Title: A place to light your candle
Post by: LadyOren on May 09, 2008, 05:26:45 PM
Since were here I thought it would be nice to have a place for member to come and just light a candle, say a prayer and not have to start a complete topic.  All are welcome, no matter your beliefs.  Peace to you all during this transition period of the new forum.

Walks to the alter, bows respectfully, opens the basket and places a bowl of sandalwood wax chips, filling the air with the scent of the woods.  Lights a candle for all in need of healing, guidance, strength, love, peace.   Prays for a moment as the candles flicker, rises and leaves, hoping others will soon follow.   Peace and blessings to you all.

*walks in and sits by the alter* I just need some quiet time. I am really frustrated with work and some points in life in general and I just need some time to myself to regroup and de-stress.

walks in and bows down and paryes silently for all you are in neeed. Looking up, feeling encourged because I know I have sought the one who can truly make a differance for us all. I know that God hears us when we pray, therefore I`am confident that our prayes are heard and therefore what we need is on it`s way. Leaves smiling with assurance in my heart.

Walks in quietly, replaces the burned down candles with new ones. Lightly dusts off the alter and replaces the sandlewood chips with a bowl of Forest Potpourri, filling the room with the the clean scent of after a summer rain in the woods.  Opens a leather pouch and places an oak leaf shaped candle, lighting it and praying for it to send strength to all the victims of the recent natural disasters, here and abroad.  May the strength of the might oak tree give them shelter and a solid base to lean upon.  Gathers up the pouch and items, bows respectfully and slips out into the mist of the early morning that blankets the woods.

Steps into the silence, bows repectfully and lights a candle of thanks.  Thanks for a safe return home, a successful working trip, and for the new friends made along the way.  Takes up a seat in the shadows to meditate in the positive energy of the area.

:: walks in and lights a candle::

Thank you for keeping my husbands flamingo in one piece.  That his injuries were not as bad as they could have been.  We can live with a few broken ribs, and wrist.  Blessings on the EMTs that took care of him.  This was one bike wreck that the guy survived.

:: lights another candle::
This is for the family of the the other biker that the EMT's picked up that same day. He chose the telephone pole, while duff chose the mesquite tree.

With head bowed in respect to those who are present, and those who have gone before, a new candle is lit in thanks of my brothers first child being healthy, a candle lit in remembrance of family no longer here to rejoice at the birth,  a candle is lit for courage, strength and honor for the friends who serve in the military protecting our homes,  and one last candle is lit for serenity for those who are restless or troubled.

*wanders in feeling hurt and rejected and sits down before the altar* *lights a black candle for banishing the negative feelings from her soul and heart and lights a white candle to bring in the positive feelings she once had before* I light this candle to ease the suffering of losing a chance at a relationship with someone I genuinely liked and hope that the positive feelings will return to my despairing single soul.

I know it sounds dramatic but its how I feel.

For Sir Wulf, King Charming ~ The Honorable Lord Ulfr hinn svarti Juzki:
On the day of my husbands cremation my mind turns to a passage from "The 13th Warrior".    "Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my Mother, and Sisters, and Brothers. Lo, there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo, they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them. In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave they live forever!"  Goodbye for now, my love.

I have heard it said ... "It is better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all."

Times like these can test that saying ... God speed Dirk ... you will be forever missed lad. I know the angels are drinking mead today ... you'll see to it!

Stepping carefully through the doorway, the friar pauses and removes his cowl as his eyes slowly adjust to the candle light within.

Takng the bag from his shoulder, knees creaking in protest, he finds an empty spot to sit in the far corner. The quiet is deafening but exactly what he was seeking. Sitting back against the wall his breath slows, the mind settles and then he hears it, his father's voice.

There are times when the world gets so loud the things that matter just get drowned out. There are times when being a father is so complicated and the one voice of experience you need, the one you could always trust, can't always be heard.

In the quiet of this chapel, in the light of the thoughts and prayers of friends, a tear is shed and the son knows he is never alone.

Lady Oren sweeps away the leaves that have blown in during her absence.  She tends to the empty votives and replaces them with new candles.  Places a clean white linen on the alter, and bows in respect.  Lighting the incense she makes soft hand jestures to move the scent thru the room, it seems almost like a dance or an incantation.  Then lighting a single candle she moves to the last pew to meditate on the events of late.  Bowing her head she becomes silent, melting into the essence of positive healing energy that comes from this safe haven.   Peace.

*landing softly before the chapel, she furls her wings and quietly slips through the doorway - reaching within her bag, she pulls forth the double wicked spiral candle in silver and indigo, brings forth a spark as only she can, and places it in the burl wood candlestick, staring in to the flame for a moment before she closes her eyes*

PTB, you know my anguish and my desire. Stay this trouble from our lives, bring peace and understanding to all parties involved without throwing our entire fairemily in to turmoil. For all involved, myself included, my only wish is what we desire and deserve.

The blooms outside the chamber are peeking through the winter soil. She enters in silence.  Lights a candle for guidance. A friend is in need.  Calling out on the wind the whispers of the trees carry the message.  Help is on the way.  Taking a seat in a pew, she listens to the song as it's carried across the miles.  Peace.

