Title: Get to know your neighbors
Post by: ladiedragon on May 07, 2008, 11:33:00 AM
Well, here we are.  Even though we don't have our "home", I think this could be a good thing. I've noticed that on our forum sometimes we tend to mingle in our own sections, which is always cool. But here we have there chance to really get to know other people that we other wise wouldn't get to know in the forum.Soooooo-let's get together! ;D

Preset and accounted for, thus far... :)

I guess we could think of this as a "re-introduction" thread.  Depending on how long we're "afloat" here in the life raft, I will try to set up a new into area similar to R/F.com at a later date.  Until that time....

Hi everyone, I'm Deadbishop, and I'm a renaholic.   ;)

I've been attending renaissance festivals for about 14 years now.  I've worked at MNRF for approximately 9 years now.  And, most importantly, I officially became a member of R/F.com in March of 2003.  ;D

Excellent Idea, LD!

I'm renren,been a ren-addict since about 1999,when I first attended MNRF.
hehehe.. we should change the name of this thread to ren-anonymous!
Okay, not really.

My first trip to Scarby was in the mid-1980's. But I didn't start making garb for His Excellency and myself until 1992ish.
Sheesh that long ago?

Great idea LD!

Hi! *waves* The resident tyke (but only for nine more days, I'll still be the baby though)!
My home faire is Scarborough but I've been to TRF and Colorado! The last weekend of Scarby will mark my first year going to the faires.

I'm Blushing (it's a name and too often a description).  I'm also a renholic ...

So I remember buying tickets for Scarborough way back in 2000 or so when I lived in Texas - but I don't actually remember the faire.  And I'm fairly sure I can't blame the mead!

But I truly delved into the wonderful world of faires in 2003 - working at the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire.  I've been addicted ever since.

I've visited faires all over California, I'm a regular at Las Vegas faire (my guild-clan has an official presence there) and now home is Colorado, so I've worked at that faire too.

And now I DO have (wonderful) memories of Scarby from recent trips, and can't wait to return.

I was thinking myself that I was going to see all these new faces...

I'm Aiacha, been attending faires since my first in 1999.  Started with NYRF, then moved to Texas where TRF is my home, but I love visiting Scarborough.  One of these days I'm going to make it to Maryland, which I have heard it great!  I also play with SCAdians at Pennsic in August (this will be my 5th year).  And I will be going to back to NYRF for a day this year by special request.

Hi! I'm Lady Rosalind, formerly known as Elinore (been wanting to change that for AGES). I have been going to faires since spring of 2005, and funnily enough, I have only attended faire once where I had to pay to get in. The rest of the times, I've been working! I'm in central Iowa, and am part of Have Court, Will Travel, the official royal court of the Des Moines Renaissance Faire, and now the new Dubuque faire (Has it really been two years already?). Just got back from the Iowa Renaissance Faire this past weekend, and am trying to get over the post-faire letdown. Went looking for my RF fix this morning, and ran into problems. Glad to see we at least have a place to connect, and start the rebuilding...  :D

Aloha, I'm Trillium!  I recognize all the names here.  I tend to flutter about the forums more than many others.   ;D  I've been a member since October 2003.  My home faire is TRF, but I try to make it to Scarby once a year.  I've been attending faires since 1991.  I also attend Amtgard events as a vendor, but I no longer participate in the fighting.

Greetings!  I'm Lady Nicolette...My first Faire was in 1973, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire at it's original site in Agoura, CA.  My temporary home Faire is the Tennessee Renaissance Festival just outside of Nashville, TN.  I'm the victi  volunteer coordinator for this year's RenDevous '08, the third one to be held, along with Welsh Wench, my trusty secretary and co-conspir   cohort.  I have a strapping 15 year old son, am a hobby harper, and love dogs, literature, music of most kinds, especially world/folk/psych/psych-folk/progressive and contemporary singer-songwriters, horses, bad puns and crossword puzzles and am a confirmed postaholic in the R/F.com forums.  Shhhh DB, it's supposed to be anonymous.  Like Bosch.  See? Told you I like bad puns. ;)

Hello!

I'm Mistress Brimstone Blue, camp dictator for Clan McLotofus- Texas Chapter. I don't know why they gave me that title, oh wait, yeah I do. I'm a control freak and a plan-a-holic.

The first time I went to faire was in 2002, when my then boyfriend (now husband) decided to leave me at the front gate all alone on my first trip out. I've been hooked ever since. Up until March 2008, TRF was the ONLY faire I had ever been to. This year, I've added BARF and Scarby to the list. I have two other tentative faires this year- TN for RenDezvous and KYHRF in July.

Pleasure to meet all of you, and hope to see you out camping with Clan McLotofus at TRF!!!

