Title: Austin ARRG- July 26th
Post by: Queen Bonnie on June 16, 2008, 03:47:28 PM
I am going to be brave and have the July Austin Renn Rat Gathering ( ARRG) here at Meow Manor again. July 26 from Noon to 11PM.
Bring- Chairs, Coolers, bathing suits, towels.
Bring your own booze or beverage.  Food to share.
( I will need a table for food too- if someone has an extra they can bring. )

We will have Burgers and fixings on the grill- like last year.
Working on the Entertainment. So far we have William Toohey on the Irish Bagpipes! Spread the word! Pass the hat is fine.

Please sign up and let me know you are coming and what you will bring to share.
We need Salads,
Appetisers,
Finger food ,
Cookies
PLEASE only ONE cake this year! Last year we must have had 20 cakes!  They did not get eaten.
No MSG. I am allergic to it. Or if you use it- let me know.

This is an Adult party. Teens welcome - if I know them- and with parental supervision.

!!!***** PLEASE! No touching of any buttons in the house or garage. Last year someone fooled with the buttons and it froze up my electrical system for weeks.  No one knows how to fix the system I have.
I don't want the Nargle infestation of problems this year****!!!!!

No glass around the pool. It hurts to step on broken glass barefoot. Ouch!!!
Smoking outside only please. I will have receptacles for butts.

If you bring something and it is leftover- PLEASE take it home with you.
*****We will also need more help with clean up this year.*****
I will have trash cans. Empties belong there, Please?

Join us in the fun. We will all lift a glass to Lord A. Maybe it will be cooler in July? LOL!

Ideas and suggestions welcome!
Sign up here.....

I know that I am not an Austin rennie, but if you'll have me, I plan to be at July's ARRG!

Still considering what I can make that'll be easy to put together the morning of at Cassidy and O'Riley's house.

Sounds like we need a Houston area carpool. I have only room for one passenger in the faire van.

Okay McLotofus, I don't think we have firm schedule for July. Shall we invade ARRG? We've already had two of the auxiliaries express and interest/desire.

Queen Bonnie, Sir Jerrick Rayfe and I will be bringing that bean dip that i made for you the last time we were there, we also have an extra folding table that we will bring with us. It is one of the long serving tables. Also, I will be toting Eloquent to the ARRG with me. She and I are going to make some home made sugar cookies (hopefully).

I also have the ability to go to Costco and pick up items in Bulk, such as plates, napkins, cups, and plastic wear (also trash bags). Please let me know if you need me to gather these up and bring them along as well. :)

I can not wait! So excited! Would you like us there early to help set up?

There's a good possibility that I'll be over visiting Lynn & Paul that weekend.  If I make it to the ARRG, what can I bring from HEB there in Elgin?  (or maybe a Pie from City Cafe?)

Hey there Queen Bonnie...count on the 3 bunch from McDade....we can bring a couple of Foreman Grills and some vegie sandwich fixins to make some wraps...does that work? ;)

Huzzah! Glad you can come. I have a huge gas grill. Veggie wraps would be great!
Do Foreman ones plug in? Counter space will be at a minimum.
Only 2 more weekends until the ARRG.

If inside counter space is scarce, I can bring a GFCI protected heavy duty extension cord, to allow the Foreman Grills to be used outside on a table.  (I'll need access to a Grounded AC Outlet for the GFCI to work correctly.)

The Pie from City Cafe has been ordered.  It's one of their Chocolate Icebox Pies - and I'm going to have sliced fresh strawberries to stick in the whipped cream on top of it.  ;D

I don't think we will need extra grills. Did you see the size of mine? It was made by Lockheed!  But I have extension cords and a GFI plug- my pond pump is plugged in there and a cement picnic table outside.
Huzzah to pie and chocolate. Yummy!Refrigerator space is also limited- but I will save a slot for that pie!  Thanks David!
  Bring coolers and ice- folks!

...

Is there a way to evenly heat the Veggie Panini sandwiches on your grill without burning the Pita / Flatbread?  Using a Foreman Grill, you just roll the Veggies, and Cheese (if you want), in the bread and then "clamp" it between the two jaws of the grill to heat.

That is my plan as of now.  Not sure what I will be bringing food wise.
I will not be in garb as I have winter garb and it is much too hot.  So everyone bring your sun shades as I will be sporting shorts and my fishbelly white legs a showin'.

*****************Reminders and Suggestions*************************
Please heed the instructions in Queen Bonnie's original post. I will explain:

This is a HUGE party. Last year, Queen Bonnie, Ambard and I began setting up at around 8:30 or 9am and the cleanup for this thing lasted until 2am, and wasn't actually finished, even then, and even with a few helpful souls pitching in.

