Aye.. but the wench who must stand next to them MUST wash the "stuff"....... :-X ;D :-*
Now that I have a wearable outfit for opening, I say Bring it on! Just need to sew some easy pants and all the really needed stuff is done! The rest is just icing on the cake.
Wandered the site today...makes me crave fest even more. Also makes me want to repaint the trim on our pub. Think I will see about getting permission to do so.
One month to go!! Squeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
w00t!!!! I just realized that I think I passed the 1 year mark on the forum....... ;D
We heard crickets chirping last night -One of my wife's annual signs that MNRF is almost upon us.

How about this:
And on the 24th day they who shall not be named create "Fest". Now you have to do a loving drawn out "fest" in your head as you read this or its just not right....lol.... :P
I just hope Im able to walk without the limp by then, knee surgery went goofy now Im doing rehab for something not related to my knee.
Oh, bummer, Sleepy!
Perhaps you will have to be your Fop/Noble character that weekend and have someone wait on you.
(ya, right...)
Well crap Sleepy, that sucks. Sounds like you and I might be sitting most of our time out there the first day. So who could we find, that would be so nice to us, that they would make our mead runs, or what not for us???

I'd be helpful in that respect, as long as I get a cut off the top! ;) Although me thinks that I'm in servitude to someone else that first day.

My suggestion is to pull a bench real close to the booth. I tend to get side tracked when I go on mead runs, it might take me a little time to get back... ;) :o ;D
well Fig we could just buy our own barrel and put it on the table at the glade.
On another note I fell down the stairs last night (slipped) and hurt it more. Its just been a great week!!!!
I think you and I are going to be two lame ducks that first weekend at a minimum. I know I won't be able to stand for any length of time. So I'll have to bribe the wife to do the runs for me, instead of vice versa. The location of the cutting they'll be doing on me will not be a good place for a guy. I figure after enough libations. We'll just lean on each other, to hold each one up right. Know all we'll need is to get one of them there little bells to ring for when we need something.
Oh yeah BTW. HEAR YEE, HEAR YEE, 21 days 15 hours 24 minutes till BOOOOOM

Can't wait for Laborday weekend to take the edge off the long haul to february!! Looking forward to finally getting to meet you all
Hmm...methinks you may know a few of us already!
Yay! Can't wait to see you!
I think I will be just kilting it that first weekend. Unless the knee feels better and I am not walking without a limp. I could go as a wizard and use my staff I have been working on. Now the thought is do I go with meds or not...cuz that will depend on mead or not. :o :( ???
I'm still trying to finish favors before opening weekend and i'm running outta time, I only have like 30 to go...unless I need more for my fave perfomers/cast members.
I guess naps are out when little one is asleep just so I can get them done, and has anyone seen my garb its around here somewhere....I need more time. LOL.

Ah hell.. who am I kidding!!! Bring on the Beer Wenching!!! Whoo Hoooo!!! ;D :-*
A song that has been stuck in my head now since our wench meeting... Thanks Lori!!

yep feel free to have it stuck in your head now... :D
It can't come soon enough, but it always goes by to fast. I will say, with the way the wife's been sewing lately. I think the dog is going to end up with more garb than either of us put together.
She's been making so many little kilts for her. I told her once she's done with the small one's she can graduate to the big boys and do one for me next. You can never have to many kilts.

We'll be thinking of everyone on your opening day! Huzzah! and may your season be the best ever. :)
I'm now counting the days to Labor Day weekend.
8 days 18 hours ...
8 days, 6 hours plus until cannon!!!! :o :o
Wow, where did the time go, I have so much to do!! *panic mode on*
Only a bloody week left.....better get my tankard arm in shape....
Woohoo, I cant wait. My only problem is I cant decide what to wear. FOP, noble, knight or pirate. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
I can taste the pancakes already...which reminds me I gotta make sure I have fuel for the stove.
Oh come now Bacardi, we all know you keep that arm in shape all year round, but practice does make perfect
Well I know my wench garb is out, too much boning to fit over the belly, and I know most of the pirate still fits, I just need a new vest/waistcoat as this one no longer can close. And I still haven't had the finances to get my other dress hemmed up so that one is most likely out too. So I guess its pirate opening weekend (unless my doc says otherwise on the 15th).

