I think most people like to look at pictures. I'd like to start a thread here where instead of sending a link to all of your pictures just pick out one picture at a time and put it here. I see lots of cameras at the fair so post your favorite shots here for all to see. I'll start it out with a shot of the Queen and one of her youngest loyal subjects.. enjoy

great pic
That is a gorgeous photo. The lighting, the composition. Delightful.
Precious! I'm surprised the baby isn't grabbing her pearls!
The baby is in awe of Madge Estes offering such a sweet audience, and knows fussing is not needed. :)
I'll add a few more opening day photos, thanks for the compliments. I was hoping more more pictures would show up on this thread. I'll keep uploading from time to time.

Does anyone else have any pictures of baby Cayden with Her Majesty. The baby's parents took a picture, but it didn't come out very well and they are hoping that someone has a really good one (like the one shown) that they can have.
Everyone who was at my booth has pics of the Queen and the baby....

Nice pic Graphicknight, thanks for posting. For Cyron and those wondering, in the pic from left to right:

I am a pig and I drop stuff on myself all the time. Saturday it was turkey grease, so I have four dresses in rotation. Another just like the blue one, and two are ladder laced green (light and dark) Italian numbers. I speak in a norther Italian accent and when I'm actually singing in Italian while I walk down the lanes, can be heard coming from a long ways away. All my hats are made just like that. I want to put feathers on them, but time keeps getting away from me.

Graphicknight, visited your sight and your pics are well done indeed.
i agree with max and kate.. i did not realize you did that as a profession though, thats cool, almost went to collage for photography at one time.. though you just did it as a hobby.. either way.. you get great shots and angles and pics..
Thank you Max and Kate and Cyron!
@Cyron...
Yeah, I do it it as a second profession/job. Photojournalist for a hometown newspaper. Feature and sports stuff, mostly. Weddings and portraits on the side. Helps to pay the bills.
Here's another great pic of the washing well wenches mugging Carl. He took the pic himself, and it's posted in his photobucket album in another thread, but I figured I'd post it here because it's a great shot!

Cyron,
You must have made it to the pub just after Barb and I left. We had a party to go to and were going to leave early anyway, but the pouring rain made it easier to do so.

Nice... Cyron.. My boyfriend is the boy that helped her into the river in the background... I think you got a pic of me in the school girl outfit.

Wow! That sucks. Never had platemail. Only chain and I'd be sick if I lost it. I was at Pyramid on last Friday and purchased a cuirass with pauldrons. They do nice work.

srsly...that is one scary lookin' bunch
That little kitten that woman is bottle feeding was sooooooo cute. She found it in her flowerbed. She wasn't sure if it was abandoned by it's mother or not, so she took it in. I wanted to steal it from her (I was a pirate that day afterall).
The woman is my sister in law, Pam. She almost didn't go that day but, in true Rennie fashion, decided to take the kitten with her. He's so young his eyes were just opening Friday and Saturday, but he's got a big appetite! Several people offered to buy, steal or give the kitty a good home, but Pam's bonded with him. She even named him Precious. My thanks to all those new friends who made them feel so welcome. As a Bristolian I can only say Hollygrove is awesome!
Carl and Donna: Excellent photo!
My favorite shot from Saturday's faire. By far the best pirate on the grounds that day! ;)

These are my husband's and my photo's of the day. We took our 5 week old baby daughter, Lucy Elizabeth Anne to the Michigan Festival yesterday and I went to take Lucy to see Her Majesty once again although she saw Lucy two weeks ago sleeping in her pram and gave her blessing. As Lucy was awake this time, crying a little as she was hungry, Her Majesty held Lucy and gave her blessing again and here are pictures that my husband took. Thank you again Your Majesty, your blessing was truly beautiful. :)

I wasn't totally naked.... I did have my hat on, and my cape for a better part of the day. ;)
It was fun dressing in mudane... just to see the look on peoples faces. LOL
M. night shamalan would like the twist, people looking at you funny cause your not in garb.
She goes to faire mundane and to Krogers in garb.go figure

That's why we all love Lady Ann so much. She scoffs in the face of convention, the little rebel!
The Bawdy Boys are a fun bunch, great energy and great humor!
We need to keep this thread going.
Here's another fun shot of ShaeLaurel.

Jon.
sweet you got it.
Jon,
that is a phenominal picture, you can see the flames and everything coming from the canon. All I can say is...
WOW!!
Thanks. I totally missed it last weekend. But I was happy to get it this weekend. Some day I'll remember to bring ear plugs too.
Jon.
That picture is SWEET!!!! Awesome job Jon!