Just because I'm anal, I would like to re-iterate a few of Queen Bonnie's requests, also. Touch not the buttons on the panel in the hall! These are full of nargles, and I assure you, were the cause of much grief and suffering last year. The electrical system at Meow Manor is mystical and run by very temperamental little gnomes. Do not anger them. If you bring something, and there are leftovers, feel free to offer them to other attendees, but if you get no takers, please, TAKE YOUR LEFTOVERS WITH YOU! It was a daunting task last year to sort leftovers and figure out what to do with them, especially exhausted and sunburned at 2am.

OK, enough of that. It looks like we need some: condiments, disposable food ware (plates cups napkins, forks, etc), buns, cheese, and maybe some more sides? Bonnie, let me know if we DON'T need some of this stuff or if we DO need other things. Also, feel free to sign up for the cleanup crew! We had some tentative volunteers but I didn't want to put anyone down without certainty.

This is Ginette's other half.  I shall be there as well and we will have a couple of large briskets.  We will also have a large table, cutting board, knives, and a canopy (if we need it).  Sign us up for a cooler of ice also.  In addition, if we don't appear to have enough sides, let me know, I'll throw together some roasted potatos as well, just ren-mail Ginette.

I believe that Bill will also be attending and we will try to bring some fresh veggies for burgers and some ice. If I have a late night sitter I will definitely be down for clean up as well.

See you on the inside...

I'll try to remember to grab a cooler on the way out when I leave next week.

I'm still not sure what I'm bringing but...I bet Element and I could stop so I could pick up a couple packages of buns on the way out to Meow Manor Saturday morning. Are buns still needed?

ok, look, guys - have you ever tried to use the table utility on these forums? There is no way to add the gridlines via html, even though the table code itself is in html. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've tried every method of css and html to add flags to the table tags. Sorry if I'm off a bit here and there. It will be fixed. At least there is a list of who will be there and what will be brought. It's not the end of the world if one column is off, it's easily fixed. Editing now.

[edit:] Molden, you ARE bringing dragon eggs - it says so next to your name. Did you think I would get that wrong? mmm. dragon eggs. Burgers and rolls is next to Moon)Dawg's name. I fixed the other issue with the plasticware.

If it still looks wrong, please maximize your browser window. Putting table arrangements on forums is not an exact science, but I didn't have time to make an entire July AARG website of my own. It looks right to me in both Firefox and Internet Explorer with the window maximized. If not, just look at the lists separately. The trouble is basically that the forums are what they call "fluid" and tables are what they call "fixed" in case anyone wants to learn about web standards. Because the table is posted in a "fluid" frame (i.e. the forums) when you squish the browser window, it squishes the text inside the posts too. That's why when browser windows are not maxed, or *perhaps* if your monitor is set to a smaller resolution, the table won't line up in here. I just thought a table would work better for frequent editing - like when ppl decided what they were bringing, but apparently I was wrong. Next time I'll just do it line by line.

We still need volunteers for KP duty!

Bacardi! I will miss you SO much!

Okay, things I am certain I can bring:

4ft heavy folding table
Big cooler with ice
Cheese for burgers

Other things I'll let you know later today (Thursday) when I check the HEB/Wally World to see what I can afford.

Is anyone bringing cutting knives/are they being provided?

Spices? Garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, cumino, cayenne, red pepper, cajun seasoning, greek seasoning? (I know some has MSG, I would have to check the labels)

I can probably clean out Wally World's supply of day old Bollo rolls (10/$1.5 each); what's the feeling on that?

I can probably provide a water cooler of gatorade/powerade (buy the powdered stuff) if needed. Anything else that you can think of that a well traveled, disorganized bachelor might have in stock, such as a hammock or a dinner fly (sure about the tarp, not so sure about the poles (have plenty of line))? I'll be coming in a Forester, so there is a little bit of room.

Ahh,  my dear Queen,

I just encountered your Gnomes...they were infesting my internet for a while, and I didn't know of the gathering. Just up and going again, and I may be able to get your way early on Saturday. Coming from Houston, I'll leave VERY early.

If there is a group of people that wish to ride with me, I'm capable of carrying extras in a rather large carriage that plays good music. A small contribution to the horses would be appreciated, however....they get thirsty, after all.

My carriage can carry plenty of cargo as well. If anyone has extra tables or large things needing transport, I've got plenty of room.

I have a couple of coolers, and for you, my Queen, I'll bring gifts for you personally!

If I can scratch up enough donations for my thirsty horses, and a few little green pieces of paper from work, I'll be there with kilt on!

Anybody can renn-mail me if they want to ride along!

Okay.......

enough cheese (swiss, provolone, chedder) to cover 200 burgers
3.5 liters of hamburger pickles
105 various types of rolls
114 oz of ketchup
2 lbs of cheese crackers
enough gatorade for 5 gallons (may have to mix a flavor for the final gallon)
5 gallon cooler
chest cooler
heavy 4 ft table

I hope there is a water source as I am planning to move the coolers only with ice in them.

