Fishers will be here before you know it. We have already made hotel arrangements and are preping outfits as who knows what the weather will be, either unseasonally hot like last year or chilly like the first year.  Best to be prepared for both.  Huzzah to the faire! Can't wait can't wait can't wait!!!!!

I shall endeavor harder this year to stop by your booth unlike the previous year which had so many snags on a variety of levels.

Depending upon how much stock you put into the predictions of the Farmer's Almanac, you may want to prepare for the possibility of hot weather. According to a fellow cast member of mine, the Almanac predicts hotter weather than last year :-\

Be sure to stop me and say hello this year Sir William, I didn't get a chance last year!

A bit of an update.

A living Chess match unfortunately is not going to be this year, too many scheduling conflicts to adequately prepare and run this feature safely and properly. So it is on the hold, we hope for better luck next year.

There are several new performers; including a whole new jousting troupe! The Knights of Valor will be at Fishers. They are a full contact troupe; anyone who has been to the Ohio faire should be quite familiar with them.

The faire's theme this year is The Year of Romance; with the French Duke of Anjou arriving to court Queen Elizabeth for possible marriage! Also such womanizing rogues like Sir Walter Raleigh and myself will wandering and wooing any unescorted ladies {possibly escorted ladies as well if their men are not careful <EG>}

This also the usual reports of thieves, pirates and gypsies running amok through the crowds; so beware! The Lord Sheriff, Sir Henry Capell will be once again manning the local gaol eagerly searching for culprits to either lock up or even, heaven forbid, execute!

The usual knighting and ennobling ceremonies of young lads and lasses will be presided over by HRM Queen Elizabeth; and rumor has it the pirates will be out looking to scallywag such suitable folk that they can lay their hands upon!

Hope to cross paths will all who come and enjoy the faire with us,

The Knights of Valor is a great addition to an already awesome faire!!!! ;D

hhmmmmm....hoping that the Farmer's Almanac is off by about 20 degree's... a nice 80 something would be perfect.....giggle  this year I will be prepared for the weather in either direction..... last year caught me off guard. :o

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a great summer so far.  I don't know about you but I've got renfaire withdrawal!  I can't wait for this year's faire!  I'm now the cast director for the faire this year, as well as Grace O'Malley in the pirate show.  Yippee!  So if you want the inside scoop on what's happening behind the scenes, feel free to ask me!
Look for our big ad in the Sept.-Oct. issue of Renaissance Magazine, I think my pics in it shopping for snoods.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could hold on to this weather we are experiencing till October? Then reality hits, remembering this is Indiana and for all we know it could be snowing by then  (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i231/LittleCasino/Smileys/snow.gif)

Due to some last minute problems, the Red Lion was not actually there last year. This year, the latest word is that it would be beer and wine. While most consider mead under the general category of wine; it hasn't been mentioned specifically. I will ask the faire chairman this weekend during our practices.

The Red Lion was there last year. It had both Mead and Beer.  But it wasn't obvious where it was located.

This year we will have Beer Wenches outside the tent and they will be serving Mead and Beer.

TIME to purchase those advanced tickets!  Tickets now available (in Indiana) at Key Bank Locations.  OR there is a form to fill out and mail in with a check (we'll send you the tickets by mail).  Save 25% (okay the tickets are relatively cheap at $6 in advance for adults or $8 at the door), but since we are a fundraiser for a not for profit organization (Sister Cities of FIshers......BTW all monies go to college scholarships and student/teacher exchanges with Billericay, England....none of the people involved in running the faire receive any money), the more money we have up front, the better off we are.  We decided early on that our faire would be cheap enough for a family of 5 or 6 to attend and have a great time without breaking the bank.  Thus the low prices.  We have over 100 shows a day with well-known favorite acts from the renfaire circuits (Rogue Blades, Knights of Valour, Molotov the Gypsy etc...)  as well as some local one of a kind shows (Hey Nonny Nonny Players: Pirates of the Luna Sea).  So check out the website (www.fishersrenfaire.com) and come visit us......  because 15000 patrons in one weekend can't be wrong!

Hello everyone!

I went to a renaissance faire once when I was just a kid, and have always wanted to return. The Fisher's Faire will be my first as an adult, and I'm SO looking forward to it! I purchased a few items of garb from Pendragon at GenCon this year, and have spent the last few hours trying to decide what shoes I might order from Lady Oren (I hope I have time left!).

Well, I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to seeing everyone in October! :)

I hope to make this year, it will be my first at Fishers, I usually attend Bristol every summer, but missed it this summer.  I live about half way between the two.  It sounds like a good time will be had by all.