Hi, I'm Welsh Wench, commonly shortened to Wenchie. My home faire is BARF. I'm helping Lady Nicolette arrange and plan and schedule the Rendezvous/Menage Ette Trois Invasion (I call it the RenETTE)

I like chinese food, walking in the rain, and men that aren't afraid to cry.

OK let's be honest. I hate Chinese food, rain makes my hair frizz and I can't abide crybabies.  :)

I'm mostly here for writing, and have had the fortune to tap into some of the most creative brains on the forum.

ApoloniaK here, although that's just a screen name. Character name is Katharine St. John. I've been a member since 2003. I attended my first ren faire in 1989; it was the opening of the Arizona Renaissance Festival. I became a "regular" in 2001, when my daughter started on the cast at AzRF and by the next year I was in garb and totally hooked. I've been to the SoCal and (former) NoCal Pleasure Faires (my daughter was working those, too), and to Scarby, TRF, Renaissance in the Pines, and Devonshire Renaissaince Faire.

Just logged in today to find we have a home away from home and I'm happy to see so many familiar names!

Hi I'm Ginette and I'm a renaholic too.  My first faire was 3 or 4 years ago and my husband bought me my first gard last season at TRF. I haven't been able to make it to any faires yet this year  :(  but am looking forward to the Central Texas faire and TRF. I'm trying to get my youngest brother to work it with me.

*raises hand* My turn.. I'm Violetrose, I first attended MNRF in 1993. In 1998 my DH proposed to me out there. That was my "Get anything she wants day" besides the shiny new ring that day I got my first garb! Two years later we were married at the chapel across from the Bakery Stage. My favorite part is people watching!

I'm Lady Delaney and I hail from the Frozen Wastelands of Northern Colorado... Actually it's usually warmer there than most other parts of the state.

I've been going to the Colorado Renaissance Festival since the mid 80's and I tried to go every year. That worked up until 13 years ago when I got married. I managed to go 6 or so times while married but my spouce was not a Reni like I am. My current boyfriend Toki Bloodaxe is a huge fan after only 1 visit to Colorados fine faire. He had been to the Texas Renaissance festival a number of years ago, but he didn't manage to have fun. So now that I have him hooked we are getting him outfits and making plans to try and go to other faires in the future. Texas most likely being the next so we can go visit his mother who lives down there.

(Hope this life raft doesn't have a maximum weight limit; armor clad Templar climbing aboard!)   ;D

Hello! I'm Mikael of Aragon. I've been on the Ren Forums for about year, and have attended Scarby since the late 90's. Up until this year, I've just been a patron, but have started branching out this year into the world of playtrons, and have started strutting with the Royal Guard. I'm the Templar in the black chainmail, so please feel welcome to stop me and say hi!

...I'll try not to move around too much while we're at sea. I wouldn't want to capsize us!   ;)

I love this idea!  ;D

Hi Everyone! I'm Lady Ann of Draycott.  The first festival I *ever* went to was Scarby way back in 1981. I joined R/F.com on April 11, 2007 and the first time I went to a festival in garb was to Scarby on April 14, 2007, so compared to some of you, I'm still a newbie!  ;)  Since then I have only been to Scarby and TRF.  I hope to visit some other faires eventually, maybe MNRF in September.  I will also be going to CTRF in June.

Ann is my real first name but Draycott came from my favorite romance novel series. It's the name of a family that lived in Sussex, England since the time of King Richard the Lion Hearted and the Third Crusade, in the year 1190.  I love the series and the name so I "adopted" it along with some of the story as the background for my character.  My character is a Viscountess and my family is known for the variety of antique roses that grace the walls of Draycott Castle.

I am a member of Clan McLotofus and camp with the group when we go to TRF.

Anon!  :-*

Well I am finally trapped.  Some of regulars may/or may not have noticed that I never posted an intro in the currently in limbo forum.   By the time that particular thread became popular I had already been on the forum for about 6 months so I said why bother most everybody knows me anyway.  However now we are in a life raft and I to agree that we should know one and all.  With that, I am the BLAKDUKE.  A name derived from a picture printed in a Florida Keys newspaper, advertising royalty, dukes, knights and ladies.  The picture was of me in black garb, a horrendous scowl on my face, and I thought that the name fit.  I have been rennfairing since 1983 when attended my first faire at Sterling, got my first piece of garb and have been going ever since.  I have graduated a bit thru the years, having been the King and my wife the Queen for 9 years in Tenn.  a stint in the keys faire, was King at the first  Florida Faire in F. Lauderdale, and finally am reigning in the both Gulf Coast Faires(Pensacola/Mobile).  My wife and I visit faires when we can.  However our time is split between faire and restoring antique cars.  It just seems that there are not enough days/weeks/months in the year to do it all.