Not only that, BUT...wait for it, the morning cannon went off right on time yesterday!!! It was a miracle.
I agree nliedel, the 1st time it was right on time was the last time, gotta love it!! Even though not perfect, the cannon man was much better this year than in the past. It took away our fun yelling BOOM to compensate for the very late/non-existant cannon!
well on saturday i ended up breaking my camera while going into best buy to get a battery charger for the batter pack.. so i ended up having to by a new one.. so here are the pictures with it.. and i did mess around alot with it trying to figure it out.. also had quite a few blurry ones that i was not able to post.. well i am posting quite a few but these are all my favorites from sunday.. i took 451.. lol
all the pictures i took at the faire this year are now up at http://www.theblackvoid.net (http://www.theblackvoid.net) if you are in any of them and want a full sized copy just send me a message with the folder name and photo number.

i do hope you all enjoyed the photos i have taken this year.. and for those that got the dvd i made of them up thru the 21st let me know what you thought.. even though it was not hard as i just chucked the music into it.. lol.
We enjoyed the dvd thanks much, m&k.
Thanks, I can't wait to check out the DVD Tony. The DVD drive in my computer took a dump so I'm going to have to buy a new one before I can do so. Maybe I'll toss it in my TV's DVD player and check them out on my TV. Of course seeing the pics on a 47" flat screen could be scary, especially the ones with me in them, ;D. Thanks again Cyron, as I'm sure the photo's are awesome!!
I caught someone being a little naughty!

lol i was gonna assk on that post you just made in the other thread... whats she drinking.. lol
I wish I could have got a shot of the look on her Majesty's face when she was trying to look up the fiddle player for Equinox's kilt with her mirror while he was playing at the Pub sing, but my camera screwed up (read memory card error). She's such a little rascal for being so Regal!!! Love you Queenie!!!!!
My favorite part of these pictures is that I am conspicuously absent. Bonus points to sneaky photographers (That means not you, Cyron, you walked up to me and made me pose) who managed to get me during the day.
I think I must move around too much.

Hmm... Let me look through the archives... I seem to remember a show by the mermaid pond...

The truth is young woman draw a lot more photographers at the faire. Most of the pho-tags being male. Like me, your chest is not large enough. You could try bagels.
You don't need to have a big chest to attract photographers. Women in general do look better than men, look far better dressed up in costume or garb and if you play the game by the numbers, women generate the most traffic on the websites. Jessica the jeweler for example. She has had the number one spot on my photo website for over 4 years. It's not that she has a large chest or is the most beautiful woman at the faire but she "looks" great in her garb, has a natural look for the part she portrays and is very photogenic. I think men have a harder time looking believable in the parts they dress up for. But there are a few that are exceptionable without doubt. The Dutchman is a good example. He draws a crowd everywhere he goes. Men, women and kids of all ages love him.
Jon.

Well, what's not to love about him!! ;D
i dont discriminate.. if you have garb/costume on and i see you there is a high likelyhood i am taking your pic :) (which older and/or larger men and women seem surprised when i ask).. on the flip side though i am convinced there are more women in garb at faires then men... i try to get everyones pic that i see.. but i see alot of girls by themselves or with significate others where she is the only one in garb.
I too believe there are far more women than men at faires in garb. Years of attendance at many, many faires has shown that.
I've noticed the ratio of women to men being dressed up too. I've actually not taken pictures of fantastic looking people because they were with another not in garb. It kind of spoils the shot.
PS. We missed you guys at the faire today. :(
Jon.
psst.. mirf is over.. lol.. but i know you meant mid-mirf.. lol.. thats cause i was at work today.. wont be there tommorrow either.. but waitign to see your pics.
Did I post this one yet? :) Fake or not, if you get hit with a pole while you are riding a horse that is running and another person is doing the same thing except going in the opposite direction, then ya, I'd say it's gonna hurt!
Jon.
nice pic and yes it hurts quite a bit.. even if they are balsa wood on the ends.
found this one after the hard drive crash & rescue!
Pineridge, were you standing next to me when you took that shot? ;)
Jon.
I was at the top of the hill by the Gazebo looking into the jousting pit. I was right next to a blue hat (until he asked me to not shoot). The 'Bigma' at 500mm provide ample reach. ;D
We were pretty close then. I was to your right at the top of hill with Jessica the Jeweler and my son. She was walking her friends Rottweiler... Then I went down the hill and talked with one of the crew members and shot some stuff with him by the rail.
Jon.
Here's a shot I was just playing with from the 2008 MIRF season. I kind of like the noise in this one. The shot was taken in total darkness...
Jon.
Very Cool! is this an IR shot?
Thanks. Nope, it's not an IR shot. The picture was taken in almost total darkness and severely under exposed. I was playing around with it today and managed to pull it back enough to actually see something. But the heavy grain/noise became very obvious so I did a bit more tweaking and finished it off with a Sepia conversion.
Jon.
Very nice work. If you don't mind my asking, how was 'Hob's House' done? (The kinkade like shot), and yes I've named that shot as it is fine work! :)
The Hob shot was done in Photoshop. It's a series of duplicated layers, Gaussian Blur, high pass and channel mixing. I usually just play with the shots until I like the way they look.
Jon.
Very cool. It looks like 'Topaz Filters' bolt on filter set for Photoshop.
Here's one more I found in the electronic dust of ye old festival... A monk hard at work on the ale of the day.

Jon.
glad you know how to use all that photoshop stuff.. i can cut and resize a pic and thats about it.. oh and i can change the file type.. yeah thats my extent. lol. sweet pic though and that you wre able to bring it out.
Thanks Tony. There's lots of stuff online to help you learn Photoshop. I can also give you a hand if you need some help. Just ask away...
I've been looking at my pictures on new monitors and can see so many problems with so many of them it's embarrassing. Time to fix everything!
Jon.
That one of the pirate is very cool. It's sort of creepy and dark like a 19th century pic. always looks.
