This is right close to my Home in Corry, PA.  Went last year, it was fun but small.  I was just checking out thier web sight and it looks to be growing a bit this year.  I'll be there opening weekend, not sure yet if I'll be there both days or just Sunday though.

I've been out helping them get set up for the past two weekends.  It is starting to shape up.  It is still very small, but they have a cast put together and there is an ongoing show through out the day.  There will be a black smith there a few days from what I understand.  There is an interactive story stage for the kids.  This is a great group of people and it promises to be a fun season.  Hope to see some of you there.

They made it through the first weekend with a fare showing 20 patrons the first day and about 26 the second day.  They have 2 shows, a pirate show and a magic show, both a good shows.  There are also about 10 vendors and 2 food stands.  The cast is a lot of fun and interacts well with eachother and the patrons at the faire. It is still very small, but is a fun faire.  Really need some people to come though.  Next weekend is Pirate weekend.

I'll look forward to seeing you and getting to know you in person.  I just got my R/F pin so I will be wearing it, My husband also will be there and wearing his pin.  Bring as many people as you can with you the faire really needs a lot of support if it is to continue.

There was a Celtic music group added this weekend.  The magic show continues.  For any one familiar with Porter and Stout, the magician is Vinny (Porter) and his assistant is Jenny.  They are very entertaining to watch, and it is a very interactive show with a lot of audience participation.  The pirate comedy show is Live From the Pirate Isles, and they are fun to watch as well.  There is  new act being added next weekend, an Acapella singing group that does the more adult faire songs.  Did not catch the name, but they are friends of Vinny and Jenny.
This up coming weekend is SCA weekend, and on Saturday there will be a door prize of a Knife/dagger that the sword vendor is donating, you can sign up to win it at the gate.  There will be at least one door prize each of the 4 remaining faire days.   For the dagger you must be 18.  For all prizes the drawing will be held at the pub sing and you must be present to win.  With the additional shows being added though it is easy to spend 4 or 5 hours at the faire now.  Also the SCA will be set up this weekend with some information and demonstrations.  Hope to see some of you there.

Hey there!  We are Nevaron (folks in the green) and the name of our band is "Ar Eigean Gael".  Matt (our lead singer) is good friends with Jen and Vinnie.  It was our first weekend there and we had a ball!  The cast members had me laughing throughout the day.  The Faire in general (I thought) was warm and inviting.  It was fun to walk around and see the various skits going on.  The younger crowd did an excellent job.  We loved watching them dance around as we were playing.  I am going to advertise as much as I can for these next few weekends.  Huzzah to Jessica, her husband and everybody who helped out to make the Faire a success!

Thank you SueB, I had no Idea how to spell the name of your group.  You were wonderful to listen to this weekend and having musical accompaniment added so much to the pub sing.  Hope you continue to enjoy your time at the faire for the next few weeks.

Each weekend the attendance has improved.  This weekend will be a bit of a test with the colder weather.  Hope the steady increase continues.  Sorry you won't be able to make it TiaLD77.  Would have enjoyed meeting you.  Perhaps next weekend, or with any luck next year It will continue.  They have grown some this year and had increased attendance.  Will have to see how the end of the year numbers come out to see if their is some money in the bank to go again next year.

I have had a great time at the Wild Rose Faire these last couple weeks.

I am Matt from Ar Eigean Gael

Looking forward to the last weekend, I will be playing without the band as a couple members couldn't make it for the last weekend. I am really hoping that they will continue.

The Faire is about 2 1/2 hours from three major cities, so if you are from Buffalo, Cleveland or Pittsburgh, come check out this small but fun Faire before they close for the season. The last weekend is Italian Carnivale weekend!

More photos from this past weekend are finally up.  This is the final weekend.  It has been so much fun.  I really like Great Lakes, and enjoyed the Ohio Renaissance faire as well this year, but it is also very nice going to this small faire because you get a chance to interact with all of the performers and cast and get a chance to get to know some of them.  The bigger faires are much busier and there is not as much time for the small things. I hope that it does grow, but that it does not loose the comfortable and friendly atmosphere that it has.

The season is done for the year.  It has been a lot of fun.  The weather was not good the last 2 weekends and numbers were really down because of it.  306 for the season most of which were in the first 2 weekends with almost half of the attendance in week 2.  There are plans at this time to continue next year.  When details are known I'll start posting.

Sight preparation for this year has begun.  We will be holding the faire the first three weekends in October this year.  From the 3rd to the 18th.  We have begun planting some trees and flowers to try to make the grounds look nicer, and hopefully in a few years have a little shade.  Just wanted to post and let everyon know that the faire will be up and running again this year so anyone who wishes to pay us a visit can put it into your faire calender.

Well in spite of the rain, mud and yes even snow we survived the 2009 season, finishing off with a rather interesting weekend in the upstairs of the Barn 8).  Next year the faire will be the first 3 weekends in June.  Hoping for warmer and dryer weather.  Hope to see you all there.