Post by: alyria stargazer on May 07, 2008, 02:44:51 PM
Hello all,
My name is Alyria Stargazer and I have been attending TRF since the year of my birth in 1982. My whole family attends TRF every year and I grew up wanting to be a part of Faire with every bone in my body. when I was 12 I started working at the Belly dance booth and then switched to the Chateau Du Macabre( man I miss that place!) then random other jobs. At 15 I went with my best friend and his mom to a little faire in Smithville TX called Excalibur, fell in love with the quaint beauty of the place, called my mom and brought her up the next weekend to open our very own booth called Chameleon Dreams and she has been vending ever since. When I was 17 I chased my boyfriend to NJ but to my disappointment never got to attend any Faires in that region of the US =(. I moved back to TX when I was 20, found myself single and decided to jump on Circuit, went from Excal to Scarbie(LOVED IT!!) to Colorado (LOVED IT EVEN MORE!!) then decided to settle down with my boyfriend in the real world to have a baby... I got a B.E.A.-utiful 2 year old son named Quinlan, and a new boyfriend named Roy, I live in Austin and the reason I am telling you all this Random info is because........ I want you all to get to know me on a personal basis because about 2 secs. before the site went down again I had JUST finished posting a new thread about the Opening of a new Festival Grounds at the Rocky Hill Ranch (yes the rumors were true, to an extent...) that we are calling The Serendipity Haven Festival Grounds. It is under new management, namely me, Chameleon and a friend of ours named Bill Slette. Hopefully the thread will be found when the site goes back up, but if it doesn't I'll retype it... bummer. If you have any immediate questions you can email me at alyria_stargazer@yahoo.com. I have sent John all the specs so hopefully they will be up if nothing else is. Our first event will be an overnight drum jam called Rhythm and Stars held on the 3rd Sat. of every month starting the 17th of May, (short notice but we had everything ready but were not expecting the lease agreement to be ready for a few more months then it went through without a hitch :o) to raise revenue and invite prospective vendors and patrons alike to come out and see what we have to work with and get to know each other and put in their two cents. So we decided to jump right in and get our hands dirty. you can find more info on my tagged space (alyria stargazer of course ;)) and we are working on getting a website up to show all the ideas we have for the MULTIPLE festivals we will be having throughout the year. If you are a vendor and think you might want to come out for the night we are offering vending spaces for 10.00 and we'd appreciate 3 days notice to make sure we have space and whatnot. We don't really know what kind of turn out to expect the first time but it will get bigger every month and this is our family and we want everyone involved to know each other like family so we can always work together to make every event spectacular!! ... well I've probably rambled much longer than I should have but I am SOOOOO excited ;D :D ;) :) ;) :D ;D >:(!!!!!!!! If we don't see you at the 1st Rhythm and Stars hopefully we will see you at another event...

O.K. I'll get off it now ;D

Greetings. I am Queen Bonnie and I was made your Queen a few years ago. I even had an online coronation! I think a few here might know me?
There are many stories about how I got to be Queen- but the real one is that Amras and Bish and John locked me in a high tower and said- no more single malt for you, until you take on this job! Queen of Everything is a big job indeed!
What could I do? I gave my assent. Then I pulled my wee claymore out of the stone- the trumpets sounded- and this rest is history!
Glad this is a big life raft. Happy we are all here and safe!
Can I add some amenities? I did bring my wand!

I am sealion aka Captain Cin McPhee aka Ciana di Firenze. How did I get started in all this? My first visit to a ren faire was the Michigan Renaissance Festival on Labor Day 2004 simply because it was something to do while stuck in Flint for the holiday. We made a return visit in 2005 and decided this was something we wanted to get more involved in. In 2006 we bought some garb and, through the R/F listings, found info for all the faires in Michigan and dove in! In 2007 I started actually making my own garb so you'll usually find me hanging out on the garb and sewing threads.

I'm Captain Faye Elizabeth Cutler (of the HMS Foggy Dirge - hehe), and I've been attending faires since about...1999 or 2000. My original home faire is TNRF, and except from that the only other faire I've been to up til 2007 was MNRF. I always make a trip to TNRF to celebrate my birthday (yay RENdezvous is that weekend!  ;D). I relocated to Kentucky back in September so now I've gotten the opportunity to visit more faires, meet some great people, and have a lot of fun! Err...and maybe get a wee reputation at a certain faire... *cough* I'm innocent!!!!  :-*  ;)

Ahem... Anyways, looking forward to meeting lots more people at RENdezvous and elsewhere.

