Title: Final Weekend Tea with our Queen
Post by: Anna Iram on March 23, 2009, 02:13:08 PM
RF'ers, who will join me in a last Huzzah Tea with the Queen on Sunday of closing weekend? I've not had the chance yet and I'd love to see all our smiling faces around the tea... or "tea"  ;) .... tables to send off our season with style.

What say you?

And Ambios (Lord Northampton) will most likely sing for you.....

Then again...hope that doesn't scare anyone away!   ;)

..hey, you all said you wanted to make tea more interactive.... ;D

You can bet on it.  We've been having fun with me teaching refrains to the attendees!  Will give some thought to what I'm going to sing...but not going to let it out of the bag in advance.  Any suggestions for me to "take under consideration"?

March of Cambreadth?

I will admit to never having heard that until you introduced me to it, and I then called it up on the web.  I like it well, but must say it's a bit bloody ('tis a war song afterall) for Queen's Tea.  I may have to commit it to memory though...ye might here me singing it someday while walking about with Her Majesty!

On the contrary, I heard your beautiful voice a few weekends ago at Queens Tea and though the song was sad your voice was rich and clear. I highly reccomend your singing for all to hear. :)

I've got a lot of "choices" stored in my head already  8), but I'll DEFINITELY keep that in mind.  I'm no stranger to singing at Tea...or anywhere else, for that matter.  Madge and I even did an impromptu "Captain and the Queen"  ::) songset up by front gate this past weekend when one of the scheduled musicians didn't show up for his slot.

I shall, most definitely, be at Tea on closing day.
Save me a seat
Something with a view.
Something with a view of the Queen's lovely countenance and a short wait for all that wonderful food that I got to sample week one!

Oh, 'tis going to be a wondrous thing...

ne'er hath a tea been so anticipated as this...
and yet, dreaded... for when it comes, 'twill be the final one for the season...

so I do say... I cannot, and yet can... wait!

Nay, no dread Count. For as our King is fond of saying we must leave in order to return again. So it is with final tea. With the ending of our faire and final tea we are one day closer to opening day and seeing our Queen and her wonderful Court entertain us again.  :)

alas...  we have once again missed being able to come down to the Southern Shire...  but by the looks of it.. the last day of Tea with her most beautiful and gracious Majesty is going to be bountiful indeed...

remembering a rousing round of Musical Men.....

wishing you all a grand time at tea!!!

I'd prefer to enjoy the time we have and not rush it by...

I am in no hurry to be a day closer to the next season...

This has been quite an enjoyable season, despite setbacks... and I stand by my original stance of "I can't wait, but I can"
Title: Re: Final Weekend Tea with our Queen
Post by: Anna Iram on March 27, 2009, 10:51:16 PM
Count, you misunderstand my meaning. In plainer english I am saying don't dread a moment merely because it will mean an ending. Look forward to each moment that comes, and when the event comes to a close, as all events do, know that the "again" is that much closer. Stand as you will, I was merely offering my own thoughts.

Hector...see above. Or in keeping with your own comment...THAT'S the f***.  ;)

Lady Donegan, you will be missed. I am sorry you won't be able to make it this weekend.  ;(                                      Yes, I would definitly plan on making out for the last weekend next year. The last weekend is the last chance we all have to get together, so I'd say most everyone comes on at least one of the last days on the last weekend of BARF.  Usually we put a nice list together on the forum of who's coming when and on what days etc., but we didn't really seem to get that accomplished this year. Maybe next year we'll do better and it will make it easier for you're planning. ;)

The tea was amazing!
No, not the tea
the TEA
It was fun, hilariously at times...
Ambios, quite the voice you have... and quite the skill for putting a brother Rogue on the spot...
but your kind words were inspiration to rise to the occasion.

Madge Estes... oh, you devilish Peep Lover...
I cannot express to you enough how wonderful this season has been and how responsible for that you have been.

Musical men... oh, now since I didn't make it to the game last weekend in time to participate, this was a wondrous bit of fun for me.
I even got Her Majesty once!  Thanks, Leinad, for helping me up when it was my time to rise.

I have said this before... when Rennies come in from larger Faires... about our shire.
It bears saying again:

"What we lack in size, we more than make up for in character"

'twas spectacularly evident that this is true at the Queen's Tea today.
Thanks, everyone for a wondrous time!

Many thanks, my good Count!  Sorry for the surprise (yeah, right....NO I'M NOT)  ;D....you and Falcone were exactly the addition I knew you would be when I told Madge I wanted to do that to you!

To ALL of you who attended yesterday (with special thanks to Leinad and Escarlata).....this marked my 5th year as Madge's "brother".....and this was the BEST TEA YET!  Huzzah to all of you.....as Madge is fond of saying (from the heart), and I'm paraphrasing mightily here.....without all of you there would be no Tea!!

