Is anyone else having trouble having trouble changing or adding their avatar pic? I tried changing mine with an updated photo and all I see now is the ugly red "X" in the ugly red box. :'(
Hello, the path to you image doesn't include a file name. Your path is "http://www.flickr.com/photos/miz_greeneyed_dragon/8391112574/" that appears to be incomplete, it should end with a filename. The path should be something like "http://www.flickr.com/photos/miz_greeneyed_dragon/8391112574/mypicture.jpg". I hope this helps.
Thanks for the info, Tom. I'm not sure how to get a filename added to it :( . Suggestions?
Celtic Lady, the image url is: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8494/8391112574_423abbfb6f_z.jpg (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8494/8391112574_423abbfb6f_z.jpg) ... assuming that is the picture you want. Put that entire address into the field, and you should be good to go.
:) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much, Merlin. You truly are a great wizard.
Yes, Celtic Lady. I am indeed a great wizard. My second-best thing is humility... ::)
And third is comedy... ;)
I'll be here all week!

When I use this link, the profile keeps telling me that the image has been deleted or moved and I know it hasn't.

Doña, when you paste the link into the space provided in your profile, be sure there is a space between
Scarby and
2010. Looking at the code that the forum is returning, the space is missing. The
%20 in the link above is an encoded space. If that is how you are putting it in, you might try replacing the %20 with a plain space and see if that fixes it. The forum software may be trying to re-encode a link that is already properly encoded.
Thanks Merlin - that worked. I'm not sure why the software would try to chamge the link.

Sometimes web-based software will filter out anything it perceives as possibly hazardous code. Code injection is a common attack method of hackers. Sometimes the filters are a little too diligent.
Probably what Merlin said, but my filters are just diligent enough. :)

I looked at your profile and this is what you had for your avatar image:
http://http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w186/rebelliousfrito/Post-July2010/?action-view¤t=100_5682.jpg (http://http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w186/rebelliousfrito/Post-July2010/?action-view¤t=100_5682.jpg)
You'll see that you have "http://" in the address twice. I'm going to remove the extra, and that should solve the problem.
I might be just over looking what I'm doing but I'm trying to put a updated photo of me on here. I tried turning it into a url gif, I took out the extra http://. I keep ending up with it being blank or defaulting to no avatar.
If you have a "?" mark in the link, as in Rosie Nell's link for example, the chances are the link is to a program, and the stuff to the right are parameters being passed to the program. To see if your link is good, you should be able to paste it into the address of your browser and it should display with no page, no descriptions, nothing other than the image itself... i.e., http://www.oldmerlin.com/img/Avatar_08.jpg (http://www.oldmerlin.com/img/Avatar_08.jpg) and you should be good. The link HAS to be directly to an image.
Before uploading, if you don't want to be squeezed or stretched, use an image that is cropped to a square aspect ratio, like 300x300 pixels. There may be an upper limit on the size for this forum to handle, but I've put up some that are 300 - 400 pixels square without issue.
that might be the problem.. I think I just have to get photobucket back up and load it there. cause my last pic worked from there. I'll give it a try.
Thanks.
I seem to be having issues getting my avatar to work. Here's the link, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Yes... you've specified a URL to a page, not an image. cut/paste this into the field:
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/207/a/2/1010361_535375379844745_422511470_n_by_bogle_made_photos-d6favu6.jpg (http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/207/a/2/1010361_535375379844745_422511470_n_by_bogle_made_photos-d6favu6.jpg)