Hello,

My name is Sarita, and my husband Tom and I hail from the Island of Galveston--two miles of the coast of Texas and 50 south of Houston.   We've been faire veterans for about 10 years or so.  I've "lurked" here for quite awhile but am good friends with Capt. Morgan and Raevyncait (sp?) and probably a few others, too :))

Our home faire--even though it's nowhere close to home--is Scarby.  We've attended Maryland, Louisiana, and Ontario--the one in Canada!

We'll be back at Scarby this coming weekend and then again for Memorial Day weekend, too.  (Even though it's not renfaire related, we'll be at the Scottish Festival as well. *g*)

I think we may need an intervention...is there a Renfaire Anonymous?

*waves* I am ladiedragon or LD as most would call me. I am a member of RFA. And as a member I must address the addiction that I have.  I had my first experience in 2006. I was unsure of what to do. I came with the appropriate items I was informed to bring. I was shown what to do, and where to go. I must admit, I always said I would never let myself become an addict. It was just one time. *or so I thought*

I was still unsure of what to expect. The first few hours were a very different feeling for me. I followed the "leader(s)".  I watched, listened, and learned. I still thought "I'm not gonna get addicted, nope, just a one time thing."  Boy was I wrong. Hours into this first time experience and I could start to feel something change in me.  Weirdly enough, there was this feeling of family evolving and a feeling that my life would never be the same again. I didn't know if I could stop, but would I really want to?

My symptoms: feeling of family, being engulfed in the atmosphere, the people, and sites, the sounds, tasting this delicious thing called mead, the food, laughing, interaction with others, forming memories, forming friendships, are just a few of my addiction symptoms. As the day wore on, I knew I was gonna be in trouble. I realized that this experience made it all the more hard to stop.

So yes, I will say it loud and clear. I am ladiedragon and I have been a ren fest addict (RFA) for almost 3 years (officially), and I am d**n happy of my first experience and getting to me all the other wonderful people who enjoy this as much as I do.

Is there still room?  (Looks around)  I guess so - this is one mighty big raft!  Excuse me. . . excuse me. . . sorry about your feet, I'm a bit of a klutz. . . is this seat taken?

(Stands, doff his hat with a flourish and bows to all.  Then realizes he's standing in a raft and carefully sits back down.)

Greetings to all.  I am William Blackheath.  Please call me Will or just Blackheath (a former love called me William; it's a long story).  I hail from Bristol, and this summer will be my eighteenth season.  I have also made it to MRF for seven of the last eight years.  No garb the first few years, but in about '94 I started dressing as a peasant known as Kevin the Quiet.  A few years later I decided to upgrade and Blackheath was born, a mercenary rogue with investments in several businesses in London, and ties so some shadowy persons at the periphery of court.  (Okay, it's mostly a story in my head;  I don't use it too much at faire, as I don't want to interfere with the cast.)  About three years ago I started developing Gydeon Ashe, Captain of the Scarlet Myst.  Pirate?  Of course.  Privateer?  If I can steal or forge the proper papers!  A veteran of Queen Anne's War, and someone, like Will, who's searching for honor in a dishnorable world.

Call me a rennie, playtron or renaholic; they all apply!  In the mundane world I have been, among other things, an actor, writer, journalist, disc jockey and audio visual technician.  I am a student of history, with the Medieval and Renaissance periods a passion.  But sometimes I just like to dress in garb and go into the woods to have fun, people-watch and drink ale!   I've met some very nice people over the years, but mostly my group has kept to itself.  So I joined these forums last January to get to better know the ren-faire community at large.  I am very glad I did, as I've found the honor and chivalry I've been searching for.  Of course, all the bawdy humor helps too!

My actual name is Amber, here I am mellingera, aka Lady Selwyn. I went to my first renfest (MDRF) in 2006 and I was hooked the moment I stepped through the gate. I made my first garb for the following season and liked it so much I have turned into the seamstress of friends and family (They pay me in fabric, how was I to resist!! ;D). It is lovely to converse with those outsede the sewing circle, this was a fab idea!

Hail All,

My mundane name is Bill but many know me by Dirtfarmer/Bill Dirt/Dirtboy or some other variant of that based on the character I played at the old Virginia Faire Peregren the Dirtfarmer.  I have been attending faires since 1990 when I went to Maryland and was hooked.  I've been working as cast at Virginia (old and new) and North Carolina faires for the last 10 years and try to, as often as I can  to visit other faires and play the streets (when I'm allowed).  I worked as the nobles guilde assist director/director at VARF for several years, until I burned out and now just play noble characters in the guilde/street.  My other Rennie passion is designing noble costumes.... too bad I can't sew or I'd be dangerous.