Oh, Crap!
Now Skippy's gonna want one!
Oops...
To reduce the mud on rainy days one of the guys who works (slaves) for us wanted to put down some patio blocks behind our booth where we keep the coolers for staff sandwich fixings, and cook dinner for the crew after hours. So we were out there yesterday and I hit with a shovel one of the 2" plastic water lines that supply the food booths and backstage wash houses. It was only about 3 inches below the surface. (It shows you how shallow a lot of the soil is above the bed rock) So we had to get someone from site crew to patch it, and afterwards I dug underneath it and removed some rocks to bury it a couple inches deeper. At least the bricks will cover it now as well, and I painted a little warning on the back wall of our booth.
Bummer, GP. At least you were able to repair it.
Hey GP, could be worse. My brother and some of the other guys were digging a trench at a hotel and hit the water line for the pool. Hope no one was in it at the time!

:o do we have our zombie attack plan in place just incase....well you know.
I hope they are slow moving zombies. I hate the fast moving ones. I mean come on they always outnumber us, I don't want them out running us as well.
*evil grin* but if I am one I want to be a fast moving one *evil laugh as he rubs his hands together indicating evil joy at the thought*... wait *remembers "he just won't die"*
It's those pesky zombie mosquitoes that are so hard to keep a way. Of course there's alway the leechman from the one episode of X Files
So the plan is bug spray & lots of salt. Zombies don't drink mead do they. We may have to hunker around the mead booth at around 10:00 am to protect it...hehehe
To all the new people. What you have been witnessing is just an act, random silliness. There are no zombies at fest, no one has been hit with an iron or pushed into the trunk of a car. Well there are the occasional post-feast of fantasy zombies but they are harmless.
Come join in the fun and revelry that is the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. No carpets or Rages were injured in the making of this random silliness.
The carpet was already scorched & blows to Rage's head have left him with a slight tick but nothing that will be noticed.

Anyone wanna place wagers on how long it takes the craft coordinator to come out and tell us we're not allowed to vend out of this Menard's Summer Clearance Special?
Where are the lawn chairs?
And the Weber BBQ?
Is he kidding?
I really wish he was....see those nice square tents in the background behind our trainwreck? We were supposed to have one of those if we stayed in a tent this year. Yeah, well, I guess those were too expensive, so we get that...that...thing. Because, you know, they look exactly like each other. (http://edcforums.com/Smileys/classic/puke.gif)
Maybe we could figure out a way to "dress" it up a little, to make it more fest-like? On the cheap, of course.
Wish my Aunt was speaking to me, she's creative and thrifty...
As long as the beer is clean I don't mind a few leaves.
I am so hoping the doc doesn't put the kibosh on my fun, but we'll see what he says here in about 3 hours.
I wager that they won't make ya take it down.
8 more hours and I'm on site!!

Yeah it's not like there's a real craft coordinator any more.

This I did not know! I should have wagered for Mead! :o
Yeah when Devin introduced herself in a letter to crafters she described herself as something like the new "contract coordinator"

Really? I wasn't sure who had taken on that responsibility, or even IF someone was taking care of it. That's probably why we're slid under the wire for not following the rules for a number of years....
Yeah, I have no problem with Devin as the contact person for crafters she seems reasonable to get along with, but she seems to be the MAF receptionist as well and I don't think she has anything like the power that Lois had, but then Lois had an actual small staff working under her as well...
Edit:
Had to look it up, Devin called herself the "Contract Administrator" in first letter

I suppose that's true. I can't remember the last time we had an actual
real booth inspection. Probably the last year Lois was the coordinator.

We did not make it out that day Sitara.......It did not look that bad when we went out there for the meeting.
Not that bad, but still dirty. It was full of leaves and dust, but I'll bring out a some stuff and spiff it up if it hasn't been. I was really hoping to find time to get out there and repaint but just couldn't swing it.
Sorry.... :( meant to get out there last weekend to help.... I will be there early on Saturday morning (since crazy people like to get there when the gates open *cough cough*) and can help if there is anything left needing to be done... ;D
No problem darling. Thanks for the offer of help as well. I am heading out to site in about and hour and half so if it hasn't been cleaned I'll just do it when I get there. George, Erik and Sarah will be there with me so it should only take a few minutes. That is if it needs it at all.
Baron- I would never give you beer with leaves in it, though if an acorn dive bombs it, I am not responsible. Happened to me twice last year.
Do I get a little arm 'n arm walk this year Sitara?

Your the only thing worth looking forward to on the last weekend Esc, for that alone, I can't wait.
*blushing* Thanks, Fig. I started to add something about me being there soon but knew that it meant the end of fest too. Didn't want to start that line of thinking before you even got to start, so left it out.
I AM SOOOOOO Looking Forward to being There!!!
