Title: sad news-the battle is over-Dirk
Post by: mumsies on February 07, 2009, 12:43:26 PM
I posted this in the Pgh group, but I know that there are many of you in our Ohio family knew and loved him, and wanted to make sure that you got the news.
With much sadness I pass along the news. I received a call from Kharla. Dirk passed away early this morning. We really don't have much more information at this time. I can't even find words right now but can find some consolation knowing he will be at peace after such a long and painful battle.
Dirk's wishes were that there be no services and no memorial. I am sure Kharla will need all the healing thoughts and prayers that we can send along. I am not sure if she is up to phone calls at this time, you can call Heather, Stacy or myself, and we can pass along to Kharla. If there or people that you know do not read the boards, please let them know.
If we have any more information, we will post it here. Mumsies

I am so sorry to hear about that. Kharla and the rest of the GLMF Family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Last season on opening day, Kharla and Dirk made a surprise visit to Avaloch.  No one knew they were going to be there as Dirk had recently gone through a session of treatments.  After parking in the lot and joining the tailgate crew, Morwyn and I had the distinct pleasure and surprise of being greeted with a long stem rose and a hug from Sir Wulf/Dirk.  Although he was not feeling well, he got out of the car to make such a lovely gesture.  One I will never forget.

After the long journey from Morelandshire the day before Sir Wulf was not well that morning at Avaloch and actually only got to enjoy about one hour of the festival all weekend.  It was his last journey, and even before we entered the gate that morning he became ill, we left after only a few greetings.  I too will always remember that tailgate morning and can not thank all of you enough for your prayers and love.  Morwyn and Scarlett visited Sir Wulf at the hospital shortly before his passing dressed in full garb and bearing gifts...in his final days a home he looked at their photo and joked...

Capain Fortune will be arriving this weekend and I will ask him to post a few pictures because so many have requested them.  If you did not know Dirk ~ Sir Wulf, King Charming ~ The Honorable Lord Ulfr hinn svarti Juzki by name, when you see his photos you probably will.  If you did know him, I hope you feel blessed to have shared time with him, he was an exceptional man.

Awww yes, GLMF & Dirk last year ... remember it well ... that is until he busted out several bottles of his infamous mead ... the stuff that makes the lassies swoon and the lads bow to his greatness. Boy did we have a great time ...

... I love that man! I will miss him dearly.

We lasses swooned without his mead!  His mere presence was enough to do the trick.  I shall dearly miss him.