Greetings and Salutations! I'm LadyHawkeontheHill (yes, there really IS a hill...) I've been attending faires for 12 years now and I'm an armchair quarterback jouster. I love the sport! As a matter of fact, it was a knight in great leathers (as opposed to shining armor) that got me involved in the culture of dressing up and playing  8).

I guess I intended this thread to be sort of a get  to know you thread. like the title says. not so much an introduction thread or a RE-introduction.  as like i said before, we tend to mingle in our own sections, which is always cool. but here we have the chance to really get to know other people that we other wise wouldn't know on the forum.

Hello, I'm Amyj and I'm a renaholic!
I'm more commonly known about my local area as "Amy of Bob-n-Amy".  My first faire was in 1997 (checks souvenier mug) at KCRF, but my local faire is Greater St. Louis ren faire.
I don't have a persona or even a propper ren name...I'm  hoping to have one bestowed upon me eventually...Err...I like to make garb, cook, do lots of artsy-craftsy things...
Ummm...I have 4 cats, no kids, one boyfriend of 17 years and 2 glorious nephews who I plan on making ren addicts as soon as possible.
I'm so glad to have the family here back together, I don't know what I would do without you all.  Thanks to John for making things well again!!!!  ;D

I never really intruduced myself before, I just kind of showed up randomly and started talking.  I seem to have a habit of doing that.  I am a local of the STL Renfaire, and still relitivly new to the scene.  In the 3 years since I've joined the cast, I have carved out my own little nitch of the faire grounds for my demonstrations, I've also started a guild on cast to perform other trade demonstrations as well.  If you attend the STLRF, look for the Artisan's show schedual, I'm hoping I managed to get that pushed through.

If you can't tell, I joined faire and hit the ground running.  I joined to have fun, it became my creative outlet, but I stay because it's now my home and where I find my family.

Salut!
My forum moniker is Annastina, from a Swedish ancestor.  I have a Faire name, Susannah Byerly, from another branch of my family tree, but I don't know much about her yet - she's a work in progress.  My mundane name is Donna.
My first RenFaire experience was watching LeVar Burton on Reading Rainbow (wow, what a confession).  My first attendance was RPFSC at Glen Helen in the 80s.  My hubby and daughter and I went a few times.  I've been going every year since RPFSC moved to Irwindale, five miles from my parents house.  I also attend Koroneburg and Escondido (which I love).  All three daughters are renaddicts like their mum, and we are working on darling hubby.
When I'm not at Faire I enjoy chocolate, genealogy, reading and my bouvier des flandres, Tanda.  ;D

Well, since we're going to be here for a bit, I suppose I should tell you all a bit about myself...

My mundane name is Stacey.  My first faire experience was in 2001 when my darling sister took me to PARF one weekend while I was visiting her and I've been hooked ever since.  I immediately got my children hooked and they too are now renaddicts. I'm proud to say they've been converting friends every year, too.  I took my fiance to faire a few years ago when we first started dating and converted him, as well.  Our home faire is Pittsburgh RenFest, but I still go to PARF at least once each season and this year we're adding GLMF.  My goal is to add at least one new faire every year, ultimately going to at least one each month.   Of course, I'm going to need to hit the lottery in order to continue feeding this addiction in that capacity but, hey, a girl can dream!

I'm Erynn, the mostly quiet thing that hangs out in the corner with the monkeys. I went to MNRF for the first time in middle school with my parents, then a few years later with a friend and her family in garb. 2007 was the first year I went to faire multiple times a season.

In my spare time I work on one of my many hobbies and go to as many plays/musicals as possible.

I blame my love of theatre on my parents (who took me to my first musical at 11), my love of historical costuming on my friend and my adoptive parents and both groups together (plus a sprinkling of fellow R/f-ers) for my love of faire. (ha. sounds like 'love affair')

And if there is a part of that you don't agree with, they're the ones to blame.  ;D

Greetings All,
My R/F moniker and faire name are one in the same; Captain Emerald Shaunassey.  I've been hooked on faires since 1998 when I first attended KCRF in Bonner Springs, Ks.  Over the years I've been a vendor's assistant, pub wench, court lady, dance & costume mistress, lane act, and a short stint as an ED.  For the last 6 years - owner/manager of my own comedic, all female stage show, The Ladies of the Salty Kiss (www.TheLadiesoftheSaltyKiss.com).  'Bout the only thing I haven't done at faire is clean pirvies and haul trash.

I travel all over the midwest of the country from my mundane home base of N.E. Oklahoma; I've been as far north as Bristol and as far south as Ingleside, Tx; as far east as Danville, Illinois though I've not gotten very far to the west ... yet!  In mundane life, I'm an RN at a rural Oklahoma hospital.  I'm a member of the IWG (#979), Bards Guild (#171), Ren Mercs Guild, & Privateers Guild.  My home faire?  I suppose one could count KCRF since that is the faire that started all this madness but, there are several faires I hold dear in my heart.

