Needing some comic relief tonight. What are the funniest songs you have ever heard a Renaissance performer sing?
Even the ones that are so WRONG they are hilarious. ;D
Iris & Rose's version of Scotland the Brave:
Bring me some whiskey mother, I'm feeling frisky mother.
Bring me a sheep for I am lonely tonight.
I need a lover, mother.
No! Not my brother, mother!
I need a sheep to keep me warm through the night.
My FAVORITE song! :)
LOL, Iris and Rose, Old King Cole! :D
I also think The Moose Song and The Zucchini Song are funny. ;D
This is not really a Renn Song but it was definitely one of the funniest songs I heard this season at NYRF. One of the cast re-imagined "Greensleves" for Pub Sing. I split my sides laughing!

Bobbanogian Bards doing Ball of Ballymore - is my favorite. I like the other' versions out there but theirs I like the best.
Lady Kett- Try sitting in the middle of a play and hearing a character's cell phone go off to Scottland the brave, and trying not to laugh as Iris and Rose's version is going through your head.
The Ice Cream Truck song
By Iris & Rose.
Do your balls hang low, do the waggle to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot, can you tie 'em in a abow?
Yay!! Thank you!! I SO needed these suggestions today!!! It's so dreary out and I wanted something to make me laugh. ;D
Old McDonald's Deformed Farm is one we (Off Keel) play during our adult shows. I have gotten so many positive reactions to that song!
The original is performed by Seamus Kennedy.
There is also Worst Pirate in the World by Ceann
Here you go Mairte!
Catnip Kitty by Marc Gunn (http://youtu.be/4hfOA1s9-kc)
Danny Boy (for cat lovers) by Marc Gunn (http://youtu.be/KfjZ0U-ImsI)
Anything by Dan the Bard at Bristol is hysterical.
The Inconvenienced Knight, Bard Camp, and Drunken Gnome Illusionist come to mind, but there are 3 CDs of others. ;D
Ren - ish rant.........
Pachelbel Rant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM#)
Well, Johnny be fine and Johnny be fair he wants me for to wed
And I would marry Johnny, but my father up and said,
"I'm sorry to tell you daughter what your mother never knew
But Johnny he's a son of mine, so he's kin to you."
Well, Willie be fine and Willie be fair he wants me for to wed
And I would marry Willie, but my father up and said,
"I'm sorry to tell you daughter what your mother never knew
But Willie he's a son of mine, so he's kin to you."
Well, Jimmy be fine and Jimmy be fair he wants me for to wed
And I would marry Jimmy, but my father up and said,
"I'm sorry to tell you daughter what your mother never knew
But Jimmy he's a son of mine, so he's kin to you."
Well, never was there a girl so sad and sorry as I was
The boys in town, they're all my kin and my father is the cause!
I will not be contented for to die a single miss
I think I'll go to mother and complain to her of this.
"Well, daughter, haven't I taught you to forgive and to forget?
So, your father sowed his oats, oh still you should not fret.
Your father may be the cause of all the boys in town, but still.....
He's not the one who sired you so marry who you will."
An old takoff on the Irish Washerwoman. Someone will know the history on this-
A dragon has come to our village today.
We've asked him to leave, but he won't go away.
Now he's talked to our king and they worked out a deal.
No homes will he burn and no crops will he steal.
Now there is but one catch, we dislike it a bunch.
Twice a year he invites him a virgin to lunch.
Well, we've no other choice, so the deal we'll respect.
But we can't help but wonder and pause to reflect.
Chorus
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?
Are they salty, or sweeter, more juicy or what?
Do you savor them slowly? Gulp them down on the spot?
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?
Now we'd like to be shed you, and many have tried.
But no one can get through your thick scaly hide.
We hope that some day, some brave knight will come by.
'Cause we can't wait around 'til you're too fat to fly.
Now you have such good taste in your women for sure,
They always are pretty, they always are pure.
But your notion of dining, it makes us all flinch,
For your favorite entree is barbecued wench.
Chorus
Now we've found a solution, it works out so neat,
If you insist on nothing but virgins to eat.
No more will our number ever grow small,
We'll simply make sure there's no virgins at all!

Mairte "Iris and Rose, Old King Cole" is really funny song, I didn't heard it yet .
The above Dragon song "Do Virgins Taste Better?" is performed by the Brobdinagian Bards. I belive its just Marc Gunn perfoming now and he keeps pretty busy between websites, podcasts, festivals, etc. Website is here

Most of the CD's are on the CDbaby website.