Already looking forward to next year!!!!

The tea was perfectly wonderful.  :) Like a good Peep-Tea-ni...the perfect concoction of history, humour, dancing and Peep shenanigans.  :D :D :D

Yes! Most special thanks to Esc and Leinad for orchestrating the scroll and roses for the Queen. It was really touching and the icing on the cake for sure.

Ahem...Count... you forgot to mention the lovely lady that won you at the game of Musical Men.   :)

Most especially the best treat was to look down the table and see the crazy lot of us at one table. A nice reminder that it takes alot of different colored threads to weave a truely lovely tapestry. I'm glad we ( nearly all) made it.  :)

Funny, I had thought it was 800 NO-PEEPS

Anyway... I most wholeheartedly hope that a few hundred thousand pictures of the Tea surface, for there is no way to relive it so the pictures will have to do!

Ambios, of course, you know I jest... anytime I may be of any assistance even in a small way, please do not hesitate to call upon me.

I'm still wishing the season were not over... but I know all good things must eventually come to an end.  I'm sure there are a few projects I have been neglecting and some friends I should go see...
but if it had to come to an end...
at least it did so with "A Tea to Remember"

Count, I can only reccomend the Peep Help Line Anna used many years ago on the old forum. I cannot speak for the success of any other line, though NO-PEEPs may be a good one as well.

Of course..come to think of it...Anna needs a refresher visit herself.  She does continue to hold a soft squishy spot in her heart for Peeps. ;)

Indeed, dear R/Fers, yesterday's was absolutely amazing.  I want to thank all of you for all of the support you have given me throughout this season, for your presence at tea, and for your lovely gift.  My house smells lovely with the HUGE bouquet of roses, and the scroll will soon be hung up on the wall in my office.

Nothing beats an all R/F's tea gathering. It's my favorite part and I look forward to it all year!! I can't believe I braved and survied musical this year without falling on my you know what or worse falling into the queen. ;)

Thank you to Escarlata and Leinad for putting together such a beautiful way for us to show our appreciation to our lovely queen and for being there for my mom when she was in need of a friendly face. I know I am very bad daughter for not rushing to her side, but she said she was fine and their was this guy and a hankercheif, oh never mind. My bad, so again a big thank you. ;)

Thanks to the court for putting up with the you got "peeped" pins. The queen may have had the most Lady Maude, but you my dear get the sweet distinction for being the first in court to be "peeped" that morning. ;).

Thanks as always to Lady Fair and her hubby, whom always give my mom and I place to feel welcomed at fair and for the fan and the "Peeper pins." I was too nervous to really get into the game this time, but I hope we do something like that again that was alot of fun and next time.....Oh boy I'll be ready! LOL!

Thanks to the Queen, her brother Ambios, Lady Maude, the always funny Next and his team of castmembers, I attended tea twice this year and they always put on such a wonderful production of food and merriment. I always reccomend it to folks. :)  And yes my queen I did learn some great tea things this year and saw a tea brick for the very first time. Huzzah! Now remembering the stuff I learned maybe a whole another story. LOL!

Gosh, I know I am leaving alot of folks out and for that I am sorry. Their are lots of folks that make BARF special, but none as aparant to me as the R/F's. I am truely blessed to be able to spend such quality time with ya'll and I am already looking forward to next year. ;)

And Father Simon if you ever come back on the boards...I want you to know I missed you this year and your longbow guidance.

Of course I know did jest, my good Adolfo!   ;D

And to all of you in attendance who brought the magic boxes full of pixies.....bring on the portraits!  They should be glorious - and hilarious!  ;D ::) ;D

Baa-Baa?!?  Is that because that is the only thing one can say after drinking it?  Or because one starts wandering around calling for sheep?

Not a shabby guess My Queen!  ;)

Actually, t' make Escarlata's favorite flavor (Cinnamon) - it takes 3 full bags of Cinnamon Fire Jolly Ranchers in 1.75 liters of Tito's Vodka. Hence - from "Yes Sir, Yes Sir 3 bags full..." y' werkses in reverse t' "Baa-Baa black sheep 'ave ye any wool?" ...

When I introduced it, I dispensed it in 1 pint bottles. I gave th' first t' my then girlyfriend along with another friend t' sample. I turned around a few moments later - they drank all but a few swigs. I took back the bottle an' advised 'em t' sit down before the fell down... It tasted like candy t' 'em - however, they failed t' take int' account tha' they'd swigged nearly a pint of vodka atwixt th' both o' 'em w'in but a few minutes!  :o

Baa-Baa?!?  Is that because that is the only thing one can say after drinking it?  Or because one starts wandering around calling for sheep?

*chuckling* You'd have to hear Molden tell the story but the result is a wonderous invention called Baa-Baa and it comes in your favorite flavor. Can you guess what mine is?