Here's to you an' here's to me ....

Aound these parts, I've been going as Hoowil. I've been a fringe rennie for about 15 years, mainly recreationally. Did some time in the SCA back in the 90's. After some time in Alaska, I returned down to the rest of the world, and have slowly been getting back into the swing of things. Slowly, as in adding another faire each year for the last four. My wife and I are just now really getting back into the swing of things, and are trying to raise a mini-rennie to enjoy.
As for a home faire, not too many big ones around here. Open at what used to be Calaveras Celtic Festival (now Sonora), hit the Nor-Cal Renaissance Pleasure Faire *Gods I miss the old Black Point site!*, small single weekend faires in Fair Oaks, SF, and working on getting to Valhalla in Tahoe, and hoping the late season faire in Angels Camp is still on. Guess the Pleasure Faire would be 'home'.
Been on the forums for a little bit, only a couple of months.

Greetings, gentles! (hey, I get a "do over"- the first time I posted on the forums, I mistakenly wrote "gentiles" instead  ::) ). I lurked off & on for a few months until I realized I already knew a few people here, then took the plunge.

My mundane name is Donna, and I live in Bryan Tx., just a short drive up the road from my home faire, TRF. I've been attending TRF since the late 80's...I think. It's hard to remember anymore! Started garbing a few years later, and I tell people all the time that once you do, you'll never feel right in 'danes again. The last time I did, I felt so...conspicuous, exposed, oddly-dressed!  :D .

In the mundane world, I spend my off-faire time volunteering at the Houston Rodeo (it's a 501(c)3 that send kids to college- didjda know that?) and a few Scottish festivals, gardening, learning bellydance, playing "quality assurance" to milord brewmeister, and spoiling a couple of big smelly shelter mutts rotten. Despite the garb cleavage, I'm actually a little introverted at first, so shoule you see me at TRF or Scarby, please say "hi"!

RaevynCait present and accounted for! Rennaholic #somethingorother.  Like Sarita, I probably need an intervention, but it won't work, I know that already.

I've been spending a weekend a season at Scarborough for several years, bought my first full season pass (FOF) last year and made 14 of the 17 days.  Have made every day this season.  Last year I also made Middlefaire, TRF, and Carolina, as well as Scottish Festival, another highland games in NC, and Dickens on the Strand.

I'm Dame of the IWG hostelwithnohome at Scarby.  Most likely place to find me is either at the Ivanhoe stage working Rogues shows, or at the picnic tables in front of the Captain's pub, near whatever they are calling the new stage near the Horn Shoppe.

Ciao!  I am Marietta Graziella Stefana Luanna Giovani Luchetta de Polcenigo; Viscontess di County Confusion, wife of the VexedViscount.  Most people just call me MG. ;)
I went to my first ren faire in 1980 with my dad, brother, and the 2 neighbor kids.  What fun!  However, it was years (and years) before I went again.  Not for lack of desire, more lack of availability.
I joined the Air Force out of college, was active duty in Turkiye during Desert Storm.  Lived in England, Turkiye, and Italy.  Married my husband and stayed in Europe for almost 10 years.  Didn't attend any Ren Faires but did tour LOTS of castles.
When we came back to the US we started attending MNRF regularly.  We still lived too far away to go often, but made the trek once a year from Minot, ND and loved every minute.  Now we are settled in MN and attend MNRF many times each season.
My name is a compilation of people and places we knew while living in Italy.  I look at my ren passion from more of a Historical Fiction point of view.  I try to come close but take a bit of creative license when it suits my needs.
I have truly loved getting to know so many wonderful people on this (well, that) forum and look forward to meeting lots of new people at TN RenDezvous.

Tremayne here. Wow  :o so many new folks since I last was a regular R/F poster a couple of years ago. Since then my life has gotten busy and I've only lurked on occasion. Alas, I'll continue to be mainly a lurker but wanted to say hi to all. I hope to meet many of you at TNRF for RenDezvous/Menage 'Ette Trois.  My first faire was the one in Holly MI back in the mid to late 70s when I was a teenager. As an adult I rarely went to faires until a couple of years ago. I preferred hiking on nice days and spent several years in faireless MT. However, I've come back into the fold and feel blessed by the friends I've made here. I've attended the last two TNRF but now live in AL and so am unsure what to call my home faire. I consider myself well-positioned to attend the two small faires here in AL, as well as TN and Atlanta. Now all I need are MONEY and TIME!!! *sigh* It may be a couple of years before I'm able to fully indulge in faire possibilities. My work, however, is lightening up a bit, so you may see me popping on here every now and then, when there's a slow period.