On this special day, she sweeps the entrance, carrying the vine woven basket filled with wildflowers into the Blessed space.

Placing the vase upon the side stand, Lady Oren arranges the flowers, saying a prayer as each one is place in it's position. Praying for the children of the world that they all will be cared for, and know love, as they are the adults of tomorrow.

Taking her empty basket she lights two candles for her own children, may the Angels always watch after them when she cannot.  Bowing respectfully she wisks away to cherish this special day with them.

*She walks in silently and reverently bows her head as she gives thanks for all the blessings being heaped on her as of late. Allowing the calm settle over her body she rises and greets the moon and sun as they look down on her. Lighting two candles she says*

Oh please send Angels to watch me and mine, let love be the guiding force in our lives. Please deliver us from the evil each day and make our paths straight even as we wish to walk away. Guide me thourgh my schooling, hold me as I work...teach each day Lord...

*Closing the prayer with a smile of love she leaves this place and goes to greet her night*

Brightest Blessings!

I light a candle of thanksgiving for my good friends - you know who you are.

You have always been there for me for which I am forever grateful, and I hope I have succeeded in being there for you when you needed it, even though we are many miles apart geographically.

And the next time I do see you, I want to give you a great big hug, each one of you.

Respectfully enters room carrying basket filled with new assorted candles. Looking about starts to tidy up a bit. Replacing old candles with new ones. She stops to sit and listen to the quietness around her. Bows her head and says a prayer. Thanking the higher powers for her family, friends and the blessings she has in her life. She goes over and lights two candles. One for her mother and one for CaptMarga.
Praying for strength for both of them.  Feeling peaceful and renewed, she quietly leaves shutting the door behind her.

Greetings,

I must step into the light and request your help.

Bowing and then kneeling on one knee, I am but a Knight so the ways of war come easy but the way of talking to God does not come as easy to me. A long time friend and devoted regular of the Great lakes medieval Faire in Ohio, Dillsandra, the Pickle Goddess has passed from this life after surrering this past year in pain. She was a very good woman who sold pickles at the pickle grove and was always handing out drinks to cast and playtrons when they needed relief from the heat. She always thought of others before herself and was just a gentle and pleasent person who spoke to everyone who passed her grove.

Please help me by keeping Dillsandra in your prayers and postings. I do not have those fancy words that you have, for I am but a Knight but I can tell you from my heart that Dillsandra is so deserving of your thoughts and prayers and deserves more than I can give or say about her. Please let God know to accept her with his open arms. May she be in peace forever now. She will be missed but never forgotten.

Thank you so much,

Sir Michael of Mentor,
Knight Commander

Great Lakes Medieval Faire, Ohio

Maeven, I've worked with two addiction hard cases, both of which I had known for years...one alcohol, one cocaine. With the help of another friend who was in recovery (long-term), and of Al-Anon, I did everything humanly possible to try to help these two friends. The former was drunk the last time he called. That's been 3-4 years ago. The coke addict has been clean for nearly 15 years.

I won't take any responsibility for the condition of either. The choice is always that of the addict, and he/she first has to realize and admit the problem. Sometimes they know, like my alcoholic friend, and just cannot beat the demon...actually, the demon is never beaten, just held at bay.

If you have someone, Maeven, that is struggling with this, get in touch with Al-Alon, maybe even do an open meeting. There are right and wrong things to do to help. Knowing which is which is important, if you're hoping to intervene.

My addiction was cigarettes. Hardly in the same class, but an addiction nonetheless and I understand firsthand what addiction means, I've seen what addiction can do. Sometimes, experience sucks...

Lighting a candle and praying for my best pal in the whole wide world: my dog.

He seems to be well, however in the past few days he hasn't been the same. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow and I'm hoping for the best. One of my coworkers was telling me that her sister's dog had the same symptoms that my dog is having and it turned out to be stomach cancer. That just terrified me. My dog and I are inseparable-I've had him since my Senior year of high school (I graduated in 2002) and we finally have him living with us after moving out of my parents house and getting married in 2009. I can't lose my dog. I just can't.

My husband says that he's probably fine, and that there is no need to worry until there is something to absolutely worry about. That's easier said than done.

I'm hoping and praying that he's turns out okay after seeing the vet tomorrow.

****UPDATE**** We just got Oscar's test results in today and he's going to be just fine. He was prescribed medicine for his stomach and he's on a different type of dog food. My husband and I are really glad and thankful that things are going to be alright!

Stepping in to light a candle, say a prayer and offer thanks to any superior being out there in the cosmos.

Lady Kathleen's mom passed away last night, with her loving children around her.  Kathy said it was very peaceful, and now her mom is reunited with her dad in Heaven.  Kathy will remain in the Reno & No. California areas until just before the end of January.

Thanks, Lady Renee, and lots of hugs to Kathy. We had to say goodbye to our Mum a few months back...I know how hard it is.

Lighting a candle for our clansman Matt.  He was in a motorcycle wreck this weekend.  If he didn't have his helmet on he would not be with us anymore.  Thankfully he is only missing TRF this year, and can return to us next fall.  A toast of Loki will be given in his honor with the thankful promise that he will spend many more with us.

Two candles; one for a soul returned, the other for strength to continue her fight.
Thank you~