This will be the wife and I first trip to your faire and we are looking forward to it. Only a two hour trip to your location and from what I have seen it looks well worth it. We have settled on the first first weekend, as I feel it is only right, after everything that my wife had to put up with me these past few months. (I'm a cancer survivor) Attending Ren Faires is one of the things that have helped keep my Spirit up so I am happy you moved the dates. Look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

We have some really awesome shows this year.  It has been a good year of growth for the faire.  I have seen some familiar faces over the past two weekends and hope to see a few more next weekend.  We have several vendors and Entertainment to keep you buisy through out the day.  We also have an awesome food vendor that makes great Turkey legs and scotch eggs.  Come on out and see us for a day.

Just want to say we went to your Faire this year and enjoyed it. I was unable to stay for the whole thing, (Recovering from cancer treatment and was still getting my strength back) but I enjoyed what I was able to see. While my home faire is Sterling we plan on making this Faire part of our yearly plans. My daughter lives in Jamestown and I have already talked to her about going with us next year. She has never been to one and she is excited. I look forward to watching your faire grow over the years. Thanks for an entertaining day, it took my mind off from my recovery and I would dare say even helped.

So glad you had a good time and are planning to come again and bring your family with you.  Many of the same acts will be returning next year and we are hoping to have a few new ones as well as more vendors.  We look forward to your return.  The faire will once again be the first 3 weekends in June.

Perhaps I can arrange a Sterling invasion. By that time we should all be well into the later stages of Ren withdraws. Your faire will be a lifeline.

Thought it was time to give this thread a little bump. After all it is almost one month to opening. Have made plans to show up opening weekend with my wife, my daughter and her fiancee. The wife and myself are both EMT's and my daughter's fiancee is a firefighter so that means my daughter will be the most expensive one. (LOL) Looking forward to a good time.
PS Your flyer pdf link isn't working.
PSS can we get a list of performers. Loved the ones you had last year and hope they all return.

Enjoyed the Plunder Dogs and we are happy to see Live from the Pirate Isles back. Have some good pics of them. No Shattered Shakespeare? lol  Only going to make the first day, but it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. I give the entire production cast high marks for what you have done with this faire. As I have said in other posts I look forward to seeing you grow over the years. If I didn't live so far I would love to be a part. For now I will support you by coming and spending my money. And my daughters Money. And my wife's money. And the cat's.
Title: Re: Wild Rose Renaissance Faire
Post by: Rahne on May 03, 2011, 04:25:28 PM
lol, don't tell the cat.  We may have Shattered Shakespeare they guys who do it have not been able to get together much over the winter months so they were not sure they would be ready to do it for us.  There will be an opening gate show this year and an actual story line.  Joan of Arc is the theme, though it is very loosely done and intended to be humorous.  Faire opens at 11 am and closes at 6 pm.  We will also have an organised Pub sing.  Look forward to seeing you.

No fair Rahne. We only planed for opening weekend. Now see what you have done, we need to come up with another excuse not to work on the roof and go to faire instead. Hmmmmm wonder if the wife would mind a big umbrella over the dinning room table.

Lol, I'm sure it will be fine, life should never interfere with faire after all.  We tried to book all three weekends, but we are too close to The dates for TN where he is now and the turn around was too quick.  Besides we would love to see you for two weekends.  ;)

We would love to come for all three actually, but alas I had to put off doing the roof last year (That nasty minor inconvenience of recovering from cancer and all. Wildrose being one of the big part of my recovery as it was one of my goals) So we will do opening weekend. If lucky maybe make closing weekend. Of course if it looks like it will rain we may show up the second weekend. After all a rainy day at Faire beats a hot day on the roof. By the way checked the weather for next weekend and it is looking good.

The Viking Home Companion,  fun stories of going viking
The Hanged Man interactive game for the kids
Flying Carpet Tales, tell stories and have pupets and costumes for the kids to dress up in and play with

The first weekend was lots of fun, even if Mother Nature tried to change the theme to the Wizard of Oz. We had a great time and I thought the cast did a wonderful job. The only thing is this loyal subject to the crown of England was disappointed that we didn't have a good old fashion witch burning. I do have to respect a man that honorers his word and I would have fought for her. That day. lol
Good job and I am hoping we can make it for last day.

We all have had a fine time at this faire. I would highly recommend this to anyone. They may be a small faire, but they have lots going on; great cast, great vendors and great shows. The cast and performers make you feel like family. If anyone can make it next year I would suggest you go, I know we will be there.

Thanks so much.  We loved having you and your family visit our festival.  We had a pretty good run.  It was our first year with a human chess match and many of our cast were first year faire cast.  Some of them were also fairly new to combat, all in all it went very well with only a few very minor injuries.  We had our wrap up meeting for the season today, and will begin planning for next year next month.  We greatly appreciate you support and interest in our festival and look forward to seeing you and your family next hear.  Hip Hip Huzzah!