My character I like to portray name is " Lady Amy of York " other wise known as " Captain Amy ".
She is  a  Irish noble  lass, born into nobility, on her mother's side of the family. She inherited her love of the sea from her father, who was a wealthy businessman and own several   sea going vessels. One thing led to another, and she found herself captain of a pirate ship called " The Lusty Lady."

Hello again, everyone!  Great to be home!

My husband and I attended our first faire in 1980, when we had a booth at the Ringling Museum's Medieval Faire, in Sarasota, FL.  We had a brass rubbing business and thought that would be good advertising for the workshops I ran in an art gallery in Safety Harbor, FL.  We did that faire for several years and also demonstrated at the First Largo Renaissance Festival (now in a different location and renamed BARF).

Several years went by, we had kids, and while living in Florida in 1995, stumbled upon the Florida Renaissance Festival somewhere around the Vero Beach area (forgot exactly where).  That same summer, we moved to Western Illinois, and I had always remembered the MN RF as being one of the largest.  The next summer, the whole family spent the weekend at MN.  Then we found out about Bristol, only 3 1/2 hours from us, and our whole summer and fall revolved  around finding faires in the local area and visiting them.

I've been on the boards over 2 1/2 years now, and am so addicted that first thing in the morning, I pop downstairs to the computer room to check the forums.  My husband is British, and our real last name is a sept of the Buchanan clan in Scotland, so we wear the Buchanan tartan at faire.

We also have other personnas,  Stephen,  Earl of Wessex and Renee, Countess of Wessex.  Steve is originally from Weymouth, Dorset, one of the counties that make up Wessex.  As well as the dreaded pirate Redbird Annie, keeper of the parrot, and Captain Steve Dorset, captain of the Ocean Motion.   But you have to call me Renee, because I forget to answer to anything else.

My husband and I own a restaurant in Galena, and the decorations on the wall are the brasses and brass rubbings.  We have almost 100 brass facsimilies, though not all are up, and every so often, I still give brass rubbing workshops where the participants make their own brass rubbings.

I love surfing, been surfing since I was 16, though it's pretty hard to do in Galena.  lol.  Anybody who has met me knows that I get so excited about all things faire, I jump up and down and clap my hands.  A lot.

Met the most wondrous friends through this forum and am looking forward to meeting even more at RenDezvous and other faires throughout the midwest season.

Festmum here.  I've been a forum member for 3 years.  Loved the first festival I went to. Got into the festival community through my daughter, a cast memeber of TN for 7 years.  Always a "Mum" to the cast and anyone else who will let me...

Greetings,
O nce upon a time, in the far Northern land of lakes and trees, there lived a young maiden by the name of Linda, who spent her days taking brush and pencil to paper, creating a menagerie of horses, bison, elk and other animals. With time and practice, she grew in both stature and talent, into a young woman of great ability and ambition. When finally she could learn no more in her sleepy hillside village, she gathered both courage and supplies and set out to seek knowledge in the world beyond ~ The School of the Associated Arts in St. Paul, MN. She spent three years studying the art of life drawing, specializing in sketching the fairies that had early on befriended her dreams. This is about the time the Minnesota Renaissance festival began, in the nearby hamlet of Jonathan~with no more than a few tents staked out in a field and the collective yearning for a bygone age, a time of romance, adventure and fantasy. She visited there in 1973, never thinking she would one day participate in it.

You may greet Lady Linda in person, at her most fyne shoppe numbered 228, near the front gate, to enjoy a viewing of her latest masterpiece and share a smile.

This is the 11th year I have had my shop at MNRF. I also enjoy making garb!

Thick Leg Chelle here!

I think I was a renaholic since birth.  Who knew all those great b/w swashbuckling movies would finally pay off?  I've been a member on the R/F forums since Oct 07 and I've been attending The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire for 4 years now and the St. Louis Pirate Festival since it began, 3 years ago.

What's even better is I take my daughter along for the ride.  She hasn't a clue that not everyone dresses up like a Limey Bird or a pirate at least once a year and goes to faire or fest.  Poor kid, she never stood a chance!

:D :P

Good Day! I'm Malcolm (formerly malcolminfife) and I've been a rennie since 2000 when I bought my first kilt at MIRF. By nature I am first a historian, second a Scot, and third a rennie. I have reiceved some training in theatre, but that was a long time ago.
For almost 30 years I worked as a civilian for the Army. I have been retired since 2006, and if I told you any more, I might have to kill you.
Attending Faires has allowed my to take up another old hobby of mine, photography. I post all my Photos at http://community.webshots.com/user/watermark (http://community.webshots.com/user/watermark), and post the better ones, after some editing, here http://www.pbase.com/lordmalcolm (http://www.pbase.com/lordmalcolm)
If you're at one of the Mid-West's many faires, you might want to keep an eye out for the crafty celt in the kilt with a camera. If you see the flash, it's too late.

