEHE>
Thanks - I'm really looking forward to my new digs. And, yes, ac is a modern miracle.
We use evaporative coolers here to add humidity to our homes...otherwise your wood furniture will dry out and split. Never needed that in St. Louis!!
The only good thing I can say about Houston humidity is it does help keep away the wrinkles.
I miss the "swamp coolers" in CO... they usually take less electricity to run than an AC system, and it's always nice to have that little extra bit of humidity after being out in the high desert all day.
What Landsharks #10 and #24 saw....
And that white stuff is sugar sand.