*grumbling....*

Your Majesty called....?

Thank GOD I have learned not to read this forum whilest drinking anything...

oh, speaking of drinks... that cinnamon Baa Baa Molden speaks of?
I had that meself at the Handfasting and can attest... WOW WOW WOW and another WOW for good measure!

Ask LJ about the ... can't remember, it was green so either watermelon or green apple ... either way, it's just as good.

Ohhhh, wonder what the sour apple would taste like with some Buttershotz added to it? The Earl of Greensmith's famous drink with an added kick.

Aye - t'was the sour apple that I gave LJ, an' kicked in a bottle o' watermelon t' boot! So...both were "in play" so t' speak - along with th' cinnamon.

The only out-an'-out failure was th' blue raspberry from th' bulk pack. I had hopes fer a Romulan Ale ... but, alas 'twas quite gnarly.  :P

OWWWW!

Aye, it's buggerin' good stuff!!   But the fun starts with the party what makes the Baa Baa.   In the Original Molden Cantos, various other disreputables were to be invited.  It takes a lot of work, ya know, unwrapping Jolly Ranchers and then dropping them in a bottle.  And then there's this problem of displacement...all that vodka has to go somewhere.. ;)

It's fun from start to finish! :D

Does it have to be Tito's Vodka? I tried it with Smirnoff's and it didn't taste the same.

Mmm...I am thinking of Baa-Baa for TNRF.
It dissolves pretty fast and is ready to drink right then and there, yes?

LOL...I wouldn't think it could get any mellower with age like Loki.

Does it have to be ranchers? Can you make it with any kind of hardcandy..I'm thinking mint or butterrum. :)

Molden was fairly adamant on this.   So was Shanalee, who quite defined the term adamant. ;D   Tito's Vodka and Jolly Ranchers.  Accept no substitutes.   The flavor profiles aren't there.  And who wants this stuff any 'mellower', anyway.....?   The girls knocked it back like it was Kool-Aid!

One brief wander off and on topic...I think...me compass n' brain operates much like me skiff...scuttled rudder, tangled riggins an' all...  ;)

WW - you hit th' point exact-a-mundo on why Tito's over Smirnoff an' others. For verification - do a taste test with Tito's vs. the others. It doesn't have the typical vodka taste (an' after taste). It's very smoooooth, so ALL you taste is the jolly rancher an' not the vodka. Hence th' ability to go down so well...and dangerously.

An - Aye...th' jolly ranchers disolve fairly quickly. Shakin' th' bottle 'elps expedite th' situation. Once dissolved, she's ready t' drink - requires no aging.

Again - 'tis 3 bags (~33 pieces per bag on average) t' 1.75 liter o' Tito's. Pour it off t' th' top o' the label (make a coupla nice screwin' drivers or bloody marys) to make room fer th' jolly ranchers. Add about 2 1/2 bags, dissolve, sample some t' "taste test" an' t' makeses moar room fer th' rest o' the candy. Ok - so it's not exactly 1.75 liters t' 3 bags o' jr - but there be sompthin' in th' alchemy o' the deal where the partakin' o' spirits makeses th' batch turn out so good.

An' nows I retarn ye t' yer previous intellectual discourse.  :D

methinks that doesn't finish with "is an intellectual discourse"

Aye Wenchie...I'll "bless" yer concoction...all "St. Molden" disclailmers in effect n' all dat.  ;)

My Favourite moment from Her Majesty's Tea was last year on St. Molden's Day of all things...I was seated w' Escarlata n' Leinad as Her Majesty announced that "...in honour of one who traveled so far to visit (Her) Shire" we would play her favourite game - Musical Men! Th' kicker was, as Her Majesty made this proclamation - she walked over n' held out her hand - bidding me to join her. Taking Her hand, I stood on th' bench, stepped up on th' table and joined her syde w'out losing her dignified hand.

I'm glad you brought that up. I want to apologise for seeming rude. As you recall, it was long after canon and I was hanging about waiting for Judy and Dave and a few others to pack up so we could join a gathering at dinner. I was across the lane with Tony and a another couple chating about some of the good times .  I wanted to say goodby to the Count. The two of you were deep in conversation and I didn't want to interupt, but I was moved to give him a hug goodby. The thought was there to hug you as well, but I thought it wouldn't be well received. Anyway, I just didn't want you or Count to think it was a deliberate snub.

*edited a bit. Sorry, that was a bit snarky, to much water under the bridge I guess.*

That would be football that I was referring to,  Mr Madden! ;D

My goodness.  You all threw out a page of walking out the door lines. I figured I'd play along. As I said before, this is *our* forum. Everyone is welcome to join in our threads, and everyone is encouraged to have fun. Simple enough. Stop looking for harm where no harm was intended.