Well then let me welcome you beforehand ;D

I also usually attend Bristol, but economic factors kept me far closer to home than in past years, so I missed out on Bristol this year. As Sir Walter pointed out earlier, there are several new "things" this year as well as returning favorites, so a good time is easy to find.

Hope to see you there :)

The Fourth Annual Fishers Renaissance Faire proudly presents,
"The Year of Romance".

      In the year 1579, our cleverly themed fair comes complete with daily mass vow renewals, period weddings, Her Majesty's infamous and amusing Court of Love, character romances, scandals and a shocking surprise suitor for the Queen!  And there is a fairy catcher in town, stealing the Fantasticals for his menagerie!  Will the Fairie Queen's advisor, Lord Rowan,  be able to save his beloved Autumn fairy, Chrysanthemum,  in time?  What is the mystery behind the fairy catcher?  Find out this and more by joining in the fun and becoming immersed in the live tales of Billericay, England.  Huzzah!

     We proudly introduce our brand new  jousting troupe, The Knights of Valour,  who will be entertaining the masses with thrilling jousting feats of  bravery.  There will be plenty of hearty faire food, beer and mead by Leinenkugel,  unique artisan shopping, and over 100 lusty, period entertainment shows daily.   Be sure to catch the  parades,  Sunday church Reformation service, Fisher's very own Hey Nonny, Nonny Players Pirate shows, archery contests, Kiwanis sponsored childrens games, pony rides, falconry,  Peasant Olympics, dragon wing eating contest, sword fighting,  Scottish Highland Games, period madrigal choirs, musicians and dancing, puppet shows, a daily costume contest by the Fantasticals, knightings by the Queen, and over 200 costumed street characters to interact with you.

      All to take place on a single weekend of merriment and mayhem, Oct. 4th and 5th, 10am-6pm daily on the grounds of Connor Prairie. Gate ticket admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children 6-12.  Pre-sale tickets for $2 off gate admission prices may be purchased at participating Key bank locations.  No pets allowed. Free onsite parking.  Parking shuttle transportation for handicapped available.  The Fishers Renaissance Faire is a non-profit fundraising event sponsored by Sister Cities Association of Fishers, IN to enlighten, entertain, and educate about Fishers' Sister City Billericay, England and the English Renaissance Period.   For more information or for Key bank locations in your area please see our website at www.fishersrenfaire.com.  Be part of history!

Unfortunatley, the money issues extended to my chariot needing new tires and breaks, so the entry was not the issue. I am most distressed at not being able to attend.  I don't know of any thing else within driving distance until next year now.  And yes the weather looks very pretty maybe just a bit nippy, but one can deal with that when they are having a good time.  I hope to see you all next year either at Bristol or Fishers or perhaps both.

Well the faire is over for this year, which is both good and sad. We had some of the best weather; especially on Saturday. No oven-baking heat like last year. The Hey Nonny Nonny Players' shows went quite well, we had a lot of audience participation, and very few people leaving in the middle of the show.

Finally met Ladyfair, took me halfway through Sunday and finally meeting Sir William Marcus as well, to finally have time to find her booth. Also I did "re-meet" Lady Ann who was in attendance with Ladyfair. The "re-meet" was due to Lady Ann not realizing that under the old RF forums site, I was known as "Swashbuckler".

Safe travels my friends, and may you find happiness around every corner!

Peace Out!

Title: 2009 Fishers Renaissance Faire Cast call outs
Post by: Grace "Rum" O'Malley on January 20, 2009, 12:11:11 PM
 Happy New Year!       Hope everyone had a great holiday season!  It's that time again!  Time to dust off your renfaire hat and come sign up for the 2009 Fishers Renaissance Faire. We need you to come try-out for the new volunteer cast of the Fishers Renaissance Faire.     We will hold a short informational meeting for our new attendees, we are looking for outgoing individuals who would like to join our volunteer cast as street performance peasants, male sea dogs (pirates), middling merchants, Sheriff's constables, male Beefeater guards, female Queen's household staff, adult Fantasticals (fairy and mythic folk), volunteer unpaid entertainers (jugglers, stilt walkers, minstrels, etc.), Shakespeare shorts actors, Madrigal Choir singers and many more character roles!  If you are just signing up as a general volunteer or paid entertainer, just come sign up and then you may leave.  We will hold a informational meeting for general volunteers much closer to faire time. Paid entertainers will be contacted by our entertainment coordinator.      New cast must be 15 years old at the time of auditions or accompanied by a parent/guardian who will also be a cast member in the same guild.   All new Fantasticals need to be 16 years old at the time of auditions.  Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/legal guardian sign the new 2009 volunteer waiver for consent to join the cast.        The audition dates are as follows:      Jan. 25th, 1pm at Holland Park for Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" try-outs and Villagers cast informational meeting, all male and female roles needed.  Feb. 8th, 2pm at the Fishers Public Library for general all cast and new Fantasticals try-outs and informational meeting.  The Fantasticals will be searching for more adult male and female roles and new mythic creature additions.  The last opportunity for sign up and auditions is Feb. 28th, 1pm at the Fishers Public Library for Madrigal Choir singers, and general all cast informational meeting.  All male/female voices needed to fill.            I look forward to seeing you all at one of the cast call-out/audition dates, but if you can't make any of them, send me an e-mail so I know you still want to join.  This year is our 5th year Anniversary Celebration Spectacular, so make it your New Year's resolution to grab some friends or family and get them to join our fun cast family!  I hope you are all healthy, happy, and looking forward to a great year with us!

