Title: Stary Olsa performing at MNRF
Post by: groomporter on September 02, 2016, 09:36:55 AM
QuotePopular in their home country of Belarus, they've been working their way across the country on a US tour funded entirely by Kickstarter. Known for their unusual covers of tunes by Metalica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, their true passion is medieval music with a kick. They'll be on the Pavilion Stage for 5 shows a day, this weekend.

Great music. Would have liked to have seen them. Nice videos.
We finally made it out to the Fest Saturday for the 1st time this year.  Was a great day. Looking forward to getting out there a few more times.

I backed it, too, and have gotten my cd but haven't listened to it yet. I saw something on FB, though, that made me think someone stole one of their lutes; I mean, a lute was stolen, but I assumed it belonged to this group. Anyone else hear that? or has it been returned?

Ilia's lute was stolen from Stary Olsa. As far as we at fest have heard, it has not been recovered. 😞

There's talk of a fund raiser to help replace it, but I haven't seen anything yet.
MNRF is going to try to get them back for next season.

I've heard a lot of talk too, but there doesn't seem to be anyone in an appropriate place of authority spearheading it. Need to get moving soon while it is still fresh in people's minds.

I've watched a lot of their videos on YouTube, but I didn't get to hear them, when they were here touring in the USA last Fall.
However, they're back in the USA this Spring, and performing at Sherwood Forest Faire (near Austin, TX), at least through March.
Apparently, they'll also be in Maryland and NYC during the Summer.