Nicki , I know Madge loaned it out. It was me that asked you to contact Madge to get permission first because I knew it was part of her act or bit and I didn't want there to be bad feelings of any sort over the game. That's why I spoke in the Scarby thread as well. Just making sure everyone knows it would be proper to ask permission. Just in case they haven't realised. Who made me the Musical Men police...ummm...no one. Just looking out for someone I like. I'm glad you got to play. I assumed since you all like the game so much you might have asked again. I assumed since most of those chatting in this thread planned to be at TN, and this is a thread about Musical Men, there might be a tie in. It's no insult, just an assumption.

Now as I said before, if anyone has something they'd like to say to me privatly about this thread or some other expectations, contact me via ren mail. Otherwise, back to the fun.

*grabbing bag of chips from Seamus* Thanks, Dearie, how did you know I was craving those?  ;D

I agree with Renee and Molden!

Some of my best faire memories are from the Queen's Tea! I was sad to miss it this time, but there's always MIRF!

*turns chips bag upside down*

Aw...you all ate them!

I agree, Athena, it would have been fun to play Musical Men...but we did find other ways to have fun, didn't we?  ;)

OK so I was getting used to having Seamus' mint juleps every Saturday morning.  :D

Methinks Steve and I have to make it back to BARF soon!  Musical Men and Mint Juleps.  Oh, what we're missing.

*Renee sits down to plan next vacation -- the Caribbean, preceded by a stopover in Tampa for the weekend and a trip to BARF.  Like it might happen.  Sigh*

OK, that does it!  I have to make it down there one weekend.  No two ways about it!

And Renee, if you do go to the Caribbean, you have to stop at St. Thomas.  I know all the good places in Charlotte Amalie.  They even wanted to hire me on the spot at Blackbeard's Tower!  But I ended up correcting their presentations in exchange for drinks instead.  ;D

OMG, I just had a thought (SHUT UP, it happens on occasion LOL).... Seamus's mint juleps served at Queen's Tea! OK, maybe the masses aren't quite ready for such a magical potion, but it's sure fun to imagine! That would make Musical Men even more interesting!  ;D

Dang, I miss BARF!

The fresh mint is what made the juleps so great! That and the company it was shared in. It was like Kentucky Derby Saturday with different hats!

And yes, Jack, you and Athena need to come on the same weekend. We can get Laird and the MCracks at the same time!  :D

If Tennessee could survive all of us being in one place at the same time, Florida certainly can!  :D

mmm, mint juleps!

I was fortunate enough to savor them - after hours of course :) - because Esc and Leinad made sure a bottle was stashed for me.  YEA!!!

I wanna come, too!  Let me know when next year, and hopefully, the Queen will play Musical Men at the tea that weekend.

Jack, we used to live in the British Virgin Islands, and if I never go to St. Thomas again, that will be fine with me.  I went enough for 3 lifetimes, especially to buy baby formula, real milk, diapers, and medicine that wasn't pass the sell-by date by up to 2 years (what a novel idea!), and weaved through enough tourists to never want to see one again on a beach!

It was a 3 hour boat ride each way with an infant/ toddler, and I had to go every few weeks.  Then got back to Peter Island with its view of Dead Man's Chest, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Now BARF next year, that might be a possibility.  Though it would have to be a toss-up between Cinqo dETTE Mayo and BARF.  Yikes!

I had a fantastic time this year and am already making plans for next year.  It's already got me looking forward to this trip next March.

In the meantime, TNRF in 2 weeks!

This year was for sure a time to remember, sigh, did not get to hang out with everyone, but faire lives on in the many pictures that were captured by the majic boxes.

I find it very interesting living faire with how each and everyone sees it through the lens.  All the pics contain a bit of the person who got the shot..... as they saw it..... smile...... memories..... giggle....

So it's done, then....a new BARF tradition!!!

Mint Juleps in the parking lot!  And even more people to invade on St. Molden's Day....

With luck, they may have to look for a bigger site.... ;)

Glad to see everyone is looking forward to next season! Should be a fun one. I'm not personally a fan of Mint Juleps, but perhaps it's because I've never had a good one.

If you would like to begin a new topic to begin planning for next years St Pat's gathering please do so. Matter of fact I'll begin one for you . I'd like to bring this topic back to it's original intent of this seasons Tea with our Queen.

And at last...the long awaited GROUP PHOTO!!!  A few friends were not there but wished to be, and you guys were missed.  NoBill Lurker, Lord and Lady Caligo, Father Simon, to name but a few.. memories are like pictures, but captured in your mind forever, just like true friends are your angels on earth.

Kathryn (hugs) I'm glad you made it for the pic too.

Thanks agin to Ladyfair for working so hard to get us all together for these shots. I wish everyone could have been there, but I'm truly glad for those of us who came together for Tea and Peeps.

Haha.. would that be PEEPtures?!