The 2009 Fishers Renaissance Faire will be held Oct. 3rd and 4th from 10am-6pm daily on the grounds of Connor Prairie.  Go to www.fishersrenfaire.com for directions.

Also, Facebook has an unofficial website for the Fishers Renaissance Faire and a unofficial Friends of the Fishers Renaissance Faire page.  Myspace has an official Fishers Renaissance Faire myspace page, and you can find me at the Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley on myspace also.  Did everyone like the new jousting troupe "Knights of Valour" this past year?

I was going to ask about that. I tried a few days ago while updating my faire list on my website. I was also thinking about getting there this season.

Hi yall!

The newly revamped website is up and running!  Huzzah!  We are still tweaking some broken links and will add more cool stuff as the summer approaches.  We are looking forward to an awesome year this year!  We've finished auditions in Jan. and Feb. and are gearing up early this year.  Our 200 + cast is really excited and we are already rehearsing monthly.  (if anybody is interested in helping us recruit people, let me know, we are still looking for cast to join!)  I am going to have to get my swords out and brush up my fencing for the pirate show.  I am sooo ready for warmer weather!

Title: Renaissance Magazine Spread
Post by: Sir Francis Drake on May 09, 2009, 08:39:35 PM
Just got the word from the Fair chairman. The Fishers faire will have a photo spread in the July issue of Renaissance Magazine. They asked us for 100 pictures and they will pick several pics; anywhere from 3 pages or so. Not bad for a faire that is only turning 5 years old this year! Be sure to pick up a copy so you can show your friends exactly what we have to offer at Fishers! We have no idea which pictures will be used  until the issue comes out; however I will be available for autographs at the Tansfield stage during faire :)  J/K :)

An update {as well as a little self-crowing  ;D }

Just got word from the Faire Chairman that Fishers Renfaire will have a 10-page photo spread in Renaissance Magazine's issue #68 {July}! Also, we are in the running to be the actual cover of that issue as well! A great 5th birthday present for the faire indeed! {And now for the self-crowing!}

Of the pictures submitted for review, two of them include me personally! ::hurting himself from overpatting himself on the back::::
One of the pics I had hoped they wouldn't pick, as it makes me look I am pissed off and rather looking like an ahole; which wasn't;t the case; but impressions being what they are! The second picture I knew would be chosen; however not for me; but rather for my young, adorable costar in the picture! Children in pictures is always a big draw; especially when in renfaire garb because they are cast members as well:)

So be on the look out for Renaissance Magazine issue #68 {July 2009} at your local magazine shop, printing press, or monastery!
Title: Shakespeare auditions for FRF
Post by: Grace "Rum" O'Malley on May 21, 2009, 02:44:14 PM
I am so excited about the Renaissance Magazine spread in the July issue!  I put together about 100 pictures for them and they chose which ones to use, so it will be great to see what they use.
Looks like the website is official done getting a face lift, feel free to check it out at www.fishersrenfaire.com.  We'll be adding more pics as we get them.  Be sure to help us blog the faire this year, with all the great publicity we hope to make this year's faire the biggest in Indiana history!  Huzzah!

I am currently looking for Shakespeare players for "The Merry Wives of Windsor".  Must be over 19 years of age for Shakespeare.  I will have an audition walk in day for anyone who wants to come on Sunday, June 7, 2pm at the Fishers Public Library in Fishers, IN just northeast of Indianapolis, IN. Spread the word if you know of anyone who would be perfect for this. For more info. feel free to contact me, the cast director, at nikkifiv@sbcglobal.net.  Thank you!
