Bob and I are getting season passes and plan to be there every weekend.  On Sunday of Memoral Day weekend, we are bringing my nephews (aged 2 and 1), Brother and Sister-in-law and my Parents (whew, what a crowd!).  My oldest nephew has a wee kilt to wear, and if I get on it, my youngest will probably have a jester outfit.  Can't wait for opening day!!!!!  See you all there!!!!  :D

I plan on making opening ceremonies the 17th, but will prob have to leave early to pickup Chicklette.  I'll be there the 18th with Chicklette in tow till either she or I become crabby.  lol  After that I plan on attending at least one day, prob Sunday, of each of the remaining weekends.

Oh yea, if first person to the pub buys the first round who gets the second?

Well due to the fact that I have to deliver an antique carraige(read old car) to a guy who is coming in from Emporia Kansas and we have friends coming down from the Minnesota faire on memorial day weekend, we will be able to attend at least on Sunday and perhaps part of Monday.  this will be a new faire for us so we are really looking forward to it.

Tis a really nice faire.  Small and hilly, but very friendly.  Make sure you catch one of 3 Pints Gone's shows.

That's one of my favorite things about our fair!  Last year I heard a few people moan about how their feet and legs hurt after walking all day at TRF and never getting half of it seen.  At St. Louis you do a little bit of walking, a little bit of looking, a little bit of shopping, and then start over.  You can walk the fair at a leisurely pace and have plenty of time for anything you want to do.  I like to sit along the fence behind/off of the stage 3 Pints Gone performs on, sip my mead, watch the passers by and wave, listen to the show and when I find I'm empty I meander back the the dead parrot for a refill.

How many days we have left?

we might have a smaller faire ground, but between all the acts we have, the cast productions, the different parts of the village and camps, and all the merchants we have will us, there will be no worry about not having enough to do.

its a laid back faire though. no real need to rush to get anywhere, (unless your on cast, then it seems I always need to be somewhere) and with a few exceptions, its very well shaded, so you can get quite comfortable sitting back watching a show.

and as of Saturday morning, 7 days left ;D

well we are not to much into shows, but we are into shopping, garb accessories, weapons etc.  Of course a good pub will always catch our attention.  just wandering around aimlessly, watching people, interacting with paytrons, these are our fun things to do at faire.  As it works out now we will not be there Saturday, but Sunday and a portion of Monday and then head on down the road to home.

Ah Ha... I see several seem to be going this opening weekend. I shall be there as well as about 20 other Bristolians as this is our annual trip and invasion for our "Outlanders". We will also be having a small memorial presentation in Jan Holzmans honor at the Dead Parrot later in the afternoon on Saturday. Anyone is welcome to come. So, if anyone would like to meet up someplace let me know. Right Nightstar and Lady Nightstar? LOL...We will be getting to town late Friday afternoon and going to Growlers as usual for dinner and conversation.

Opening Day was a Grand Time!  We saw Elvendrums, Three Pints Gone, and Lord Nitestar hung out at the Pub with the Bristolians including Lord Sir Clisto!  And speaking of Scotch...  they had some very nice Scotch there...  several tastes which made the bottle go away!
Stopped in at Fretwell Flutes and chatted with our old friend.  Since we hadn't been there in about 4 years, there were several changes, all for the better!
We did see the poor little trebuchet...  alas not on a belt.   ;)
Will have to come again as soon as work and time allow!  As this was the 10th Anniversary, we say Double Grand Huzzahs!!!

The worst thing they could have done was put a pub right across from the Joan of Arc stage.  *chuckle*

I didn't get to faire Sunday till after 12.  Got in the gate and saw Amy & Bob, Yay!  Got a mead, watched the Limeys, got a mead, followed Chicklette about for a bit, and by the time I got to the top of the hill it was after 3:00.  When you don't have that "Gotta get to the pub for a mead" drive it's quite surprising how much looking around you do before climbing the hill.  *chuckle*

*taps fingers against temple*  I also met a lovely couple with a mini pyrate in arms (an itty bitty baby in garb!  Soooo sweet!) and for the life of me I can't think of their names!  Forgive me, I have... ren-block?

Did anyone happen to hear how the jouster who was thrown at the last joust on Saturday is fairing?  From what I heard he may have walked away with a broken arm (?).  The other half and I had decided to watch the last joust of the day...what a surprise! Good thing that he had armor on. When we looked at the fence Sunday morning, it appear he had cracked some boards in half where his head hit (!). Poor guy, bet he had quite a headache.