*stands up*

Hi, my name is Patrick Stuart and I've been a renahalic since 1987.

My title is Baron Doune and I live in 1566 at Castle Doune in Scotland.  (A Baron is the lowest of the low on the nobility scale and is just simply a land holder.  And I try to uphold this tradition.)

Stuart is not my real last name but is based upon a distant ancestor the Lady Margaret Stuart.  James McCord's wife.  Some of you might have heard of her.

My home faire is MNRF and I'm drawn there mostly for the music.  I prefer scotch, but will settle for a good cheap Irish whiskey.

And no I don't wear the kilts for good reason.  I'm sure somebody else has a pic.

Castle Doune was the castle in Pythons Search for the Holy Grail and was also the place Lady Stuart would take summer visits.

I tend to stick around mostly in the mnrf section but will try to stretch my wings a bit more.

Lord Patrick Stuart
Baron Doune
Order of the Coconut
L'ordre de Rose

and so there LD...

I'm the Countess of Phoenix, my husband is Graybear. We joined r/f.com just last fall, but we have both been attending fairs for years. My first fair was Scarborough in '95 when I was pregnant with the Lady Rachael so I guess she has been a renaholic from utero. One of my daughters got married at Scarborough in 2002 and it was with great pleasure we attended that fair this year with 3 of our daughters, a son-in-law, boyfriend and two of the grandsons. I've been sewing our costumes since 2000 and it is amazing after sewing for 35 years that ai have so much to learn. TRF is currently our home fair and we have been attending there for several years. Just getting to know the members of this family and those we do know for the most part are welcome editions to our family.
All I want to know is where are my stars? I was working hard to get to post my 100th post now I am starless. Some members have their stars, what about the rest of us?

Greetings good neighbors!
I am Ladyferns.  I only recently joined the forum before the recent upheaval, and i commend all of the forum organizers for bringing it back online in such a grand fashion.  I never introduced myself before, and appreciate the opportunity to meet everyone.  My home fair is GARF, and we started going in mundane personna way back in the early 90's - my first t-shirt is '93 and I think I got that after a couple of seasons.  For a while we only went once a year, but then added the weekend I took the girls - my Girl Scout troop was nuts about all things faire related and even put on two "Renaissance Fantasy" events for younger girls (and their little brothers!)  That was when I started going in garb, and became Ladyferns.  My bonnie mate is a manly, fire haired kilt-wearing sweetie who has come to love this fun and facinating world as much as I do, so now we go several times each season to GARF, and have visited the CRF as well.  We have now begun talking about traveling to other venues...

I'm Boom Boom/Sidra/Sami and my home faire is, hmm, I guess TRF :)  I started going to faire in 2006 but had been wanting to go for several years before that.  I now try to go to faire as often as i can, which is not always easy with job/finances/etc, but I make it to TRF at least once a year, make it out to rennie gatherings in my area, and try to see my fairemily as often as I can :)  I live in Austin, TX, with my fiance and a very spoiled kitty and I'm a pastry chef.

And, hi (or hi again) everyone!

DT Masters, time traveling anthropolgist from 2057 and facsimile of a wizard as I try to type this on a desk overflowing with books and tapes, in a den stuffed to the ceiling with books, takes, and notes, and oh yes, Osiris the cat here on the desk between the keyboard and the monitor, looking for love, staring at me with those green eyes.

Been doing RF picture taking in Texas since the early 90's but only got into the internet component in the last year and a half because ........ Over the years, there were lots of favorite subjects but I never knew who they were (I never buy a program). Finally found the identity of one, which lead to sites and forums, and HERE I AM!

Hail from the Austin area.

My name is Matty Pine Brownie.
I have been going to faire since 1997.
Have been a gamer and fantasy fiction reader for even longer than that.
My home ground right now is in flux.
My home away from home (a plot of pine trees in York Co. Maine) the Crown took away for "bureaucratic" and financial reasons.
Geographically, I am closest to the Cloisters, but the invasion spot that is sworn by is Tuxedo.
I have invaded other places as far as away as Minnesota and Charlotte.
My favorite invasion was Charlotte.
The one I am most proud of would be Higgins (Worcester MA) as it was simply a nice weekend before the weather got too cold.
My strangest invasion experience was Maryland.
The guilty pleasure invasion was the Manor in Boston with the Mrs.
The best investment piece of garb I have come across would have to be a green cavalier hat plumed, with green ostrich plumes.

I remember when I went almost exclusively alone to faire, but marriage and life has changed that.
