Title: Plastic chainmail?
Post by: Capt. William Drake on April 02, 2015, 02:19:34 PM
Has anyone heard of plastic chainmail?  I have heard that it was used in the movies Lord of the rings  as well as the kingdom of Heaven, because it is lightweight and easy to wear.  If anyone can help me by steering me to an individual or a company that makes this sort of product that would really make my day.   As always thank you my faire friends and have a blessed day.

You mean like this? (http://www.ringmesh.com/ChainMail_Tunics_s/26.htm)

It should be spelled chainmaille.  If you search for maille rather than mail, you'll have much better luck.

Also, any sort of plastic rings that hook would work if you want to make it yourself - there are tons of silver spray paints out there.

If you have the money-this guy does movie quality recreations of Elvin armor from PVC.

I actually have some.  It's pretty cheap looking (obviously plastic!) but works great for kids.  But there is probably better quality out there now as I have had mine for forever and a day.