That should do it ......... elephant stew is never popular this time of year.

How to make elephant stew
Ingredients: one meduim size elephant
100 lbs of mixed vegetables
100 gallons of fresh water
2 rabbits (extra)

Take the  elephant and cut it up into bite size pieces. This should take about two months. Mix the elephant and vegetables in large vat and cook at 450 degrees for about 12 hours.

This should feed about 500 people. Two rabbits can be added if more people are expected, but this is not recommended since most people do not like to find hares in their stew.

My dear Queen Bonnie,

It is with the deepest regret that I must pass on the following announcement;
Lord Vandor, The Purple Dragon and his better half, the Lovely Lady Amalphia, will be unable to attend this gathering and shall be stuck in the Port of Humble due to the coffers being a bit on the low side. While we truly hoped to be able to make the trek from our home to yours, we regrettably must graciously bow out of attendance. We do hope however, that all in attendance to please give our dear Queen Bonnie much love and hugs from the two of us as we would do so if we were there.  Everyone, please drive safe to and from this wonderous (as I presume it shall be) event and have a most enjoyable time.

Wow! What a time was had by all. The Empresses of the North has safely returned to her family, and her chauffer is home as well. Thanks to everyone that attended, and those of you who didn't make it missed a phenomenal party.

Aye, my caretakers Element of Air and Sir Jerrick Reyfe and I have arrived home safely.
A truly wonderful time was had by all and I was only sad to leave.

I'll post tomorrow afternoon when I get home to my own home.

Miss you all already and only wishing that TRF was that much sooner. Love, hugs, and kisses!

We didn't stay as late as some, but I agree a good time was had by all. New and Old friends abound. A raving good time  :P Queen Bonnie and Meow Manor were in fine show.

Made it back safely an hour after departure from the realm. Got the food into the refrig or freezer, had to move non critical items into the coolers to make room. Both the upper and lower portion are filled with bread! I'll see how the few digitals I took came out but it well be a little while on the 35mm's.

It was wonderfully fun! and I'm glad I went!

It was FUN! Thank you all for coming! I had a good time. Got to bed at 2:30AM - up at 7AM. Meow Manor is back to normal.
We had a visit from the garage toilet nargle but I will watch it and hope I don't have to call the Royal Plumber! Not nearly as bad as last year. The Nargle repelling spells worked- mostly.
The pictures are great!I want more!  I had fun singing!  Another successful ARRG! Thanks for the food and help and friendship!

Lost and found-
cigarette case?
Tee shirt ?
Towel?
, Mans bathing suit.

More anon!

Queen Bonnie, thank you again for the fine hospitality at your beautiful home.

Man what a spread!  Lech your brisket rocked, and Molden your dragon eggs were magically yummy!  It was great meeting those I had not met before and seeing those familiar.  The music was fab, and the passing of the staff was touching.  Hugs to all!

Ok, I know that the cigarette case belongs to my beloved. For some reason he just can't go to a faire or party without leaving a bit of himself behind. I had an AWESOME time this weekend, thank you SO very much for your hospitality Queen Bonnie. Here's some of the things I won't be forgetting any time soon...

1. Um, Blue, I think you just have to push it...
2. Jazz hands...
3. CANDY MOUNTAIN CHARLIE!!!
4. My SPOON is too big...
5. The happy place in the pool
6. The barrel of monkeys
7. Duckie tales

There's a whole lot more, but it would prolly get us kicked to Johns Inn LOL. Love you guys, and can't wait to whoop it up on Opening Weekend!!!

BTW, Darkie Duck WILL be coming home with me, OR ELSE.....

Hahahaha. And then Chris's response, everyone standing at the gates before St. Peter...and one of us can't keep a straight face and we're all just SOL.

Another one, "There are no virgins in this pool!"

I had a ton of fun meeting everyone and seeing old friends. Good food , good friends, good memories... Queen Bonnies' Hospitality is unmatched  :D She is , as always, the hostess with the mostess  ;)
Unfortunately the evening was marred for me and the gentelman who brought me. We were in a car accident at the intersection of 290 and 95 heading back to get my kid. Elven (Bill) is in pretty good shape and all I got was a hairline fracture on my knee. Everyone else in the other vehicle was OK with a few bumps and bruises. I spoke to several of you about coming out to volunteer at Serendipity so this is mostly to let you know that Bill will be there but I am going to take a few days off to get my leg back in shape so I can dance at the Rhythm and Stars event on the 16th. If I don't see you all soon I will see you all later =)

See you on the inside...

'Tis not a rumor, leastways as far as his attendence is concerned. The two of us plan to meet at the Sherwood site, take a look around, then come to the Serendipity Haven site afterwards.