I have some 2nd hand info, so a little bit better then 3rd, but I don't know any 1st hand facts since by law, the med staff can not share that information.   his arm was broken right below the shoulder, but it was a clean break.  Other then that, Sir Malcom is a bit banged up, but otherwise ok.

WOW!!! What a fantastic weekend indeed. Not only was the weather super, at about 75 degrees both days and clear with a wonderful breeze, but they have a third pub as some mentioned, albiet small but covered, and they serve GOOD SCOTCH... Not no cheap stuff either at the Joust Pub and rum at the other two.  And, extremely reasonable... WOOHOO!!! It was a good day and weekend...

Met up with Nightstar and Lady Nightstar, then hung out having Scotch with Lord Nightstar and catching up on time. have to admit, good Sir, it was all worth it. Didn't I finish one of the bottles? LOL... Also met Lavender on walk about on Sunday later in the afternoon. Yes, she was in mundanes and I didn't even know it was her until she walked up and told me. It was my pleasure, dear lady. I was very happy to have done so. *wink*

All in all the time there was fantastic and couldnt be a better start to the season.  And, for anyone interested, I have my pictures posted now. Here is the link -

I am thrilled to say that Moonie the Magnificent will be at our Faire for some of the weekends! I lived in Chicago and went to the Bristol Ren-Faire and fell inlove with his humor and talent a few years back. I highly reccomend you take in his show if you get the opportunity!

Happy Faire to all,

Yes, and YES!  They said you were wondering about in danes, but didn't have a clue where you were at that point in the day.  They actually spotted my R/F pin and asked who I was.  Did I miss the only day you'll be at faire?  Do I get another chance to meet you before you move away FOREVER! *echos into the distance*

I should be at faire both Sunday and Monday this Memorial weekend, but I don't know what time I'll be getting there either day, but I'm sure I'll be there till close.

Ruby, Diamond, and m'self went incognito this past weekend - I think we picked THE muggiest of days to attend.  Saturday saw us in our colors but not our typical Kiss garb.  Sunday saw us in <gasp!> mundanes!  It is interesting to attend a faire in mundanes after all these years performing at different fests and faires.

So, the lass with the 'ears' on her hood - I take it she is the Royal Jester?  She is a hoot to watch with the wee ones.  Loved her bit at opening gate with the other fellow, that was nice.  Good stunt work on her part to "fall backwards and ring the bell" to open the gate.  I have to give major kudos to the staff and cast for the actions of King Francois - pegged him pretty good for his 'womanizing ways.'  Ruby had never been to Petit Lyon before and without even reading the flyer, she immediately *knew* which French king it was being portrayed.  Kudo's!  Keep up the good work on the 'small details' - for history lovers and fellow rennies, they are the true diamonds of performances.

We'll have to see if our performance schedule next year allows us a 'ren-cation' to Petit Lyon again - it was an enjoyable weekend despite the humidity and high temps.

Fair Seas,
Emerald

I don't mind in the slightest!  Performers need to know when they are doing a good job; it lets them know that their hard work is paying off.  Thank you most kindly for passing my humble words along to the cast!

Anybody know who the troubadour was at faire Sunday of closing weekend?  He stopped by our table after lunch and and sang this cute little song and I totally forgot to ask who he was!  My daughter was totally mesmerized - they usually sing on stage not come to your table, smile and sing directly to you!

It sounds like Tanner...was he at the main pub?  He sang "Swords and Shields" to my nephew Neil...Grandma cried it was so sweet.  Here is a link to a picture of him singing to Neil.  http://rocketgnome.smugmug.com/gallery/5070334_pBjwy#305177375_v5jou-A-LB
From talking to him, he said that the kids are why he performs.  It is just so sweet to see the kids mesmerized by his music!  I think he is personally responsible for more than a few kids going into music or becoming renfants!!!  :)  He is truly wonderful!

Nope, not Tanner.  Him I know.

This guy was walking about, big floppy muffin hat and full long red beard.  I was on iTunes and saw a pic of Craig of Farrington, who's music I adore, and I swear it looks like him, but I don't know if he was slated to be at the faire or not.

*chuckling* Craig usually sings something about a red-headed girl if he finds me wandering the lanes alone but, if Leinad is with me, it's usually "My Turn in the Middle." That one's a bit bawdy and not meant for little ears but is a particular favorite of ours.

Craig honored me by being my second interview for FaireNews. You can see that article at "Have you met Craig of Farrington? (http://www.fairenews.com/9/have-you-met-craig-of-farrington/)"
